Brenda, I just drool over your wonderful scraps. I love working with scraps and crumbs but alas have no Mount Scrapmore of my own. I used to buy bags of other peoples scraps at local guild quilt shows, but since covid, most of these shows have been cancelled. I realize a "how to do wonderful things with scraps" channel is not the best place to try to find more scraps, but would appreciate suggestions or offers from you and other people on how to acquire scraps! I'm in Toronto.

@@AnitaSouthall Thanks, Anita. I'll try some of these. Postage has gotten awfully expensive lately, so I'm trying to see what I can find locally until the local quilt shows start up again.
Try thrift shops. A lot of the ones here have a fabric section. People donate a lot of fabric, thankfully as I don't have a large mount scrapmore either lol
@@sandramassey5673 I'm also suffering from lack of scrapsitis. I think I'll ask my friend who belongs to a guild if they would sell me some scraps. I'd join the guild but is at 8am. 🥴 Who wants to do anything at 8am? There are days I'm lucky if I've gone to bed much before 8. 😳 Insomnia is a bad thing for sure but I'm still a natural night owl. The only way I'm getting up early is if I'm being paid to do so or I'm catching a flight to somewhere fun.

Hi Aviva. I'm not sure what you are asking. Please send me an email and you can find my email on the about tab. I would love to make a viewer requested video. I hope you have a gentle and kind week ahead. Thanks for watching and supporting our little channel.
I'm presuming you mean a simple lemoyne star - the diagonal of a square is always 1.414 of the short side, so if you have 1" squares in the corner, your long side of the triangle is 1 .414; the diamond sides are also 1" . If you make templates to cut, don't forget to add seam allowances. So the total measurement is 3.414, you can use this to make any size block by taking the finished block size, say 12" and dividing by 3 .414, the result is the size of the corner square which allows you to calculate the other sizes. Don't forget when adding seams for triangles to add that extra 0.875, I add 1.25" .

Hi Dakota! I'm glad that you asked that question. In my sewing room, a string is a long thin piece of fabric that is more than 3/4 in wide but does not exceed 2 in and that does not include the fringe. In my sewing room, a crumb is more Rectangle or square shaped and is bigger than 3/4 in but does not exceed 5.0 in. The weird triangles I sew together to make into squares or rectangles. But you get to decide what works for you in your sewing room. I hope you have a great week ahead! Thanks for watching and supporting our little channel.
Hello Linda! I'm delighted that you liked this and found it a little inspiring. These are fun little blocks that can create a very interesting diamond block or a lone star quilt. It is a great way to use up your strings and crumbs. I measure the sewn edges and add 1 inch to cut my squares and the triangle pieces are measured and then I look for the 45 degree angle on a squared ruler for the triangles. Then because I cut larger, I trim after the quilt is quilted to square up. We have a Facebook group and our virtual sew date is Sept 3, 2022 so if you are interested, the zoom link is in the most current video's show notes. EBay, local thrift stores, ask on craft groups on Facebook is places to start
Can you show how to figure out the quarter square triangles that make the stars into a square? (Not the method that uses seams in the background.)
@@MrsGraphiteGal thanks, thought there was a formula.
@@AvivaHadas Just a thought, if you want to have a block finish a certain size, reverse the steps.

Hi Brenda, thank you for inspiring me to try this quilt. I love watching you. I have one question. Do you think I could do it quilt as you go per leg of the star?
Hello Tam! I'm delighted that you enjoyed our video! I'm not sure if you could do this as a quilt as you go project. You could try it by breaking this into quarters. What’s the difference between a string and a crumb? Do each have to be a minimum size? Thank you!
I started putting this quilt together but how do I know what size fabric to put in the empty space to bring it together
I do hope you can come on Saturday and I can explain this better to you. I hope you have a beautiful week ahead! Thank you for watching and supporting our little channel
