Diane, this is sooo beautiful & soft; yet detailed…love it💕 Do you tap your brush on the cloth towel or on a paper towel after each water rinse…or do you just tap the brush on the water jar’s edge & retain some water & take up the next watercolour to apply?
I am just exploring water color and find your videos so helpful. I appreciate the pace at which you teach and all the little tips. Your work is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your gifts!
Just saw this Diane and Tasmin, really touched by your love, empathy and definite down to earthiness, we all need so much in this needy world. Thank you. Just joined on pantheon and excited 👋👋
Thank you sooo much for such a fantastic teaching video. I am just starting to paint with watercolor? I'm 78 years old and this was extremely helpful. I watch your videos several times a week. I appreciate your talent.
Watching you create these so simply makes me believe I can too. The best part is that they already look beautiful in different stages and then you make them even more beautiful thank you.
I’m in the middle of painting poppies along with you! I can’t thank you enough. THANK YOU! I’ve been painting poppies all summer with little success. I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. We have poppies from early spring through autumn. Oh, we’re in California. The poppies start in the spring looking almost red by now(we’re in September) and they have c one through the seasons of turning bright orange red to dark gold to yellow and now thy are a pale gold. With your tutelage I actually made some beautiful poppies.. thank you, again. I have drawn some rocks, several pages of the them and are waiting for the graphite pallet I ordered from your shop. I introduced my sister and my niece to water coloring a while ago and I have suggested they watch your channel. I also told them about you lovely store. I’m so happy I have found you.
Love your teachings. Great for those of us who are just learning watercoloring. You have a soothing voice which does make a difference. Thank you and God Bless
Thank you for this video! The poppies are so delicate and gorgeous! I’m using your techniques to paint a picture of poppies for my daughter’s 51st birthday.
I really got a lot out of this video Diane. I love your informal , dash in approach but this gave me the tools I need to increase my skill set so that when I free flow I have skills too! Thanks 😄
Love finding these videos from a year or two ago! I tried this one but will go back and do it again…and maybe more until I’m happy with it because I love yours!
This is the 1st of your videos I have seen. Dianne I am blown away by your brush techniques those poppies are stunningly beautiful . I just love learning such achievable skills. Thank you so much 💓 Ksthy from Sydney Australia
Hi Kathy and welcome to the channel! I’m so glad you found us all the way from Sydney, I’m really pleased you are here. The time difference can make it hard to feel connected for you I know, plus of course everyone is always on about things with an American slant. I know I have quite a few ladies from Oz and I wish I knew more about your flora and fauna then I could paint more of it. meanwhile, so glad that you are going to learn the layering of paint for the poppies. It’s great fun and very calming if you just let yourself have the time! Take care xxx
I scrolled through some older posts, I particularly enjoyed this one. I have water brushes and have not really used them. After watching you, I think I’ll give them another try.
Thanks Diane I put my watercolors away went back to acrylics but the way you apply watercolors is awesome I have just subscribed to few days ago. Lovely paint poppies I can grow them but now I will have a go...lol from kk in new zealand
This was beautiful and I really appreciate the practice petals and how you explain the technique. I keep practicing and my results are beyond my hopes. Thanks so much!
I haven’t finished the piece yet but I just have to say you have helped me so much already. Thank you for actually teaching and not just showing. The other thing…I get so frustrated with myself. I hit my elbow on the chair, knock the light into my Quin Magenta, drop the brush, put my hand in the wet paint and, well, need I go on? When I heard you drop the brush and the cat comment 😅😅I felt so much better. Just what I needed in so many ways.
Diane~ Hello from rural Wyoming! Thank you for sharing your creativity, your skills and your thoughts with us. You’re a wonderful teacher and mentor. Watching your videos is like painting with a much beloved friend. Please continue to share your very bright light during these difficult times. Best to you!
Thank you so much Karen, I really appreciate your comment and your support! It’s such a nice thing that you have said, it really means a lot to me. Hope you are enjoying your painting! Wishing you the best of health xxx
I’m still very much a learner to this wonderful craft. My poppies were a bit of a disaster but damn those bees were so cute. And mine turned out rather well. Thank you so much for that
Diane, these poppies are absolutely gorgeous! I love the layering technique and you explained the process so well, as always. Thank you for another enjoyable video.
The hardest part is the drying! I love that nothing has to be totally defined but a soft image that sparks imagination 💭 I never thought of using watercolor pencils on wet for definition or pen and ink over dry to make the sketch come through….what a world you have created for me❣️Discovering in my 50’s 😱 Thank you so much Diane for helping to break through my block…to tell the truth, so has embroidery with Sarah Homfray… painting seems to be the technique I lost along the way…it’s amazing how much we all have lost the simple pleasures because of the internet, electronics and technology and perhaps going to the local bar…🙏🏽🙋🏻♀️👍🏽Mia
