This is the dumbest fake speedrun I've ever seen. It's hilarious this took 2 years to be found. Thanks to the Jump King speedrunning discord for the help.

Badabun's fake speedrun was pretty bad, but this one was a real world record on a real leaderboard which I think makes it funnier. What do you think?

good luck with the lawsuit... not that you'll need it lol
Hey Karl, hope your doing good man. Remember to take time to focus on yourself and take care of your mental health. You're doing well mate, keep up the good work. Very proud to have an Aussie like you representing the Speedrunning community with news and stories.
what about Todd todgers? he has the world record for dumbest speed runner
@themissingsamurai oh yes he does
I always look for an excuse to rewatch your badabum video 🤣 I love it
The fact that nobody was even looking for this, just a bored dude writing a python script and seeing something odd is pretty telling about how much more cheating is yet to be uncovered
It's extraordinary how many of these things are found accidentally. Luck really isn't on the liar's side.
@What-Hapen
That’s survivorship bias. If many of the people who got caught cheating were caught due to bad luck, that means that there are many more similar cheaters out there who didn’t get unlucky-we just don’t know about them because they didn’t get caught.
@thingwithchlorophyll2101blow me
@erickpoorbaugh6728 "the uncaught thief's an honest merchant" - ad literam translation of an romanian saying
Even funnier is the more recent one where the guy was SUPER blatant about blindfolded clicking and had janky vfx work, awful key and anyone with basic knowledge would spot it, even besides all the other obvious hints it's staged like the theatrics in the start the dude does
But nobody was looking for that and the dude got away with it for years
This is fascinating. A fake that manages to be simultaneously really high effort and really low effort.
Yeah, so much effort, but still so sloppy.
Seems largely to highlight what he knew would be an issue and what he did not. Since with all the effort on things showed, clearly was willing to put work in. Trended toward noticing things could given it away in the moment, verses taking time to review the run as a whole.
He should have gone for video editing over speedrunning
This is what happens when You hiperfocus on some details and miss the bigger picture.
@dragoon0animeOr acting
Have a feeling you’re lying, he doesn’t have pizza or coke next to him.
and dont forget the heart beat monitor
@astrayamatu And how his heart monitor instantly reaches heart attack speed when he get's the record.
Which is why you can tell he's not legit.
Just saw the thumbnail. Can't watch right now, will watch later but if it's seriously dumber than that, it must be *something*
The Pizza and Coke joke never gets old haha
16:20 “But I must warn you, if you’re in public. Do not play this out loud.” Thanks for the warning man holy cow lol
dude has billy mitchell phenotype
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
That part made my sides hurt from laughing
Alternative title:
REALLY BAD SPEEDRUNNER TURNS OUT TO BE PRETTY GOOD VIDEO EDITOR
Your bar seems to be really low for video editing.
yeah, it's not that the editing was technically sophisticated.
It's just that he did the legwork and thought of many many tells and addressed them.
Maybe "speedrun cheater's attention to detail fooled everyone for 2 years"
He's at least patient and persistent.. not the most technically minded tho from missing all the small fuckups though. Just do legit video editing!
BUT ALSO WITH VERY SHORT OVERSIGHT
GONE SEXUAL
16:50 hearing "Yes! 354 milliseconds!" after all that moaning would just be comedy gold out of context!
"Yes, yes! I beat it!"
😅😅😅😅😅@wreckronomic6663
i haven't laughed this hard in a while. that's actually so fucking good out of context.
And then plays Beach Boys.
Would be a shame if someone took that footage and edited it put of context. :V
Everyone always says "why didn't he eat pizza or drink coke" but nobody questions when badabun doesn't perform a dance number after completing his run.
Ah, yes. A man of culture
That dance is something straight out of Dora the Explorer really
fair
The dance made cringe so hard it might have been a world record.
KARL, please if you're reading this don't scroll, I need an answer if I should still be eating MAGIC SPOON CEREAL? for months or even dozens of months i have been eating box after box of MAGIC spoon cereal. back when you told us it was the safest and most healthy option for us to eat, i bought several cases at quite good prices sourced directly from auctions of unclaimed shipping containers. quite a good deal. but since then, my kids have started to refuse to eat any flavors. ok, i simply started to eat triple or even quatripled the amount of my eating. but now i'm going through a divorce. cannot spend this much time wiping anymore...please should i still be eating MAGIC SPOON or is there a reason that you stopped mentioning them? i emailed you and left many more politce comments to no response. i even asked scott the woz to reach out to you and he said no. please sir i need advice
A friend of mine who also watches these kinds of videos pointed something out to me about those fake reactions that I can't help but think about every time I see them now:
"It's the kind of reaction someone who's never set and reached a deeply personal or arduous goal would make. They try to act flippant or cool because they don't understand what the gravity and importance of such an achievement actually feels like. That or they're just really cringey bad actors, point stands either way".
Watching this kid's reactions definitely reminds me of just that.
I'm kinda weary of judging people by reactions or expressions of emotions. As an autistic person who's also dealt with depression for years, I've definitely had people misread my reactions or facial expressions to things. Sometimes I just kinda feel nothing when I should feel something cause of the depression, and sometimes my reactions or facial expressions aren't "correct" because of the autism. That being said, I do totally understand what your friend meant. It's also easy to say in retrospect that they were acting suspicious when you already know they cheated.
“gravity and importance” 💀
@spongecakes1986 it's circumstantial evidence
Your friend is a genius.
I thought his reactions seemed like pretty authentic acting. Most of the time fake reactions overplay their performance with celebration and screaming, where as most speedrunners who actually make world record usually tend to have themselves under control, and often remain calm and relaxed even after realizing they've achieved world record. With the amount of effort that went into faking this run, it wouldn't surprise me that his reaction is the way it is out of imitation, rather than trying to act flippant or cool.
This is going to change the fake speedrun parody meta forever. The orgasm-dance strat truly revolutionises everything
Makes the American Dad speedrun community celebrations seem like child's play. The meta has changed forever.
dude has billy mitchell phenotype
i'm absolutely obsessed with him doing a dance number like he's on disney channel after getting world record. i think more people should do this.
It should be a law, if you set a new WR you gotta have a dance number prepped.
If Dream hit a kirby victory dance when he cheated his speed run, I would've definitely believed him.
Except he took it even further beyond by busting a nut before his dance number
This is clearly the best fake speedrun ever; my man immortalized himself busting a nut and then dancing to surfin USA of all things. What a total legend.
I think it exploded my brain.
Haha
what's even the point of this? does he get money prizes?
More like loser.
@cagneybillingsley2165 he gets to say “I’m on the jumpking leaderboard!” to people ig
16:08 Well the full quote he dropped was "Call it luck? I call it skill... naaah just kidding." Perfect troll.
Yeah, it's one of the things that truly makes me think this whole persona is made up... I don't know. Maybe it is hard to differentiate since it is actually made up in the sense where he is actually acting. He isn't a speedrunner. He's just pretending. The question is if it's ironic.
17:00 like it or not, fake reacting to your own spliced run and then immediately dancing to Surfin’ USA by The Beach Boys is a fucking power move.
and then making noises like he was being railed prior to
Dear white parents: please teach your kids how to dance, it's embarrassing.
weak move to me lmao xD git gud next time
You call it luck, I call it skill.
Please teach your kids how to dance omg
* moaning *
"Yes, 364 miliseconds"
How did he get footage from my bedroom?
He's in your walls
lmao, skill issue
So you were exercising in your bedroom, must have been a quick set.
😂😂😂😂😂
That's the longest I've ever lasted
This is why no one should turn off the beautiful soundtrack created by me in babe of ascension, it helps detect cheaters :)
By you?
I imagine that music/sound would make it harder to concentrate when doing something input heavy.
@Morgil27 yep you can see even in this video my name is in the credits
weird flex, but ok
@some-replies that's not a weird flex
The “what the hell am I watching???” really made me laugh. I love these fake reactions to getting world records.
He literally just started dancing in happiness. How can that not prove his innocence?
@JorgeLopez-qj8pupack it up
@JorgeLopez-qj8pu Unexpected. Gave me a good laugh. Thank you, sir
If the moves are legit, you must acquit
That dancing was hard to watch.
I just checked some math, the end screen probably wasn't photoshopped that much anyway, considering how 17:35.785 is a multiple of 17ms. He probably just did a normal run, waited at the end until the time was around the time he wanted to get plus 10 minutes, then just edited out the 1 in the 17. That'd also explain why he didn't change the jump amount either, it was already really lazy.
My first thought on seeing the end time was that he just erased the leading digit, considering the time isn't perfectly centered with the rest of the text.
@KevinKolpack thank you, I thought I was going crazy when it wasn’t pointed out
Good catch
Guy forgot to do his modular arithmetic at the end. Rookie mistake, you hate to see it.
@Yakushii Everyone likes modular arithmetic :)
At 14:46, the spacebar display didn't show the presses when typing after the record because he popped the spacebar in second gear like Todd Togers.
Jokes aside I don't think that's conclusive in any way. He might use his keyboard to type and a different peripheral to play, I do that myself.
It says "spacebar" on screen but that might just be the name of the bind in his software, the actual bind might be something else entirely, I can do exactly that with my peripheral's software.
Not saying he didn't cheat, I'm saying the keyboard/layout thing doesn't prove/disprove much.
@ailurusfulgens1849 That's a fair comment. On it's own the spacebar evidence is not conclusive that he cheated, with the rest of the evidence it seems pretty clear cut.
I don't play this game but when their community concludes it's cheated with the evidence like the timer, number of jumps, end screen, splicing etc it's fair to take their word.
Thanks for the nuanced comment, hope others see it & you have a good day!
@ailurusfulgens1849 Yea, almost always the way cheaters are outed is with a preponderance of the evidence. Any one thing likely has several innocent explanations, but when those things start piling up it paints a pretty clear picture.
I will forever love second gear 😂
god i miss togers...todd baby if u reading this, you left the clutch in the second gear
the oscar performance is because he spent 30 hours performing save states, redoing every input and jump until he made it and then editing the software and everything else and it finally ended lmao
Me: There’s no way this is gonna beat Badabun
EpicSeaStar: [randomly starts dancing to the Beach Boys]
Me: [whispers in awe] holy fuck
In that moment, a legend was born.
you capture perfectly in words what everyone here felt when EpicSeaStar started to dance
I rarely burst out with genuine laughter at RUclips videos but this is one of those times.
Truly the Lisan al-Gaib of speedrun cheating
What about the moaning before this
“Call it luck…. I call it skill!” Billy Mitchell after ruining his reputation as much as humanly possible
This feels like he lost a bet to a friend, and this was the bet.
"You're a really good video editor. See how long you can fake being a world record speed runner in Jump King with no gameplay experience. "
That's what I'm thinking too. The groaning when celebrating and the dance really make me think he's daring people to call him out on his editing skill
@Noahhbear And I sure am enjoying the compliments im getting for it hahaha
@epicseastar5448wait was that legit then? LMAO that's awesome.
your "exposing cheaters/liars/fakers" videos are so well done and incredible. I swear, I watch them with my jaw dropped the majority of the time. I'm always baffled at the level of work that some people will go to just to avoid putting in the work. On the absolute other end of the spectrum, you put so much dedicated work, research, and care into these videos and it shows. I find myself watching them over and over again. You should compile all of your "fakers being caught" videos into a dedicated playlist! Maybe (hopefully) seeing how many liars have been called out by you put all in one place will dissuade people from trying to do it in the future.
The level of work to avoid putting in work 🤔
Guy looks like a young Billy Mitchell except he’s a more competent cheater. We might be witnessing the start of a new villain arc
Generational storytelling.
Competent in the sense he came up with a lot of tricks...but he was rather sloppy with most of them
it's hard to spawn a new milly in the non arcade era. it would need a popular game but one that most other people wouldn't actually be playing a lot(milly had access to play the games he was good at for free, which is what spawned him in the first place)
oh thank god, i thought i was the only one who thought this
"a young Billy Mitchel" would already be suing everyone questioning his skills and own a wall of fake awards.
"If you're in public don't play this out loud" 😭
💦💦💦💀
The fact he turned it into a musical at the end, like how does someone even come up with that. "I gotta make this fake speedrun seem believable, what can I do to sell it? Hmm... Oh, I know! When I finish the speedrun, I'll open Spotify, put on Beach Boys and start dancing! That'll trick 'em!"
Maybe this is just me, but I don't think Surfin' USA would be the celebration song of anyone under the age of 40, maybe even 50. The song has persisted into this century, but it has no meme appeal because it is far too genuine for a bunch of post ironic tryhard memers to take the piss on. Maybe this is what will catapult The Beach Boys back into pop culture 61 years after the song's release, but I doubt it. Maybe I shouldn't judge, but that detail alone feels so out of place that I personally can't ignore it.
Jump King Folie à Deux
@kyokyo718 regarding the meme appeal, i HAVE heard a mashup of a beach boys' song with Apple Bottom Jeans, so there's potential.
Wait, you're telling me you don't pop on Beach Boys Surfin' USA and victory dance after an epic success??
@kyokyo718 Mate, im in my early-mid 30's and I have to strongly dissagree with you on its lack of meme appeal.
3:09 adskip
Karl, please promise me that when you beat Billy Mitchell in trial, you'll do the entire EpicSeastar dance in court.
Unfortunately billy won't be there to watch it in person, they're letting him zoom in for the verdict.
@MattRandomnumberdo you know when the verdict will be in? Been following casually…not really in the loop.
@MattRandomnumber That seems fair in general, but is very disappointing
Dude, he's gonna lose. Billy's camp have dropped everything but the defamation regarding Apollo. I can't see the Judge finding in favour of Karl over that. They'll probably both have to pay their own costs though, so at least Silly Bitchell will be out of pocket too.
What Karl said regarding Billy and Apollo was not unreasonable. If a person self ends following a perceived loss of a lawsuit, one can figure how that fact may have played in to their final decision. Its no huge leap. Its easy to follow syllogism. Billy is going to lose.
He looks like a younger version of Billy
The lovechild of Billy Mitchell and Leafyishere or Onision
Lil Fibber
Willy
A clone ?
He looks like Kaka, Brazilian football player.
I love the idea the mod had about using the frame data as a script check to see if there were any fails. Saves a lot more effort than you would think.
There wasn't even a need for the script, just look at his eyebrows, he has disney villain eyebrows
@RF-INF I've heard enough, throw him in jail
This is so much effort that could have been used just to get better legitimately 😭
16:20, Karl: "But I must warn you - if you're in public, do not play this out loud."
16:28, Anyone's mom: I think I should check up on my son in his room by entering his room without knocking first.
Are ya winnin son?
"I'm respecting your privacy by knocking, but asserting my authority as your parent by coming in anyway!"
@Tenwaystospoildinner what if their child is suicidal? Parents are just worried ya know
especially if your in your room 24/7
@Elephantian-joy lmao nice correlation
@16:40 I swear i had to check my other tabs LMFAO
"Oooh, I'm fuxkkn shaking rn" lol
Actually sounded like he full on busted like 10 pumps hella gallons
what 😂
Hearing Karl describe how the cheater has to do all the acting when they're playing on camera really brought something home to me: in that moment when the cheater "wins," they have to _pretend_ to feel the incredible feeling of victory and accomplishment that they wish they could really have. They have to act it out for an audience while dying inside, and the only way that they can survive the ordeal is to truly _convince_ the audience that they are happy, in ways that the audience can't even understand. The moment of fake victory is probably the most miserable, stressful moment of a cheater's life, when it's supposed to be the most liberating. What a nightmare.
Dude, I didn't even consider this when watching him fake his reaction. Wow. Yeah, no, he really just set himself up to record the worst thing ever, huh? It must've been painful to try and fake that reaction. And having to sit there, the entire time, watching your speedrun as you fake it... wow. Soul-rending.
... All that time he spent video editing, acting, splicing, recording, playing- the amount of time put together... He could've done a legit run, and had a genuine reaction. Or a really good video editor. Or someone who watches paint dry.
People like this probably don't care at all. They like cheating.
Prior cheater here, yes I would have to fake the feeling of excitement but I wasn’t playing for that feeling so it wasn’t a big deal.
I never felt that feeling of being miserable. People don’t always cheat just to be #1, a lot of time it’s because they just want to fit into a community they like but they push their cheating too far.
Most cheaters cheat at games they think they are good enough to get high scores at anyway.(Ridiculous logic but people are silly.) Most cheaters feel justified in what they do as a result. There’s the infamous speed run done in person by Cody Miller, who had multiple cheated world records at Halo at the time. When he showed up to do it in person, he bombed so bad that they made a new rule at the event he played at that speedruns that are going embarrassingly badly can be canceled by the event staff. It is worth looking up his Halo speedrun to see a cheater be completely publicly exposed in the most embarrassing way possible, lol.
Most cheaters aren't doing it for the actual satisfaction of winning. They do it for the recognition they are hoping to get from others who play the game. So the praise they get from it is the high they want.
"i'm fucking shaking right now" in a weirdly sensual calm voice
0:16 yooo the screen with my profile pic
i was happy when i saw intro added that in
Yassssskweeeeen

👐
friendly reminder that cringemic sponsored betterhelp and didn't take the video down. 😄
Lol youre famous
Haha I remember that video of you trying to get to it
18:31 he must take dance lessons from the great Olympian break dancer raygun
xD
I laughed so hard when Karl goes to " this is how pro players play" and it cut to a photo of korone.
I was gonna comment the exact same thing 😂
you got a timestamp?
7:20 @tmob1325
@tmob1325 7:15
@tmob1325 7:14
16:45 bro just finished the goon sesh.
This is the speedrun equivalent of spending more time and energy making a cheat sheet for a test than you would have just actually studying to pass it
Not really. An academic test anyone can pass if they study enough without a cheat sheet, whether that be 1 person or 1000 people. His goal was to be number 1, that requires more than just study. I doubt very highly that with all the practice in the world that he could have achieved number 1 on the leaderboard without the cheater sheet as per your analogy
Actually: writing a cheat sheet is a good way to study. It forces you to review the material and compress it down as much as possible.
Making a cheat sheet IS studying, brother
@economicprisoner Cheat sheet? Nah, summary paper. Always worth writing out even if the exam is closed book, it is probably the most effective way to cram study.
He says "I'm f-ing shaking right now" but he is perfectly still...
he forgot to edit in the shake
With observational skills like that I'm surprised you didn't catch him, Detective ser_702
@kaydog890 I'm going to need a veteran team of detectives to find out if that's sarcasm
I hope somebody got fired for that blunder
He's like those people who type "lmfao" when their ass is still completely attached.
-Comes out of nowhere and starts dominating speedruns
-Inconsistent frames
-Inconsistent timer
-Inconsistent shaking
-Inconsistent jump counter
-Inconsistent volume
-Inconsistent keyboard display
-Mouse not even syncing up with gameplay
-Tommy Wiseau acting
How tf was this dude not caught immediately? lmao.
I was thinking the same. If he was already under suspicion, how comes these items wherent already checked? They're clearly known proofs
They wanted to be featured on the karlsjobst channel so they let a terrible cheater go wild for a bit
It's probabably two reasons why cheaters aren't caught immediatly. First of all, Jump King is not a game with the most eyeballs on it, much less people who would have the effort to go through runs slowly with analytic eyes to spot this stuff. Second of all, it's work no one is paid to do.
Though, the missing zero at the end feels like a gigantic red flag that would have been very easily spotted
😂😂
I did not hit her, I did not
There isn't a group of people sitting idle to inspect every run submitted for a relatively unpopular game in a relatively small community. Lol
16:01 "Call it luck, I call it skill" ... I call it fake.
Dumbest SO FAR*
With the amount of work he put into faking it, he probably could've been better than he was pretending to be if he just played the game lol. What a dork
All that work just for some clout in a very niche internet community
"I was playing 4D chess guys"
Nah its kinda hard to be good at this game let alone speedrun it if you don't have the innate skills to back it up. Also he probably learned editing in school or somewhere to do this so he didn't waste time learning he just wasted time editing which is probably a lot idk but its not enough time to get no. 1 on speedrun leaderboard.
@Humandefectthis. No way are those basic video editing tricks transferable skills to speedrunning jk.
@Humandefect Most people don't have the fingers for competing at the top level in any game (or any competition in general, you can extend this to anything), some people are capable of reaching a higher skill ceiling because their nerve fibres happen to be better insulated or whatever. You physically can't compete with the best of the best, but people will cheat for the high of pretending they're special. People like Rodd Todgers and Silly Bi***ell, for example. Their egos are based on lies, the BM court case is him protecting his sense of self-worth.
There's nothing wrong with not being genetically exceptional, but a lot of narcissists and children especially find it hard to swallow that they aren't.
7:17 your yubis are safe... For now
I smashed mine a bit at work today, surely she doesn't still want them... right?
Saw Korone and immediately went to see if anyone timestamped 🫡
When you said „Don’t play it out loud”, I didn’t know what to expect but the guy certainly sounds like he’ll be expecting after that
He was shaking after xDD
1:20 He looks like the best Donkey Kong player ever.
Karl Jobst is a cheater. It's very obvious that he splices his RUclips videos together - just look at 4:02. he tries to hide it with a common cheating technique called a "fade" - but I caught it almost immediately. /s
Naw man, he nailed the War Thunder split and got a 1.34 on “Legends”. He’s just that good.
Good eye
Wow, thisnis soul crushing news. 😂
"If you're in public, don't play this out loud" LMAO
Karl is an actual legend for the moan warning. That shit was crazy😭😭😭
Everybody's gone surfin with this one boys
17:07 So can we say that any future speedrunner dances are just now going to be them Surfin' U.S.A. going forward? ;)
Jobst still dropping videos after court. I'm here for it.
Billy mitchell stole his mclaren. =(
You don't know how court works do you? 😂
You aren't inside of a court room everyday for months and months.
You may be in the courtroom for a total of 5-10 hours in months of litigation in civil cases like this.
His lawyer is in the courthouse when there needs to be someone there and most of your time would prolly be in your lawyers office or on phone calls
"Your honor, can we break for recess? I need to upload a new cheating scandal."
Ok mr redditor u may go outside now@bigleeneth
@bigleeneth🤓
"If you're in public, do not play this out loud."
Brother, I played it in private and still cringed so hard, I collapsed into a black hole.
354 milliseconds!
@PurooRoy HAHAHAHAHA
One of the things I cant stand are the fake reactions, not because I get mad, its because it is extremely cringe lmaoo
This man meticulously plotted out and executed the most elaborate, convoluted bank heist ever - but forgot to put gas in the get away car.
Sometimes I watch this again just for that dance number. Absolute cinema
16:43 "If your in public do not play this out loud" lmaoooooo
15:35 bro really stood there looking at his self playing screen and hit them 200 v bucks emotes
probably spliced his dance number from hundreds of different separate moves to create this master piece of expression
There should be a Hall of Shame for those fake speedruns that takes bigger effort to fake, than to play the game.

Schmooey would be proud
He's back 💀
was he the guitar hero cheater? Been so many its hard to keep track of them all
@kartiksaraf4676 ye
That bizarrely high effort photoshop/video edit work cracks me up. It's likely that he found Jump King's font somewhere and recreated the timer/location names with it. It's rare for a small game dev to make his own font when they can easily license something that fits their game
Considering the fade-in/fade-out on the text isn't what it should have been, I'm inclined to believe this is what he did. There's just no way a kid would have gone through the effort of using relatively high effort video editing just to fake speedruns.
yeah im thinking the same thing
As someone who has experience with video editing, I would’ve waited until the letters reach full opacity, screenshotted it, cropped it down in paint and made the background black, then chroma keyed the screenshots in and faked the fade in/out in the editor. Once or twice I’ve recreated sequences like that on my RUclips channel to improve the comedic effect.
Crazy amount of effort to impress a community of 60 Jump King speedrunners lmao. Jesus.
@justanotheryoutubechannel I think it's more likely that he created his own basic-ass map with a black background and a screen transition, and then created areas transitions with the correct names in his "map", recorded that "gameplay" for his video editing, then overlaid the recorded area name transitions the same way he did with the in-game timer. The area names aren't hand-crafted art assets being displayed, they're just strings of texts rendered by the game engine using a specific font.
"If you are in public, do not play this out loud"
Why? Is he gonna like swear alot or something?
oh...
15:22 "otherwise i'm gonna cough so much" ahh reaction
I gotta say this would have been a really good resume for a video editor. The kid has some talent in video editing to do all that work. Especially getting the fonts right for the titles and everything.
Misused talents is always sad 😢
Since there are custom levels, I think he just made a custom level with that room name in a black level just like the timer.
not really... any idiot could do those things if they tried.
he probably paid 2 usd to an indian on fiverr to edit them
It's nothing impressive in terms of skill in video editing, but it is impressive of the department of worthless effort.
Rooting for you, Karl. Can’t wait to hear your breakdown of the trial!
As an Australian Karl will REALLY appreciate that you’re rooting for him.
There's some coverage of it over on Perfect Pacman, each day is a long read, but it's awesome.
@Peannlui believe me, I’ve been following up on everything with the trial, I just can’t wait until Karl gets his chance to make a video about it!
@Peannlui There is a Text-to-Speech summary, though it amusingly mangled Moist Cr1tkl's name
Not muting the mouse is actually crazy to miss
So crazy man it's just like all this effort to fake it when you could just use the effort to play the game😂
7:30 korone 😊
7:16 "When you watch top level players..."
And it's Korone "Have Confidence" Inugami
Nah just a speedrunner putting an image of her there. Hanyeah is the name, but for a moment I was fooled too.
No confidence
Jump King in the cheating! WHY?
I thought she was the high level player he was referring too then I realized it’s just a picture
This is the equivalent of modifying a bought computer to convince your teacher that you built it but forgetting to take off the price label
Why would your teacher care
@Sam-ql4umcomputer engineering professor, final project. Use brain
it's just sad, man
There's something beautiful about someone pretending to feel what they would have actually felt if they did it legitimately. It's poetic. He robbed himself of experiencing these moment genuinely. Even if he never got caught he would have had to live with the fact that this achievements are fake, and that he never truly got what he wanted. The rush of victory.
Idk, his goal wasn't to enjoy the game. His goal was to pull the wool in front of our eyes, which he succeeded for a while, that probably made him feel like a winner.
I also wouldn't call this a dumb cheater, on the contrary, he's pretty skilled, just not as a player. Considering he's just a kid, he did pretty well with his little show.
@VikingTeddy That wasn't my point either. My point was pointing out that he had to fake his achievement in order to pretend to experience what he would have felt if he actually did it legitimately. That's downright poetic. Some Greek tragedy tier shit. You could write a book about someone like that slowly being eaten by the knowledge that his celebrations are fake, and that he's not experiencing any of this genuinely.
the human experience is bittersweet
People like this just want the adulation, even if not deserved.
@TheGlenn8 💀💀💀
To be fair, "two of the most popular custom maps" doesn't mean they were actually speedrun by hundreds of players. Custom Maps is a niche category in Jump King. If the run was on the main leaderboard (of which I'm not a moderator) it would have been caught a lot earlier (based on Seastar's messages on the discord server from around that time he cheated the runs, it was his next goal to "get a world record" on one of the vanilla maps, Ghost of the Babe, but he probably realized that it wouldn't work).
I was the one who verified the runs in the first place and, since the community and other moderators view the thing that I brought this up to light as "redeeming myself", I'm still a moderator of the custom maps leaderboard (you can say they gave me a second chance). I learned my lesson and I will be much more careful from now on!
I recommend you to try Jump King yourself if you haven't yet, it's a great game and the community is very wholesome!
EDIT: Thanks for all the kind words (and for the satirical negative comments too)!
P.S. thanks for the great, as always, video Karl! ❤
ridiculous that they gave you a second chance after verifying something so obvious, frankly if that were me I'd have banished you from the community itself, gave 100 lashes, and forced you to play babe of bloodmoon until completion
@Valmerix Well it's a good thing you aren't in charge of that decision then. Mistakes happen.
The Jump King Custom Map Moderation Team should be utterly embarrassed to retain your employment. It is absolutely unfathomable how you could make such an incredible mistake. Dare I say it's possible it may have been intentional and there is a deeper conspiracy at hand. Disgraceful.
@trimpkingemployment? As in "work for pay"? Where can i sign up?
@trimpking I hope this is satire. I really, really hope that, because the other explanation is unfathomably embarrassing for you.
Seeing my map mentioned in a Karl Jobst video in 2024 really jumpscared my weekend. Good video as always!
16:29 Dreamybull approves.
I know three things for certain:
1: Taxes must be paid
2: Everyone will eventually pass away.
3: If you cheat in speedruns Karl and company will catch you.
And the first two are optional
Karl wasn't the one that caught him though? He's just a presenter
@mcz1945 #2 is the the only way to be certain of dodging #1 tbh
#4 one bite, everybody knows the rules
More like some very dedicated people who you wouldnt quess existed will catch you
11:19 "Truth be told, I don't even know how to do this easily." I don't think it'd need to be sophisticated at all. I could mimic that easily without even knowing what chroma keying is in the video editing software I use. My guess is he probably screen capped the title when it was fully opaque, cropped the title, imported the cropped image into the video editor, then mimicked the fade the game uses by setting the opacity at different levels at the right time/frame intervals in the video editor, and then put that on top of the footage.
7:15 KORONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
15:28 "Oh my ggawdddd 💀💀 finally done with editing 🗣🗣 time to get some good sleep knowing that people will be praising me tomorrow 🗿🗿"
Lol his reaction to the "WR" is hilarious, the first one is more after you best an annoying boss, the second is after a particularly good session with your partner.
"If you're in public, do not play this out loud."
Karl you're a real G for that warning cus oh my LORD
16:28
F A T
N U T
16:03 Call it luck, I call it skill...
Love it, the hand instinctively goes to silence the lying mouth.
He must've meant his video editing skills :)
Then he says “just kidding” which is actually the truth
15:33 why does bro sound like he’s having the biggest piss of his life 💀
EDIT: 16:27 HOLY SHIT IT GETS WORSE LMAO
16:26
Audio warning 100% warranted 🤣
17:07 This is probably the most random thing that any speedrunner could do
15:23 spaceuk ahh reaction
The worst thing about cheating is that, later, if you accomplish anything, people won't believe you. This little dude just burned his career with a "jumping game".
I can almost guarantee that his career life will see zero impact from his niche platformer game cheating. Employers don't really care what hobbies you spend your free time on.
unless that accomplishment is in video editing
@RyanGerhardtYimimoto HAHAHA
@theKashConnoisseur speedrunning career, numpty.
I mean considering how often he had to splice, I don't think he'd have any speedrunning career to begin with, even if he never cheated lol
That song? Those moves? Cheating? This man is truly a goblin from another timeline
He looks like a young Billy Mitchell...
16:28 making Nick Manning proud❤
Absolutely CRAZY how good it sounds like "corn".
The fact he did a little fake dance was just the icing on the cake... I can't imagine doing that when Karl Jobst is gonna find you anyway 😭 dude danced on his own speedrunning grave
Tfw you fake a speedrun soo hard you bust the fattest of nuts before continuing to emote on the audience
This is the best thing since the Ram ranch Celeste run
the WHAT celeste run???
@PenguinLord10I think the video was deleated and never archived, but it did exist.
@Aceshot-uu7yx this is incredibly disappointing news.
@freedustin there is a video covering it from 2-3 years ago. Watch that on one device and have ram ranch play on another and see the chaos go.
@freedustin the video covering it is by Mshubi and is titled "the weirdest world record speedrun" or something like that.
ROFLMAO. I lost it at 16:20.
It is clear from the glaring issues with the end screen statistics, the edited timer and zone names, he has no idea how the game even works. Would not be surprised if he has spliced together OTHER player's runs.
