  • Lee Loadmaster Setup is simple, but there are some things you need to be aware of. Here we discuss the setup on the Lee Loadmaster and test the function of the press in the basic stages. The Lee Loadmaster is a great press that I've run for years and its always worked well as long as I pay attention to the functional setup and lubrication.

    I'm just starting so thanks for the in depth videos. Oddly enough as I was reading the Lee reloading guide, I could have swore they said NOT to use Remington primers but to use Winchester and CCI? Also It said by law you are only allowed to store ten pounds of powder at a time!?
    Then again, I could be completely full of it, so don't think I am trying to give you a hard time. I found in setting up my Loadmaster that any use of oil, grease and even many spray lubricants would cause the many plastic pieces to stick or slow down and not work!? Very aggravating, not sure why Lee chose to use plastic, unless maybe for lower costs. I did find that powder graphite, and a silicone spray do work fairly well. I had heard a comment about Lee machines being good for those who like to tinker or have a mechanical background, I have found that to be true!
    Keep the videos coming, if you could work through all the stages of loading with your clear explanations it would be great. I have found that while Lee and Hornady (Dies) come with instructions they are not super clear and easily confuse us new guys.
    For example, I am processing 9mm brass with the APP press and the APP swage die set, and cannot get it set up correctly. The instructions say one method and many you tube videos say another method, both over size the primer pocket in my case. Very frustrating.... Keep it up, I look forward to more.

    Do you happen to have part 3 of the Lee Loadmaster setup available anywhere? Can't seem to find it. Part 1 and 2 are great. Helped me out so much.

    Amazing. At 5:11 by all appearances you put the indexing rod in with the camber pointed up instead of to the right. And it still runs miles better than mine lol. Go figure. Really good setup vids - very handy for someone new (like myself) doing some kind of obscene compressed learning cycle to get the press running. Keep up the good work.

    The biggest problem I had with my loadmaster is with primers. Flipped primers are bad with these presses. Fix that by extending the hex shaped spike that hangs down and advances the primer feed arm. Place a washer behind it and it will advance the primer feed just enough. It will ensure the primer is in position before the shell come down on it.

    Very good video, I think the main reason people think these loaders are junk is because of the crap instructions that come with them, I daresay few ever get them set up right if they don't find a instruction video

      I left mine sit for 20+ yrs, and have just finished scraping off the rust and refurbishing it, and it actually works again. I personally think Load Master is very well engineered, but you are right, the tiny little pamphlet you get with it doesn't adequately cover this machine.

      @@vaughnprecision Hey bud so its nearly 3 years later how has the loadmaster been? Are you still using it or have you went to Dillon like a lot of folks do? Ive been loading for about 6 years, single stage first then Lee classic turret, cast and powder coat for 3 calibers, i really like the loadmaster especially for the price and think its well made, I hear a lot of people bashing them probably because they may lack mechanical abilities or patients or maybe both, thanks for the well done videos and I value your opinion, hope your doing well nowdays.

    Thanks for the very helpful video. I've just bought the loadmaster and I'm struggling trying to get the dies to line up ok. I know there's a locating lug / notch in the turret, however, when I use this and try to cycle the dies they don't line up with the cases and require the locking nut to be back ed off and the turret turned to line the dies up, then I can only slightly tighten the locking nut and it's then off centre from the locating notch. This is a brand new press and I would have thought that once the turret is in the notch the dies should be lined up or am I misunderstanding the very poor Lee instructions!
    Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    • @davecrawford1454
      @davecrawford1454 7 лет назад

      Vaughn Precision I believe I do, you have to put the turret in and then turn it slightly to aligned it with the notch and then screw in the set screw, it's been driving me nuts for the last few hours. Previously I had a Lee turret press so I'm no stranger to their products
