I have the same problem on my Twingo, did you have to unscrew any bolt before taking out the sensor or did you just pull it?

I think I did a litle twist with it when I pulled it out (you just have to pull it really hard). Then disassemble it (you have to cut near the upper part, you will se a line there where it is combined) and use soldering iron and jus press soldering joints with it. It still works 2 years from then.

My 1999 model has a retaining clip holding the sensor in place and pull as hard as you like, it WON'T come out until it is removed. To access the clip you have to get under the car (use ramps or axle stands!) and reach up close to the power steering rack. It fits through a bracket into the sensor. Someone looking down at the sensor from above should be able to guide you. The clip comes out easily with some pliers and THEN the sensor just pops out easily. It is only then held in with it's own o-ring seals. Fleabay sells replacements for £6.00 -7.00. Replacement is the reverse and the retaining clip goes back in easily!
