I have a couple of these ranch ropes and absolutely love them. I had BB cut one and make it a calf rope length and tie a new honda in place. I gave it to me farrier a young calf roper. He loves it and gets a lot of attention from the colors of the rope( brightly twisted colors) great people to talk to and deal with at this store
I understand why ropes you have on display are used for various purposes with cattle. What type of rope material would be best when, say, roping a colt in the round pen?
I am looking for a new rope. The only thing I rope are horses, or critters in trouble in an emergency. I still have and use the rope Ray Hunt gave me in 1984 with a metal honda. the wax cotton rope is fantastic that's what I got and its heavy enough to throw but flexible enough to be comfortable the ranch rope is long I think about100' but they cut mine in half and put a honda on the cut end so as to get 2 calf style ropes colors to select from are very eye pleasing
Learning to rope - what do you recommend? I bought a nylon rope a few years ago, but its not really long enough, and feels too stiff. I'm looking at the waxed cotton rope - but can't figure out which thickness, or which honda? Thanks in advance.
Dam been ropeing for since I was 10 yrs old I used same type of rope for everything 3/8 grass rope 60 foot kept in a moist burlap bag to keep stiff and it would soften as I used it I am 54 now still use same type of rope order them from mexico This guy just mind fucked this good

Which honda do you think it's best for ranch roping in a poly 3 or 4 strand rope, metal or tied, back here in Arg we use bigs metal rings
Rawhide hondas are great but a tied hondo with leather aren't always that great. So a speed burner or rawhide would be my choice
All my stiff ropes piss me off when it comes time to do the job I make my own soft rope lassos
What would you recommend for a 65yo beginner with iffy shoulders.
Maybe a nylon because there light but also hard to throw far. But if you add coils to your loop youll be able to throw farther
