I grew up in a home where we dressed out our meats and canned everything we could. I presently live in an apartment with a majority of older residents. They always look at me like I am crazy for all the canning I do (don’t butcher, obviously, but can meat when it goes on sale). I just smile knowing I won’t go hungry if hard times hit and will have something to share with others who might also have need. God IS good, always!
Love the long videos and two of them a week would be even better. I love how you explain each step and allow us to watch the process. Thank you for sharing your life story with us. God is Always Good
We understand Ruth Ann that you have a family and you're very busy and very active in keeping things running so once a week if they're long that's okay❤
You are appreciated so much for your loving knowledge & instructions, I'll watch whenever you post ,but I can say ,I wish it was every day .. of course I definitely know that it isn't possible! Love you, blessings 🙌
Good morning Ruth Ann! Often times as I watch your videos I am thinking of how blessed the children are. Today I am thinking of how blessed you and Alvin are to have such wonderful children in your lives! I am also so, so grateful that you share your blessings with us!! ❤Patsy......I just have to add how wonderful it must be for your daughter to see the love and excitement her siblings have to see her baby!! ❤❤❤
Good morning RuthAnn, I love the fact that not only do you show your success but also the failures. We all make mistakes and you show people it’s ok. Give yourself grace as Jesus gives us. Your grandson is getting so big. What a joy! Blessed life ❤
Your kids interact so well and especially with their new little nephew. It shows they were raised right. I like the longer videos with all the steps and information you give. And that you leave in little mistakes like boiling the whey over. It shows just how real and down to earth you are.
I am very new to your channel and have fell in love with your family values and of course what I learning in the kitchen. I’m not a homesteader but I am one at heart. I’m a California native and at time I wish I had been born and raised with daily farm life. Thank you Ruth Ann for showing me another way of doing things.
I just love your messes - makes me feel better that I’m not the only one! ❤ Thank you on behalf of all of us women out there who never grew up with all this knowledge. Thank you for teaching us how to create and carry on meaningful daily traditions. ❤❤❤
I'd love it if you did a video about the different breeds of dairy cows and each of their pros and cons.🐄🙏 You are such a great teacher, and so relatable and easily understood.
I often get asked how we have the time for everything. Thank you for showing how a lot can get done in the pockets of time throughout the day when you're just waiting for time to pass for the next step!
Agreed. There's a woman on here who gets asked that question often. One day, she brought it up and, in a shrill voice, exclaimed, "I get up earlier!" She then laughed like it was the most ridiculous question ever asked. "Getting up earlier" is a disingenuous and condescending answer. We all get 24 hours. The real, honest answer as to how so much gets accomplished is excellent time management skills. Some people are born with a natural gift for it and others need more help. Edit: I will say, however, that getting up early/earlier helps, too. But it's more about management of time than time itself.
😂😂😂😂messy cook! I just cleaned my stove top because i walked away for "just a couple of minutes". Nice video! I felt the cold air hit my lungs once again after being in grandparents wood stove heated house as you walked outside on a crisp November morning to do morning chores...those memories remain in my cells! Love the info and will make curds soon. THANK YOU!
Hehehe, we all know that clean stovetops, and mopped floors make certain that spills will happen. Having had 6 children, boy don't I know it! Cleaning up as we go is the key.
Nothing taste as good as fresh cheese curds!!!! I grow up on a Grade A Dairy Farm back in the 70’s & early 80’s. Thanks for keeping the old ways alive!
Ruthann, This is such an easy recipe, that actually works. We have diary goats not cows but this worked perfectly and who doesn't like "Squeaky" cheese? (We call curds squeaky cheese) TY once again for a great recipe!
Thank you Ruth Ann; I love farm life. Even as a child, I wanted to be a farmer's wife. I married an engineer instead. I love watching you teach us about the " old ways" of your mother and grandmother. My children are all grown and I have grandchildren; I am a retired teacher and have time now to try some of the old ways. It's fun and rewarding. I didn't write this on your previous video, but I want you to know that sending your children to the nearby outstanding school is the right thing to do. It's important for children to learn from other children, to have the responsibility of turning in homework, to participation in school activities. You are fortunate and I'm glad that you are taking advantage of this rare opportunity.
Good morning Ruth Ann, As always I have enjoyed your video from start to finish. Your calm instructional demeanor is so pleasant to observe. I have never been one to wish to go back to my younger days but I do find myself wishing your videos had been available to me when I had so many friends and family that would have loved to try your recipes with me. I live in an Active Senior community now so maybe I can try out an idea or two as the holidays approach. Since the gardening season is winding down I hope to learn more of your Kitchen Wisdom. Blessings to you and yours.
Good morning RuthAnn and sweet family! I so enjoy seeing the children helping with the animals and the daily chores on the farm. It really takes me back to my childhood that I so loved. Your cheese curds look amazing. Thank you for sharing your recipe with us. I hope you and the family have a very blessed weekend!
If you get a chance, could you elaborate on what you did to clean that cooked on spill from that glass stovetop? I bought that paste they sell and it does very little. Looked almost like you "deglazed" it with hot water the way you would a pan! @@Ruthannzimm
Growing up we lived near a cheese factory. They made the whey available for the local farmers. My dad would regularly fill several barrels with whey to feed our pigs.
I cant say thank you enough for your kitchen tutorials. You make tasks fun and break them down to be much easier. Thank you for sharing your skills with everyone. GOD bless
The best way to clean your glass top stove is to spray it with oven cleaner overnight and in the morning most of the dirt will wash off . Sweet little boy .He is growing so fast.He doesn’t get much attention from everyone!!!!
Thank you for sharing your cheese recipes. Yesterday, I made farmhouse Cheddar cheese. I had leftover cheese that didn't fit. It made cheese crumble and seasoned them with parsley, onion, and dill. Oh, so tasty. Today, I am making cheese curds to share with my son and family. ❤😊
Oh Ruth Ann, u give me hope! I am not the only one! I felt that familiar feeling when u turned and showed that overboiled pot. But ur a true inspiration in conquering a problem soon as it arises.
What a blessing to be able to do this. Thanks for sharing this with us RuthAnn. That’s why I love your channel because you don’t leave out anything you could’ve left that mess on the stove out. But we all make mistakes sometimes we’re in a hurry not that you were. God bless you and your family.❤️
One of the highlights of my Saturday morning is watching your video. I certainly wouldn’t mind two each week, but I know your time is limited. I learn so much from you. Thanks for sharing.
You never cease to amaze me Ruthann Thank you for showing us how to can , make cheese , garden etc. I’m learning a lot. And by the way your jarred bake bean are sooo delicious!!! We love them. Thanks !
Those cheese curds look so good! I will say that as a Wisconsinite, we mostly eat them fresh here but do enjoy fried cheese curds on occasion. Love those fresh squeaky curds 😊
I think you are amazing. I love the way you teach and explain why things are done a certain way or the history of things. You are amazingly patient and such a hard worker. I appreciate the time you take for the videos you put out. If you have time for a second one every week, I'm sure everyone would love seeing them. Thank you for sharing your life.

Good morning Ruthanne I just love your morning video with the kids in the barn. Well all your videos actually are very good. Wonderful start to my Saturdays. Thank you. ❤
Hey good seeing y'all today I love your videos and recipes it reminds me of when I was growing up. You have a beautiful family and I know you're proud of them. You and Eldon is doing a great job ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When I was young we went to West Virginia to my grandparents farm up on a mountain. Daddy would help with haying and chopping wood for theme my favorite part was going with grandma to a little building where she had a large milk separator my sister and I would help turn the wheel and watch the milk filling up the buckets!! I hated the smell but I loved being with her!! We would go down into the cellar to help carry jars of canned veggies and some fruit!! I love your videos with the kittens!!
Ruthann, I wish I had room for cows! You and your family make cow tending such a joy. I'm so glad you showed 2 things in this video, #1, the importance of opening windows (over your sink) for fresh air in the home, I'm sure it was very warm in the kitchen too😊 and #2, that yes, please use a blade to scrape the glass cook top! I see so many ppl who don't know that you can use a blade on glass and enamel.
RuthAnn, I thoroughly enjoy watching your Saturday morning weekly videos while drinking my coffee. Messes always happens even with the best of cook's. Winston is getting so big, time seems to fly by with grandbabies cause my granddaughter is getting ready to turn 5yrs old very soon and it seems like only last week that she was Winston's size😢 God is Good and may He continue to Bless the Zimmerman Family.🙏🏼🫂❤️😇
I love how you spend time with and give one-on-one attention to each of your children. What a blessing to create memories and moments that will last them a life time.
Thank you so much for this video! This is my first year as a milkmaid and it's been an adventure to learn how to use the bounty! This was such an incredible tutorial, and so very helpful, and I cannot wait to try them both - I actually paused the video and ordered rennet! Also the longer format is great!
Thanks for sharing those recipes. They look delicious! Your grandson is adorable! Love seeing all his aunts and uncles entertaining and cuddling him. Precious! Val C ❤🙏🏻
Your morning chores looked so peaceful! I can see it’s hard work, but you and the kids make it look so seamless. I learned a lot from this video. I really appreciate that you didn’t edit out the whey overspill-it’s a real moment, and it’s totally fine. You cleaned it up and kept it moving! 😊 As for the length, it’s perfect for me. Before I know it, I’m saying, “Wait, it’s over already?!” Continued success and blessings to you and your family!
I will be using your line in the future…”I clean up 100% of my messes, so it is ok.” 😂😂😂 So do I. Some days are messier than others. Many thanks for explaining what you can add to make the cheese if you do not have access to raw milk. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I appreciate it so much!!
I love the long videos. I feel like you showed us how to make the cheese and answered all the follow-up questions. Like, what can I do with the whey? Do you have a cheese curd recipe? I thought it was perfect and very well experienced. Thank you so much for teaching us! God bless you for all of your days!💖💖💖
Thank you so much, RuthAnn. I love you sharing both your expansive knowledge and your family. Sharing your precious family can be very vulnerable. I so appreciate you. Thank you.
Thank you for including your "oopsies" with the pot boiling over on the stove. I watched your video right after I poured a glass of iced tea and knocked the entire cup over onto the floor. It was a mess that demanded immediate cleanup and mopping of the floor! I thoroughly enjoy learning from you and would contentedly watch as many videos as you post! I learn so much from you and your family. God bless each of you.
I just love watching your instructional videos. You inspire me and so many others to try so many new things in the kitchen. Thank you for sharing you, your family, and your faith.
You & your family are amazing! I love watching your channel. I'm a city girl & have only made jellies. Everything you do is a learning tool for me. You have a wonderful family & I can see their kindness in their behavior. Thank you! 😊
So interesting!! I have made mozzarella from your video and recipe and was fascinated by how this was the same then different!! You are a natural teacher and have so much to share that makes it all make sense. Thank you for the time you give to share here! We look forward to Saturdays and each new video!! Long or short, all of your videos are wonderful!!
I laughed as all your boys hovered around the fried cheese curds. And i enjoyed watching the tough teenage years really enjoy time with their Mom in the kitchen. 😊
Thank you! Loved these recipes & loved that you kept steal showing spillover. Very encouraging to see even experienced cheese makers make a mess. Distraction gets me every time!
Love your videos. I truly respect how much time goes into all your preparation of food for your family. We all learn so much from your videos. Thank you again ❤
I will never make my own cheese, I’m in France, after all. 😊 But I do appreciate posts like these. They are so educational. Thank you! Cousins on my husband’s side have a small goat cheese production in the Poitou area. Every time we visit, we say hello to the goats. They are very curious creatures and so interested in the new human coming to see them. Love it!
I could watch a video of yours every day! Thank you for the hard work in making this video for us to watch. I have learned so much from you. 🤍 from Australia 🇦🇺
I don’t have land so obviously no animals in fact out HOA states no gardens and no more than two pets per household. So, even though I can’t really follow along I watch every single episode. I love your way of life and if I had it to do over again I would definitely purely do things differently. However, I have begun to can tomato’s and grow some herbs and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I love the way these foods taste. I’ve made pesto from my basil and my family didn’t even know what pesto was prior to this summer. I’ve started to make sourdough bread and my own yeast rolls, eliminating the need for store bought bread. So, just because you don’t go all in doesn’t mean you can’t make a dent. And who knows it might inspire my grown children to do the same. Thank you so much for all your inspiration, sharing your family and doing it all with such a great disposition. I will always watch ❤️
What a beautiful way of life and family! I grew up in small town WV, raising gardens and canning, so I know how to do that much, and I'm thankful for that, but watching you and your family makes me wish that I had known so much more then!! I so very much enjoy your videos and your knowledge!! ❤
Hi Ruthanne... You have really outdone yourself with these cheese making videos... So much fantastic information! And your snack trat for the kids! I have gone online and already ordered everyhing. I need to make cheese curds! Im so excited to try this.
I really love your videos, Ruth Ann! I have a huge curiosity and so I get mentally involved in many things even though I won't ever need or use them. I will never make cheese curds because I'm allergic to the protein in milk, but it's fun to watch. It relaxes me and quiets my mind.
Thank you Ruthann. You inspire me so much, really looking forward to your videos, only have 1 milking goat now and haven't had the courage to start with hard cheese yet. God bless your beautiful family from 🇬🇧🙏🙏
I've made hard cheeses and several different fresh, but never curds. This will be a fun one to try because I definitely have my eye on the caramel sauce. I'm pretty sure I need that in my life. 😁 Thanks for another excellent lesson, Ms. R!
I know you said you missed teaching, but just consider…you’re now teaching thousands and doing an excellent job of it!❤❤❤
I came here for the apple sauce and the beets and then stayed for the garden, animals, kids, kitchen fun, piano practice, wind chimes, and plain old common sense!

Love the way you teach with demos and hands on learning. Your children are so lucky!
Thank you Ruth Ann for sharing this recipe and a wonderful part of your family life. God is good. I bless you.
I just love watching your instructional videos. You inspire me and so many others to try so many new things in the kitchen. Thank you for sharing you, your family, and your faith.
I love learning from you; thanks for the real time instructions! They’re not too long & I love seeing your family & animals! God bless you all🤗🇨🇦
Cheese curds look delicious. You have such a wealth of knowledge about so many things. More valuable than any gold. ❤
Good morning, I just love watching and learning from all your videos. Watching your family hang out together is also a real treat. God Bless you all
This is totally off topic but want to share … I just completed chemo and growing hair
I’ve got curls and love your fun doo😊
🥰🥰🥰
Yay for completing your chemo! I’m sure you’re relieved that’s over. May you stay cancer free.
You & your family are amazing! I love watching your channel. I'm a city girl & have only made jellies. Everything you do is a learning tool for me. You have a wonderful family & I can see their kindness in their behavior. Thank you! 😊
I love your channel and
Two videos a week would be great!
Blessings 🥰
Do you miss teaching? …you’re now teaching thousands and doing an excellent job!❤❤❤
I've got to try this one! Thank you for 3 good recipes this week. 2 videos a week sounds good to me
I laughed as all your boys hovered around the fried cheese curds. And i enjoyed watching the tough teenage years really enjoy time with their Mom in the kitchen. 😊
😍😍😍
Thank you! Loved these recipes & loved that you kept steal showing spillover. Very encouraging to see even experienced cheese makers make a mess. Distraction gets me every time!
Amazing to see you go through the process. You’re an amazing home person, with a lot of energy.😊
So good to spend time with you today Ruth Ann. Glad to see that your family is baby crazy like ours is.
Love your videos. I truly respect how much time goes into all your preparation of food for your family. We all learn so much from your videos. Thank you again ❤
I so look forward to sharing your wonderful, rigorous life and have learned so much from you and your family! Thanks Ruth Ann! Keep up the great work❤
I will never make my own cheese, I’m in France, after all.
Such a sweet family.
I love it when you make long videos. I learn so much from you.
God bless your beautiful family from 🇬🇧🙏🙏
Thank you, Ruth. I have tried to learn cheesemaking. You make it so simple and love how you teach.
Loved this video! Start to finish with an extra recipe to use up the extra cheese curds…thank you!! Can’t wait to try this.
Hello Ruthann so happy to see you again. I’m always so interested in everything you and your family do. God Bless you and your beautiful family
So glad you finally have an area for your milk! You deserve the space!
I've made hard cheeses and several different fresh, but never curds. This will be a fun one to try because I definitely have my eye on the caramel sauce. I'm pretty sure I need that in my life. 😁 Thanks for another excellent lesson, Ms. R!
Love your new building and more convenient station for your milking supplies. Will be great in cold winter weather.
A deeper sink has got to be easier to wash everything.
If new cheesemakers want an aged cheese that doesn't take 6 months to age, try colby. 4-6 weeks age time!
