    Nothing to do with the vid(which I found helpful because I feel I always get it wrong lol) but your voice is so freaking peaceful, and calming, it makes it easier to take in the information😊

    What you say is interesting but the skinny elongated figures are hard to relate to and I can't see enough difference between the figures to really see the differences you are talking about. Some photo examples would help

    Brilliant!
    A popular look, indeed, and definitely awkward if lines and colors don't match body type and skin tone.
    Personally, this is not the most presentable aesthetic for me. Cold pastels are my worst colors, and I have noticed that the lines are usually short, hence very little flattering for a tall and slender frame.
    I can imagine this is where the ablended/Classiscs shine.

    I totally agree - I'm high-contrast so beiges make me look dead, and the styles are not flattering on my Romantic type figure. I think it looks best on tall, sporty figures and it would make me feel like I'm wearing a uniform - not the best look :S
    PS - You have my dream hair! Lucky you! :)

    Thank you for explaining that sharpened, soft (Soft Dramatics) don't have that glamorous look when dressing "old money" and that colors can be deeper. I love the old money look, have even before this current fad, but it's so conservative that it feels separate from me. Even my beautiful strand of pearls looks off. maybe some baroque pearls would be better 😊.
    As a plus size, I always struggle anyway, finding SD pieces for everyday, so I end up looking either far too casual in jeans and a t-shirt (which I hate), or overdressed.

    • @loelli_
      @loelli_ Год назад +5

      the struggle with casual dressing for us SDs is so real.. until I discovered I was a Soft Dramatic (only in the past like year and a half really), I never understood why I didn't look good in effortless or classic clothing pieces or would have breakdowns any time I had to pick out an outfit for a casual event. Seriously thought there was something wrong with my body. I still struggle with it, but now realize I just have to work with my lines in whatever I'm trying to achieve.
      Also, def think some larger baroque pearls could look amazing!! 💖

      I am still struggling with this in retirement! my best looks are pencil skirts and kitten heels with a shapely, soft blouse (rather than a masculine shirt). I have to live almost totally in casual nowadays, living in the countryside and being retired, but just have not got it right so far. @@loelli_

    The vertical exaggeration in these drawings is too extreme to be useful. Fashion is usually scaled 10 head lengths in the body, which is already exaggerated, but these are more line 12 to one.

    This is how I dressed for the past 50 years! Classic styles for work I loathe fads and this is a fad that will soon have a backlash...that is when I will pick up new items. I have already bought 2 traditional vests for summer. I am a warm blonde , fair skin blue eyes so look best in light colors camel up to ivory navy is my black. I actually need a navy and an ivory summer weight blazer.

    Hi Merriam, I have a question. When you talk about Cool and delicate, you mean summer in the twelve color seasons theory or you mean dark winter?, thanks in advance

    • @di3486
      @di3486 Год назад

      That’s what I have found it’s most likely the case. (True) summer has my best colors for cool and delicate.

    • @merriamstyle
      @merriamstyle  Год назад +6

      cool and delicate is summer and dark winter. cool and delicate can be light and muted colors, medium depth and muted colors (summer), or dark and muted colors (dark winter). Back when I started making videos, I had to make cool and delicate for myself because Dark Winter didn't exist. I only saw it around in recent times after Artistic License.

    @jewelryboxballerina Год назад +4

    As for mixed soft/soft gamine, what about shoes? Soft gamines always get the shortest amount of details and tips in these types of videos. The SG segment is always so brief, yet it's one of the most difficult body types for a grown woman to be honestly. We need a lot more help than the other body types imho.

    • @strawberrylove5684
      @strawberrylove5684 Год назад +1

      I’ve always thought SG people were lucky, with lots of options! But I guess that might not be as true as it seems from the outside (I’m a SD myself). But I always thought, if I was a SG, I would just re-watch all of Pretty Little Liars and copy a bunch of Aria’s outfits (actress Lucy Hale, a SG). They dressed her body type so well in that show, and her outfits were always so much more eye-catching than any of the other characters

    • @jewelryboxballerina
      @jewelryboxballerina Год назад +1

      @strawberrylove5684 Well, her outfits are from designer brands, and she had help from professional stylists. However, for the rest of us it's not that easy. It is very difficult to find clothes for SGs from regular retailers. It's exhausting. Most retailers cater to Classics and Naturals while the other body types fall in between, except SGs. We're left out. FGs have it easier than we do as well. Soft gamine styles are easy to find from designer brands like Miu Miu, Gucci, Red Valentino, etc. but who can afford that?!
