Safe & Sound always felt like a song from Katniss to Primrose, whereas Eyes Open was more of Katniss’s internal dialogue. Katniss had to be on high alert for her entire life, and everything she ever did was to keep her little sister safe… and sound.

I quite literally SOBBED to the point of having a headache over Safe & Sound. I cannot get over how improved it is; both musically and Taylor’s vocals. It sounds incredible.
Speak Now TV is terrifying for me because it’s my “heart” album and I’m a tad afraid the passion of the original won’t be there.
Also, if all of the girls would have been put on Lover, it absolutely would have been one of my favorites. It’s SO good and I’m so glad she let us have it.

Getting to experience the release of these songs/albums TWICE. Is such a special, once-in-lifetime experience. No other artist has ever done something comparable. I’m so proud of her for reclaiming all her art. And we’re all so lucky to get to receive it all over again 😊😊

Weirdly, Safe and Sound was a comfort song when it came out. When I couldn’t sleep over being upset (was going through the ending of a really toxic mentally abusive relationship) I would listen to it and repeat to myself “just close your eyes, you’ll be alright, no one can hurt you now. You and I will be safe and sound” and it would honestly relax me.

All Of the Girls fits the theme of Lover so well! Exploring the different elements of love from a different perspective (as you mentioned in the voice over!)
Also it would have deepened the connection between the Lover and Red albums. Red as the perspective of going through love and heartbreak and trying to understand these feelings and Lover as the perspective of understanding the complicated and multifaceted concept of love from a matured perspective ex. "loving him was red" in Red to "I once believed love would be burning red, but it's golden" in Daylight, and "loving him was like driving a new Maserati down a dead end street" from Red again and "every dead end street, lead you straight to me" in All of the Girls!!😊

All of the Girls made me cry, and I definitely found a new love for Eyes Open which I haven't listened to in ages 😭
I have much too much to say... so bear with me!!
She announced these songs and released them as I was driving to Arizona for OPENING NIGHT (ahhHHhhHHH!!!) and I am genuinely shocked I didn't crash my car into a ditch. They are such a random bunch but they are genuinely four of my favourite songs she has ever shared with us. I have STANNED Eyes Open (and always yelled at Bonny and Emily for not LOL) and Safe & Sound. I never expected those to be redone but WOW what a moment. I literally always think about the fencing too with "on guard!" lolol. There is something sooooooo magical about the roundness/fullness/clarity of these re-recordings. We are way beyond blessed. Also... I am a child of divorce and I literally miss The Civil Wars every damn day even though it's been 12 years. I love them all for coming together on this grammy winning song yet again.
ITWAM.... I died dead. This is absolutely one of my stan songs and she sounds soooooooooo good. BUT... you are so right, this is aLWAYS going to be Speak Now for US. I thought it was for sure a sign that we were going to be getting Speak Now TV announced {I reside on Clownelia Street}. Omg the paradox of the 2 songs. I think Eyes open represents the trauma and war shock. If you've been in this situation, this is also how you'd see the world. Always having one eye open. And then safe and sound is kind of like a lullaby. To help you cope and it comforts you not to lose yourself through all the tragedy and horror 🥲

I love the idea of Eyes Open also being inspired by NEEDTOBREATHE. During the Speak Now Era she was touring with them, and one of their latest songs at the time was called "Keep Your Eyes Open". It also has soft rock influences which could be a nod to their music.
If This Was A Movie holds a special place rn.. the day before Taylor's Version was released, me and my best friend had a small kind of argument and I did not know how to make it up to her, and neither did she, but this song came out on the next day (and it turned into the best day-) and the vocals and the instrumentation and literally the lyrics helped us. I know it's going to sound dumb and lame but the chorus of If This Was A Movie made me cry the first time because I was going through all that but then i sent my friend the song and it helped us make up for everything! Yep

I've been binging your videos all afternoon. I am too a Speak Now girlie but very close second is Lover 100%. I freaked out a couple months back when these were released!
Safe & Sound has always been one of my faves so hearing TV was amazing! But I also did love Eyes Open. I just loved that although sad, S&S was so good to me because I felt as it really captured Katniss and Prim's story and relationship, and this is coming from a THG stan for over a decade 😅
So of course I adored the TV of Safe & Sound and Eyes Open. But as a Lover girlie as well, I definitely had All of the Girls on repeat haha

These are some of my thoughts about the songs:
-The mixing in Safe & Sound sounds crispier that I actually recognized there were male harmonies in the second half or by the end of the song. Also, I have always liked this (sad) song hehe.
-Eyes open has a significantly different style from the usual Taylor imo and also, it has a very clear influence from the 2000s or 2010s so, that's probably why it's not so loved by many... In my case, I think I have to be in a certain mood to fully enjoy it.
-If this was a movie absolutely belongs in Speak Now, I like to think she decided to put it in the fearless era for now to avoid giving any clues about the artwork for TV and also, so it could be streamed in the chapter she created for Spotify.
-I wasn't really aware about the existence of All the girls you loved before hehe... but I loved it, the lyrics have that hint of maturity from a 25+ y/o and the music gave me a little sexy or sensual vibe 💗. Also, it's probably a coincidence but I like that she released it this month when we commemorate women.

I am OBSESSED w all tue girls you loved before!!!!!! The melody is absolutely transfixing and it has highhhhhhhh replay value holy shit. Not to mention it’s just a beautiful concept for a song in general. Goddamn!! It’s immediately made it’s way to my fav Taylor songs. Wow.
