Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

You are right though, that bass line is so sick. It's just fucking crazy how awesome of a bassist John Paul Jones is and what a compliment to the pounding beat of John Bonham as this piece moves ominously along to its powerful climax. I was in my room one night, probably 15 years ago, trying to sleep. I was suddenly awoken to the bass opening of this song. I went downstairs and there’s my dad, sitting at the dimly lit kitchen table, his amp and bass guitar plugged in playing along to Dazed and Confused. Nope. The Beatles put out the best catalogue of rock ever. And they did it all in 7 1/2 years. Zeppelin lost it after 'Physical Graffiti' and the great Earls Court shows in '75. 'Presence' and 'In Through the Out Door' were sub-par, and on the final 1977 US tour, Page was so wacked on heroin that he often played out-of-tune on many nights.

@@emanueldesousaecastro Robert plant always said that he hated that comparison, said that he couldn't remember instruments zeppelin used in heavy metal such as acoustic guitar, mandolins etc, opinion of his was heavy metal shows looked like a big punch and judy show with men running around the stage wearing tights !, not going to disagree with him.

I'm sorry Mr. Moose, but this sounds like an aural horror movie, especially when that multiplied main riff kicks in and Plant sounds like his scrotum is being pierced with a pitchfork. It was also their most self-indulgent number live, with Page screeching away for a half-hour on his guitar with a violin bow. Weakest track on an otherwise damn good debut album.

Been dazed and confused for so long it's not true
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you
Lots of people talk and few of them know
Soul of a woman was created below, yeah
You hurt and abuse tellin' all of your lies
Run 'round sweet baby, Lord how they hypnotize
Sweet little baby I don't know where you've been
Gonna love you baby, here I come again
Every day I work so hard
Bringin' home my hard earned pay
Try to love you baby, but you push me away
    Don't know where you're goin'
Only know just where you've been
Sweet little baby, I want you again
    Ah, ah, ah, ah
    Ah, ah, ah
    Ahh, ahh
    Ahh, ah
    (Ahh)
    Oh, yeah, alright, alright
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
    Ah, ah, ah, ah
Oh don't leave me so confused, no
    Oh, baby
Been dazed and confused for so long, it's not true
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you
Take it easy baby, let them say what they will
Tongue wag so much when I sent you the bill
    Oh, yeah, alright
    Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
    Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
