You are not doing it wrong the stealth boys suck in fallout 4
+Amir Granderson
Go away, Todd.
never used one. Only use chameleon legendary effect
Amir Granderson Stop shushing; it's making too much noise.
Stealth generally suck in Fallout 4. In Skyrim two thirds of my characters were stealthy persons; that shows how awesome stealth was there. In contrast in FO4 stealth game play is very restricted since successful ninja should be super agile, super strong and fighting through VATS all the time to do unrealistic 40 feet away melee attacks, also resulting in being dumb as rock and unpleasant as radroach.
no they don't
people pay good for them
"Hei Gui" means "Black Ghost". Which probably explains why it's black and stealthy.
Def Or that the suite is meant to be black and stealthy because of its purpose.
also mean the N word
I think the enemies can see/hear you because of a mutation
Cause of rads
Chinese?
Didn't hear you talk about the special Railroad stealthboys (001b5b28) that last 10 seconds longer. Or about the Deacon affinity perk that gives a +40% bonus to the stealthboy duration.
No need to, you summed it up well. Pinned.
L&D Fifa Chameleon Armor?
I'll check and see if that's the name of the right arm legendary stealth armor that I found. It makes me turn invisible - exactly like I've seen in videos about the Stealth Boy - when I crouch/go into stealth mode.
.........
+Your lord And Savior Tachanka
I can confirm it too. The name of the piece of armor I had is "Chameleon Synth Right Arm". -- I wish I could transfer it to my new game.
The only reason I had to abandon the game where I found the armor is that I'd made such bad choices with my stats that it had become almost impossible for me to survive any of the fights I got into.
I'd hardly even consider it cheating if I could transfer the armor because as I see it I'm really just trying to get to where I was but without the game breaking mistakes I made the first time, and I've paid the price of going through hours and hours of re-playing the first ca. 20 levels.
But of course, that's a matter of perspective. :)
SuperAbominable1 I just use deacons perk, the railroad stealthboy and I use a mod that makes the stealth Boy last 2 minutes longer
SuperAbominable1 stealth boys (not railroad) are made for a snipper build nothing more
I thought the stealth boy was as far as the US could get. They couldn't replicate the stealth suit. The stealth boy being as far as they could get. The US General or folk at the Pentagon mentioned in the switchboard terminal were angry they werent matching the Chinese when it came to stealth field tech. We learn the Reds are on the verge of putting this tech on military vehicles. If PAM was correct. So lore wise the Reds were years ahead of the US in stealth field technology.
Basically this. While the US were leagues ahead of the Chinese when it came to nuclear power (allowing them to make things like power armor and laser/plasma weapons), the Chinese had a big lead on stealth tech. It's also why the Yangtze managed to get right inside Boston harbor - it's a stealth submarine.
They supposedly had good tanks too (though that might have been General Chase lying), but generally the US had them completely outgunned, albeit not outnumbered. The stealth tech was their trump card.
Imagine power armor with stealth technology? Not only would someone be wearing a tank but they'd be practically invisible.
@@twistedyogertinvisible but not silent
fallout 4 stealthboys are useless. I can't sneak anywhere with them. I can max my sneak and pass an army in daylight but as a noob with a stealthboy at night I couldn't pass a blind deaf *corpse* without being detected.
try investing perks
I only use stealthboy in FO4 to remove the fusion core of raider and gunner wearinh Power armor but it only work couple of time
*Dallas:* sneaks past a skeleton
*210YearOldSkeleton:* “yeah you ain’t getting by chief”
*Dallas:* “Son of a bi-” dies
@@analothor The point he is making is that the stealth boy should exist to offer a character that didn't spec stealth to be capable of stealth for a short period of time
@@RealSkelzore yea you're right
I've never really used stealth boys in FO3-FO4. I've never been a big item user...
I never used to use items but then I'd be in a situation end game where I have the awesome armor and weapons and perk and no use at all for items. I try to force myself to use them more early on. It's a conscious effort because I want to horde everything "in case I need it more later".
I don't even take the drugs in Fallout 4
Jericho Welsin
I try not to cuz I always end up being addicted. Maybe I'll drink some alcohol if I am carrying too much so I can fast travel. But I don't even sell it, I just stash it all in a container in Sanctuary.
Same here. At most I'll take a beer or two if I am expecting high charisma dialogue options, or maybe a Buffout just for the strength bonus so I can fast-travel.
I'm an incredibly "conventional" player. Ballistic small-arms, usually just one rifle and a pistol unless I feel like sniping, in BOS fashion I use laser weapons or a Gatling/minigun with power-armor, and I carry stimpaks, water, nuka-cola, corn, a handful of Rad-X, one RadAway, and that's about it.
I don't even need the pistol, technically, and I could use the weight space and then some to triple up on rifle ammo, but I do like some variety and a backup in case I run out of .308.
On Survival difficulty, chems are your best friend. Buffout is really useful for getting an immediate boost of health when you're in a bad situation, and alcohols enable you to carry slightly more junk when you're just a tad encumbered. When going into a rough fight, it's pretty easy to get completely wasted by whatever legendary or boss mob shows up.
As a largely stealth player, the chinese ghost armor was awesome. Sadly the chameleon armor pieces affect the pipboy functionality so I stopped using those too. Stealth boys are only good when the enemies use it.
Aron Estabillo Even worse, you can’t see your iron sights when aiming!
Never use them, complete waste. "stealth" and "Chameleon" tech in Fallout is very untrustworthy. Like this afternoon, I'm full level Sneak attack and I have three Chameleon legendary armour items, and all my clothes are shadowed. My rifle is silenced and I'm shooting at the raiders in Parson's creamery from about 300 yards, squatted down and hidden from inside a bush. I line up a head shot on my "Deadeye legendary .50 sniper" pull the trigger and the guy moves, like they always do, like they fucking KNOW.
And instantly he and his partner know exactly where I am and start laying down fire on me! That's bollocks that is!
I will admit, Stealth in every single Bethesda published game is complete shit (except Dishonored, that had pretty good stealth).
Honestly I found in Fallout 4 what happens is they usually detect my Companion, because Companions decide to just stand up and say "I"M HERE!!!" anytime you're even in Caution. And sometimes enemies will accidentally fire at me, trying to hit my companion while I'm crouched with my silent weapon and all. But I notice as my companion roams... no one is actually shooting at me and I'm not in "Danger". So sometimes that seeming hail of fire is just because your companion doesn't know the difference between "They're on alert" and "Completely disregard stealth".
Best use of a stealthboy... GO!
Mine is pickpocketing Lancer-Captain Kells' spiffy hat.
Stealing everything from proctor teagens cage :3
On a level you normally wouldnt find x-01 or gauss rifles obviously .. :D
There's actually a really easy way to steal from his cage just carry it all and drop it to the bottom of the ship then hide and steal lol. You can teleport in and out by going to attack with melee and canceling the attack (quicksave first to practice)
Mine is always "I have understated my opponents time to get a sneak amplifier" pop some calmex if I have it and change the tide of the battle. His hat is super worth it. Also sneaking in to covenant at night to finish that quest really fast by lockpicking and pickpocking everyone in a few brief moments.
I knew you could do that but the stealth boy doesnt really have a use and ts more fun that way (in my opinion) :3
pickpocketing and lockpicking.
I miss the Nightkin.
I use them to sell that seems to be all they are good for.
Agree. I get that the stealth perks and the S.P.E.C.I.A.L Agility has an effect, but what's the point in using a stealth boy if you're spec'd stealth anyway? I think it should have a larger effect on those who choose to go somewhere in-between Heavy and Stealth; like an assault class. That way you're not giving heavies a chance to go stealth whenever they want and the assault can only do stealth while having stealth boys.
Or maybe I haven't used stealth boys enough, but in my own experience the baddies still hear me while I'm mile away. I've even tried un-equipping all my armor, which would be laughably ridiculous if you did that irl.
Yeah, they should be more specd to help out non-stealth characters who rely more on equipment than perks so you can use them situationally. Like make you stealthy on a sliding scale.
i think the biggest thing is they don't affect your sound level when sneaking, so even if people cant locate you they still go on alert.
- icefoxvi -
We should be on the team that tests the game in early stages and give feedback.
We'd make a great game, man.
CounterNerd they don't last long enough to sneak up on anything, and you are right they do nothing to help stealth. Butt naked the enemy can still hear you coming, in fact I sometimes think it makes you easier to find.
In FO3 the stealth boy worked the way you would assume it should, to disguise you when you sneak. Unless you were running in full armor they worked. Ten years in the future and they are virtually worthless.
Maybe they're running out of power after sitting out in the Wasteland for 200 years?
I have a box in my settlements dedicated to stealth boy dumping.
I find them all the time and never use them, I think I have over 60 now. I should really get to selling them.
Surprized you didn't mention/compare the Railroad Stealthboy or the Chameleon armor pieces.
why are you surprised he didnt mention them? this video is titled stealth boys and oxhorn is the definition and pinnacle of viewhore. he wont even explore a secret floor hatch in a building he is doing a video on just because another building has a quest involving the hatch wich is super viewhore level, there is just no reason not to go into every aspect possible about what you are exploring and the real reason he dont is so he can make another video for it and get views on two videos instead of one and not short the length of the second video that legit wouldnt have enough to it to matter on its own
There are power armor mods that allow for stealth field generation. I don't know if they are effective or not.
If you have all the magazines and perks it works well. So you have to be a high enough level and traveled or cheated enough lol. I've been in close range undetected. It works differently than a stealth boy kinda but I like it. Only downside is the same as all power armor usage that you use up fusion cores. Good to use armor that adds a bonus to agility as well.
Live Love Play I have one on my normal armor but it only works for 3 seconds
For settlements you can stand in the path of attackers and lie in wait with your companion. When they come close get a sneak hit and use up AP then hit chems.
Not even worth mentioning considering the slot they take up. Stealth boy built in or Jet Pack? Exactly.
It's fucking power armor what's an extra 5 sneak gonna do when you can fall from 4 feet and there's a loud ass "STOMP" where you land
Oxhorn, have you ever consider finding SSG Michael Daly? The one who recorded the hopotape on the roof of Museum of Freedom?
In it he mentioned "I'm heading to Boston, on foot, to see if my sister survived all this. She's got an apartment on Boylston Street."
I'm curious about whether he made it or not (or what's left of him?)
Billy Yip id love to try looking for him but as he records that the day the bombs fell (at least thats the impression i got) i doubt hes still alive

The Chinese Stealth Suit was so OP in Fallout 3 it totally broke the game, could just kneel by a enemy and hack him to death with melee weapon and he and none of his friends would figure out what was happening. Never really messed with stealth since in a Bethesda game.
u can almost do that in skyrim with high sneak ability
Sleepy .Time In Skyrim, with sneak skill maxed out, its not even rare to crouch in the middle of a swordfight and the enemy to basically forget that you exist
in fallout 3 with the xlchinese stealth suit, high sneak, in broad daylight i melee killed a bunch of raiders that were doing a gang beat in initiation on some re ruit lol broad daylight and they couldnt find me even walking against me lol i didnt even use a stealth boy
The stealth boy is not common because it's stealthy

The Stealth Boys in Fallout 4 might be an beta version of the Stealth Boy. That is why they are rectangular and not as effective.
I love the creation club Chinese stealth suit. It doesn't add any physical attributes, but it does give a constant stealth field. You can't mod it at armor workbenches or wear armor over it. But it is fun when you've maxed sneak out.
You forgot Dog/God from Fallout:NV Dead money DLC
Amir Granderson b-but its my favorite
+Amir Granderson dead money was unique and fun and better than nuke world.
Amir Granderson ;-;
wow aggo much mr walicki? tf is wrong with you its just someones opinion
Dead money’s downfall in my opinion is that it had a lack of reloading benches in the Villa. That screws guns repair based builds by making handloader unable to be used. While energy weapons can use the workbenches.
Day has started. The stealth boy is something I have used but feel that in fallout 4 they just put it in because it was in the other ones. FO3 I used it alot while wondering around the mall area and it was fun just slowly strolling by the super mutants. In FO4 I collect them and sell them to me that's all they are good for. Getting caps.
gizmoandback I hoard them and store them in a huge collection, I like how they look and selling them seems like a waste for how rare they are.
I remember the stealth boys saved my life in the repconn test site when dealing with nightknin, in fact looting their stealth boys and rebar club and using them works surprisingly well
Hei Gui (black ghost) is pronounced "Hey Goo-Ae". With a downward intonation on Goo and an upward intonation on Ae.
So 'Hay-Gway?'
Well, that's one translation... it can also be 'Black Suit' or 'Black Ghost', depending who you ask.
Talonis Um...no. That's the only translation, and I guarantee you. When I first saw that I thought twas a bad joke or Bethesda just didn't bother to get a Chinese editor for this part of story.
@@side-beeetaloniswolfwolfac4179 it's Black Ghost. I'm ethnically Chinese and Mandarin is my second language.

the stealth boy is useless in fallout 4
Useless!

@@rokkfel4999
Yeah but even when using Deacon's perk _and_ the special Railroad stealthboys they are still pretty bad. 40s + 40% = 56 seconds. That means they still last less than half as long as the normal ones did in the other games, even without perks. And even with that added bonus they still have the problem of not working very well in terms of keeping you hidden. So yeah. They are basically useless unless you use mods that make them better.
Except if you use mod to make it last long, recommend of 1 or 5 minutes
You didn't discuss the Stealth Field for Power Armor, the Railroad SB's, or the affect of Deacon's perk on them.
He doesn't have to. Theres nothing special about them outside of the fact that they exist.
he could have mentioned the stealth suits in hover dam in vegas.
jordan rivard
No he doesn't. He's already talked about stealth suits in general. There is nothing special about them outside of the fact that they exist.
yean and he said they don''t exist
I think a better way to describe the fallout 4 stealth boys would be to say a rectangular device stored in a military style canvis case
I used a Stealth Boy today. To sneak my way through Boston Commons, without being noticed by Swan, or the other Mutants & Raiders out there. Worked like a charm.
I just crouched
Pixelated Potato I normally do, too. But sometimes, the enemies in that area can be a bit sharp-eyed. So, to avoid _them_, I used the Stealth Boy. That way, they won't shoot at me, and I won't have to shoot back, and risk waking Swan up.
Shawnee Longbow it's actually really easy to sneak past Swan
I don't think I've ever been in a playthrough where I didn't just kill Swan immediately upon arriving at Swan's Pond. Last time, I used a 1 Endurance character and an upgraded pipe rifle. It's not hard to kite and trap Swan's AI. What's hard is getting enough .38 ammo to take him down.
I used kellog's revolver to kill him in 3 hits, soo...
The Stealth Boys (to me, anyway) feel like they're broken. I mean, they kinda worked for me, but only if I'm actually hiding in a dark corner and using it then (it gets enemies off my back). With the few bugs that it has (such as being "permanently invisible" despite the stealth effect ending), it's almost always a risky move playing with it.
Scary thing for me the first time I played fallout new Vegas my characters name was Leo so jacobstown was weird for me
If you have a stealth build with sneak perk rank 4 and high agility the stealth boys are very useful. With this build the enemies won't notice you even if you're right beside them. In fact, the Railroad Stealth Boys last 10 seconds longer. If you have the cloack & dagger perk the stealth boys will last 20 seconds more. It is pretty useful to sneak out dangerous situations is you have a stealth build.
Oh nooz you missed some things lol jk. Stealth boy relies on muffed leg armor and for it to be light weight especially early on it's true but in real life that's how it'd work (even metal gear solid acknowledges the footstep sound). Also, Railroad stealth boys last longer, which I'm 90 percent sure the Carrington prototype is. Plus, Deacon's perk makes them last longer.Getting all the covert magazines will also help and maxing out stealth perk obviously. Also high agility can't forget that one. One other thing to add kinda but not really for another video is food. Gulper slurry makes you invisible for 10 seconds. You really could even do a whole video about invisibility because each is kinda different I've noticed. You have legendary effects that happen then you get hit and you have power armor that has a stealth field when you crouch down (again have all mags and stealth perks to be useful).
And don't forget to be patient; "Sneaking" is like take 2 or 3 steps and then
maybe a "Caution" sign...wait till they dismiss it as too much jet LMAO
Rinse repeat, if done right, you can sneak right up behind them. It can take awhile but is well worth the wait imo.
Hey Oxhorn do more settlement builds and then do lore about them (you can make it up)
5:38 the shoes- the suit that makes you run faster and jump higher
although the marine wet suit armor in Far Harbor and that looks pretty much identical to the Chinese stealth suits
I love lore videos that do crossovers. I don't have much experience with the other games but it's still pretty cool, and full of information. Looking forward to more in the future :D
You actually seem like a really nice guy. Surprising tbh. Most people that spend a lot of time online are worn down. Cold, bitter, detached. Refreshing to come to your channel. It's good to hear someone with a positive attitude to the world and other people. I spend a lot of time on political channels and such. They can be a shit show. Keep up the good work, and great videos bud. I always enjoy coming to watch your material.
The Stealth boys in 4 really felt like a bit of an after thought.
Was hoping that they'd have addictive properties or something in 4 but alas.
At least we have mods
The reason you don’t get Schizophrenia is because you HAVE it!
From what I have seen the regular stealth boy doesn't cover up smell or the sound of you breathing however the helmet and fabric of the stealth armor is designed to take those factors out of play, it was my ace in the hole going against the Overboss in Nuka World as well as making it through the gauntlet, although since I never use power armor I do t k ow if it extends out to the power armor
Hey Oxhorn! Love the videos everyday, AND the lore! I was just gonna suggest a lore friendly mod idea, really any mod that lets you build a workshop anywhere, so you can build buildings and defenses and such. I suggest building workshops at "Defend the Checkpoint" areas, because I found that playing on a good play through (on the rare ending, where everyone except the institute lives) that having minutemen at my checkpoints means they die faster than I can run there, and that bothers me. So I recently plopped down a workshop on a checkpoint near Pickman Gallery, threw up some heavy turrets, and also some couches and slot machines which they instantly enjoyed lol and I really do recommend this as it doesn't really affect gameplay, and its lore friendly. ALSO, sidenote, I suggest a hermit living settlement at the Mass Fusion Executive Suite ;) Father is not Shaun...
I feel pip boys were massively bugged in 4 as a lot of times i seemed more stealthy without them. Using one for some reason feels like the opposite effect instead of making you invisible, it broadcasted your location to every enemy on the mal
The FO4 version definitely sucks compared to the other games' Stealth Boys, but at least it has a neat, functional-looking model.
Kinda wish we could get our hands on a stealth suit in the base game, even if there was next to no Chinese presence in the game. It could have been on the Yangtze, even. That would be the most reasonable location for it.
Thats actually where the mod mentioned places the suit ^^
For the PS4 there is a creation club stealth suit, but sadly it costs 300 credits.
I find it becomes more useful for an assassin build, using the stealth boy to get near a group of enemies, then the Blitz perk to get a good number in one VATS round.
ModernWhoFan5B I read that as "to get a good number one"
I mean yeah it's good for that and that really is its only combat purpose. But for me they're kinda like the Fatman without the fun explosions. Too rare to waste on most enemies (plus unless I'm roleplaying there're much easier and faster methods), so you end up just collecting them for no reason.
Is it worth not worrying too many Stealth suits... and just use Sneak?
Since Fallout 3 I have always kept a Stealth Boy on me if I needed it, but never used them more than a handful of times. Some of those times was just because I need some Carrying Cap. I usually just sell them.
Doesn't the Railroad Stealthboy last 1 minute? I don't really mess with Stealthboys all that much so I'm not sure but I know there better. I believe Deacon's affinity perk also improves stealthboys by like 20%.
Well that's a bummer, though stealth boys aren't really all that useful to begin with in Fallout 4. Draw distance is naturally so much better by the time you get shot at while sneaking you've already killed 2/3's of whatever your engaging.
Couple of things: First off, IIRC, It's not that night kin are different supermutants, it's that exposure to the stealth field turns them blue and makes them paranoid about people seeing them, essentially making them 'addicted' to stealth boys. Again, IIRC Dr. Kline says that something about being a super-mutant makes them vulnerable to stealth boy technology. He theorizes that it might also happen to humans but over a much longer period of time.
Also, from a canon perspective, the chameleon legendary enchant could be people trying to reverse-engineer Hui Gui suits after the war. Just a thought.
hey ox...I would love to hear about what capanen would you take in real life
I found 1 good use for the stealth boy. Whenever I do the Commonwealth Blues quest (or whatever its called) While I'm negotiating with Paul over who gets what, I walk away from the conversation, pop a stealth boy, steal all the chems from the chests, then I negotiate with him, accept the 50/50 deal, and walk away with everything.
stealth fields are very useful for remaining hidden, as they seem to confuse even enemies who don't have line of sight to you (the chameleon armor effect comes to mind, was amazing in my sniper playthrough), but if you're being obnoxious, of course you'll be spotted
Haven't seen anyone mention the Railroad stealth boy, I never used one of those so I don't know if theyre any different or not
The stealth boy in Fallout 4, The model was based off of an old Brittish Geiger Counter from the early 1950`s
In the hover dam in one of the back rooms there is a fallout 3 stealth suit
yes but that ones doesn't give the stealth field the same way the suit in fallout 3 did, a chame really, as that was my "stealth boy" on fallout 3 :P
I think there was a terminal about it saying it got busted. Either by the rads in the room or by sabotage.
You can find the Hei Guy suit in Hoover Dam. The Stealth Suit is available in Creation Club, but I used all my free points for the Doom Super Shotgun (Handmade Shotgun). I make my Hei Guy suits in Fallout 4 using Assault Marine wetsuit and tactical helmet with a mod that allows me to craft legendary items.
I'm in the sell them for caps crowd.
The best way to be fully invisible in Fallout 4 is a full set of armor with the chameleon effect combined with perks you can just sit (crouch for stealth) in front of an enemy and shoot them in the face without them finding you .
Use it to pickpocket Preston garvey
Dark Thanatos he probably has a map in his pockets with every settlement that needs your help.
ive never had those issues with stealth boys.
combined with jet and the stacking critical hits they can really kick ass
NOT "the full story" you didn't mention those from Fallout 1+2
EvilJ069 just fallout 1, they didnt appear in 2
Danplaysunturned one appears in an easter egg but it doesnt work im pretty sure.
The Fallout 4 Stealth Boys seem to be based on WWII era field phones. The leather pouches and the top of the stealth boy match up pretty close to what the first couple of versions of the field phone looked like.
"FEV virus" is redundant, buddy.
Now excuse me while I go visit the ATM machine. I need to buy another hot water heater.

Stealth Suit Mk II has another usage, keeping you the Courier company without needing companions as it has a voice, it is great moral support.
uhh if you put hei gui in Google translate chinese to English it translates to nigga, i guess it mean black suit?
and in Japanese it translates to economy

Did he forget about the suit you can get at the institute? It turns you invisible when you crouch, but only if you stand still, doesnt work if you’re moving.
Thats right stealth boy in FO4 is terrible, it is heavy and and pointless. Hai Gui actually means sea turtle in Chinese and yes you butchered the pronounciation.
Guoenyi *Hei gui meaning Black Ghost
Im pretty sure that someone else already brought this up, but there are Hei-gui suits in Fallout NV's Vanilla. The only issue with New Vegas' Chinese Stealth Suits is the lack of a stealth field projecting around the crouched user.
For anyone curious as to where it is, it's inside Hoover Dam, in one of the storage rooms. I cant list it off the top of my mind, as to the exact room they're in, but I do recall finding a pair of CS suits in a white, wooden crate.

Nyet, komrade. To the Gulag with you!
The Chinese stealth suit is one if the best items in FO3 especially for melee characters
i just hoard my stealth boys and sell em when i need the caps also i absolutely love lily it has to be my favorite companions in all the games really because of how silly the character is and how anymore i just refer to lily as grandma when someone is watching me play
Stealth boys in Fallout 4, are more for the military based on their new look, these were made for scouts people who knew how to sneak and could utilize them when they needed an edge. If you're going to use them like I saw you using them then they won't work. 30 seconds to sneak through a crowded room was generous.
I love your videos. They’re so relaxing, and you cover basically everything about a topic.
Hub City Auto, my second favourite source of loot. And I don't mind enemies using stealth boys Halo's Elites with active camo and energy swords have trained me well lo
The one thing I found out is that the chameleon effect with the stealth boy helps alot; used it for the HalluciGen, Inc.
I’ve noticed using the chameleon legendary effect seems to work more effectively when sneaking.
You can acquire Chinese Stealth Armor in New Vegas unmodded. It's found in a room in Hoover Dam. However, it has no stealth effect, and just gives a sneak increase instead.
looks almost like a 40's military field telephone in Fallout 4.
I used the power armor stealth upgrade you can craft. It gives you a stealth field when crouching. I use it for sniping enemies.
If you do want a stealth item like the stealth suit, use a legendary armory peice with the effect Chameleon. It works like the stealth suit and activates while you crouch. Only things diffrent is it doesn’t give better mobility but only needs to be in one spot not the whole body.
Even though the stealth boy doesn't really give any advantage, you still shouldn't be surprised when the enemy notices you when you just kinda crawl about directly in front of them
This is a complete non sequitur comment, but some videos ago in your Egret Tours bit, you were complaining about that stuck door that you can reposition but can't get to work. I imagine you have worked this out, but if you have a scrap mod installed and you scrap the garbage piled up in front of the door, and then you have a place anywhere mod, you can place a barn or warehouse door wall in the building wall, put a door in the doorway and then remove the placed wall, and voila, you get a functional door. You can even place that exact door from the warehouse set. It's how I put doors in the doorways in Sanctuary. Just a thought. Great stuff, as always Ox!
Hei Gui suit is available in Creation club AKA Mods that don't disable Achievements. So pretty much yes there is a Hei Gui suit in Fallout 4 without mods
i think it could be useful for a survival build. if you don't have many sneak based perks, it could be good to use if you're maybe a sniper but you're a little too close and afraid that you might get caught.
honestly i rearly use them as often as i should, like a lot of things i use it when is either weight burden or emergency
There is a Chinese Stealth suit in New Vegas. It's in one of the tunnel storage rooms at Hoover dam. I forget where exactly, but it's one of the larger room, to the left in a crate. It has bonuses, but no stealth field.
Chameleon legendary effect makes you invisible when crouching and holding still
Bethesda should update stealth boys and only allow the user to enter caution mode while invisible, because the enemy knows you're there, but not where you are exactly (unless barging right into them, where you enter danger mode for a limited time).
I use the Mark II Synth Chest Piece. Gives stealth field when you crouch. And I have leg pieces that give +20% speed total and arms that give +4 luck total
Dont forget about the invisibility armor/chameleon armor pieces in fo4 that give infinite invisibility when crouched.
Me personally, I’ve always saved stealth boy’s for later use instead of selling them. In FO4 you can’t really use them to clear entire buildings like in FO3 or NV, but they work wonders whenever you want to avoid a death claw on a Very Hard-Survival play through. Or if you’re playing a sniper character, you can use the stealth boy to move to new cover after popping off a couple heads
Stealth Boys work really well in the dark,my best use is clearing Hardware Town completely undetected.
I personally use the Stealth Boy with my Power Suit Armor Torso; it activates only when i crouch and stay stationary, and slowly saps my action points, however i've found it quite useful when attacking enemy headquarters in Fallout 4, and sniping enemies up close with my suppressed 10mm. I rate it fairly well, but that's just me.
@4:45 "Look like small disks..." its supposed to resemble a watch-face. It goes on your wrist like a wrist watch. It has to do with the early planning for Fallout 1 and was originally going to be time travel related, before they cut out the dinosaurs.
@6:17 "chinese stealth suit is Fallout cannon because it was the inspiration for the stealth boy which is in every Fallout game". There were no stealth boys in Fallout 2.
The stealth-boys in fallout 4 seem to actually be based off gas mask containers that would be held over the shoulder on the hip using a arm-strap
The only time I ever used a stealth boy is to place a grenade in the pocket of raider grieving over a grave
