Amazing and beautiful animals. Some thoughts that go through my mind when I see them:
    1. If they could move their hind legs independently, what would they look like running? (I believe they are like rabbits and their legs are not able to move very far independent of each other.)
    2. Does joey track mud, dirt, grass, leaves, into mama’s pouch, and if so, how is it kept clean?
    3. Imagine if human women had a pouch, there’s be no need for purses. Haha.

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful questions! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our video on baby kangaroos.
      1. It's fascinating to think about how kangaroos would move if their hind legs could operate independently. Their legs are designed to move together, giving them their unique hopping motion. Kangaroos cannot move their hind legs independently; their legs work in unison to generate the powerful force needed for hopping. This synchronized movement is essential for their efficient and energy-saving locomotion. The structure of their legs, including strong muscles and elastic tendons, supports this unique mode of movement.
      2. Joeys do sometimes bring dirt and debris into their mother's pouch. However, kangaroo mothers are very diligent about keeping their pouches clean. They use their tongues to meticulously groom the inside of the pouch, removing any dirt, debris, or foreign substances. Additionally, kangaroos produce antimicrobial substances that help inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms within the pouch, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for their young.
      3. Haha, that's a fun thought! A pouch would certainly be a handy feature for carrying things around.
