I grew up in Bethlehem in the 60s and 70s. My friends and brothers and i spent many glorious days playing at the canal and towpath. An indelible part of my youth. Thanks for evoking some great memories.
When I was in grade school in Allentown we sang this Erie Canal song altered for the Lehigh Canal: … We haul'd some barges in our day Filled with lumber, coal, and hay We know every inch of the way From Albany to Buffalo (From old Maunch Chunk to Easton Town) … Low bridge, everybody down Low bridge, yeah we're coming to a town And you'll always know your neighbor And you'll always know your pal If ya ever navigated on the Erie C (Lehigh Canal)
