the fun thing to do with youtube is view different artists performing the same song - each one has their idolators - and detractors - Kiri's remains my favorite voice for this languid intensely romantic song - the conductor & orchestra (Jeffrey Tate & English Chamber Orchestra) & the recording studio deserve much credit too
@@vanmij4926 - the sound engineering on the Davrath is different - it's like the mic were close to her mouth - we can hear every syllable - it's a very nice rendition - Kiri's sounds like she's somewhere off in the mountains
@@johneyon5257 That's the way it should be! The muted "distanced" parts are the response from across the mountain valley to the call from this side, the pastoral form.
Fabulous performance, but prefer those that do not feature the piano part so prominently, which I find so annoying and intrusive and not at all in the aesthetic of the piece. (God, I'm a blowhard..)
Diese Musik ist Balsam für die Seele! Wunderschön.
I Love Kiri Te Kanawa.

@@jamesdennis8290 - i suspect that was the concept behind Kiri's rendition - and i like it for that reason
Madame quelle belle interprétation
L émotion passe par votre voix
I really enjoy her singing especially for this song. She is the best.

No the piano makes it so much more beautiful
@@iimrbluesky2238 It can overwhelm as it does here.
@@LazlosPlane I disagree it adds so much to the atmosphere of the song
@@iimrbluesky2238 I didn't say to remove it altogether.
