- The Dualsense Edge controller is REALLY NOT worth it!!! Here is why, and a comparison to the regular PS5 Controllers! They're so many ways this controller could have been a worth while investment but it ends up just being a let down. Where are the macro's?
I apologize for the crazy audio! It did not sound like that in Adobe. I will be looking into that issue so that the next video will have better audio!
Worth it 100% for three features alone, rear triggers for remapping I mainly use as L3 and R3. Shortcut feature for headset volume with out going into the menu in my case that the headset doesn't have volume adjustment on it. Finally, trigger stops are a great feature to have for faster action on L2 and R2.
Complaints about edge controller, battery life but the PS5 dualsense edge is just as trash mainly because the controller is doing so much behind the scenes. Sticks are replaceable, but they are sold out and have been sold out since basically the controller came out. The normal PS5 controller I have 4 of and all of them have some type of issue, the one I got with it originally just randomly clicks. So far, have not had any issues with my PS5 edge controller though after close to a years use.
It definitely isn't a controller for everyone but it is a pro option for those that aren't concerned with the cost.
Unfortunately there is not a perfect controller available for PS5 first or third party, but I use my Edge at home and Normal at work with PS Remote play and I for sure miss the extras when I don't have them.
Thank you for your thoughts on it! I appreciate the alternate view! If cost isn't a problem I guess I can see where it does have its benefits. I have not found it necessary to use the remapping and shortcut feature much myself, but I do see where that can be beneficial. I hate that the back of mine wore out so quickly. That isn't an issue with the regular PS5 controllers, since they don't have the same material on the back. I have had a PS5 controller have stick drift already, and of course it isn't so easily fixed. 😬🙄
@@Firehawk4mula yeah I should clarify, I find value in it personally and not everyone will. It is by no means a perfect controller and is costly for not being perfect for sure.
All though I have not needed to address changing the sticks on it personally, from my understanding the replacement sticks are never in stock and are being scalped for outlandish prices which makes the main reason people do purchase the remote to be null and void.
L3 and R3 on rear buttons though for me for sure is a huge plus as I play mainly single player and it's much nicer to trigger run from the button vs holding down the thumbstick imo.
My favorite headset I have atm is the Alienware wireless pro that just came out and for whatever reason the volume adjustment on the headset does not function for PS5 which in itself is a huge problem that Dell should really address. The edge controller though you can press the button under the thumbstick and up or down on the d-pad will let you adjust volume with out going to the system menu. If the edge didn't do that, there's no way I would keep my current headset and would just go back to my Pulse elite. So basically two imperfect products come together nicely in my situation to make a good overall experience, granted at a cost that is more than it probably is worth.
I don't mind spending a bit of extra money on some luxury items though if it makes the overall experience more enjoyable. Of course, it all comes down to ones own budget.
Great review. You've got huge potential - gotta get a good mic so we can hear you better!
Thank you! I am not sure what happened with the audio. 🤔 It did not sound like that in adobe. I will definitely be looking into that problem though!
@@Firehawk4mula Maybe the wrong audio track got exported? Anyway, keep up the good work!
Thank you for sharing your experiences. Will be canceling my 30 anniversary dualsense edge. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!☺
I found a guy on ebay that puts hall effect analogs in ps5 controllers and he callibrates , and tests them before shipping them back. These analogs are magnetic, not friction sensors like the cheap ones that come in the ps5 controller. He charges like $30.
I thought the walkie talkie sounding mic was on purpose lol. It was actually cool.
First impression when you buy it is nice, but soon it feels bulky nonetheless to say that in my experience after 2 months from the day I bought it I'm experiencing stick drift and I can't find any of the stick modules for sale here in the UK. Is that just another scam?
Decent vid, but a mic would be great
The only thing I don’t like is that it’s last 5 hours and it degrades over time with out vibrations it last 10-12 like the normal controller with out vibrations that’s why ps gave us a 9 foot cable and it’s so good I do worry of a rumor that Sony is making few of the replacement tips and going out of stock to force you to buy a normal controller it would be awful but genius
I disagree. It's definitely worth it if only for the swappable joystick modules if or when you do get stick drift instead of having to buy a new controller or having someone having to purchase and replace the potentiometer in the standard which is a tedious exercise.
The only wear and tear is with the "rubber" inner grip which as you said begins to peel off. You could simply peel that off and continue using the controller no problem, which is what I did or buy a replacement bottom shell if you wish. All in all the Edge is far superior to the standard controller.
While I agree that is some ways the edge is better than the standard controller, I still find it's not worth it at this price. A premium $200 controller should not be showing such heavy wear after the little that I used mine. The joysticks being swappable is a neat party trick but they have more often than not been out of stock. From a collecting stand point I can see these joystick modules following much the same path as the Wii U gamepad Extended batteries. Replacement modules will eventually develop the same drift and I don't see Sony making replacements in 10 years.
@@Firehawk4mula True the out of stock situation is beyond ridiculous. It's beyond unimaginable that the developer would have a situation where they haven't supplied stock for well over a year now for outlets to have in stock. I had to end up paying USD$40-50 (plus shipping and taxes) from one of the scalpers on Amazon. Only afterwards I saw some were being sold on Ebay at original price.
So yeah, that is a pity. But other than that, once you can get the module being able to very easily replace the module is well worth it.
I never even went next gen (PS5) theres still nothing on it...
I had to get one! I couldn't stand how The Last of Us part II played on ps4 pro. I didn't finish playing it until I got the ps5 to play it at 60fps. Also Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. I realize they are on pc now but at the time the only way to play them was on ps5. I have also really enjoyed my time with PSVR2, mostly playing RE4RVR. Sony has a lot of single player games that I want to enjoy, add to that the last 3-4 years, I have been semi addicted to getting Platinum trophies in some of my favorite games. I could go on and on.
@Firehawk4mula I have heard the 60fps makes a massive difference, I've just been holding back abit haha .. hate how Microsoft own Bethesda now, fallout is literally my favourite game series, I hope it releases on ps5 the next one and next elder scrolls. I'll end up getting one soon, I'm kinda real keen to play that new dragon ball sparking game. Me and mates always played Budikai tenkaiachi 2 and 3 on the PS2 haha. I still need to finish horizon zero dawn on PS4 hahah, I'm still behind with so many last gen games.
@@LiamWhit Sparking zero is amazing! Microsoft now owns a lot of my favorite franchises. Crash, Spyro, Fallout, Doom and Tony Hawk's pro skater. The 1+2 remake was soooo good! I was hoping they would make a 3+4 remake as well. I will admit though I haven't owned an Xbox since the 360. The exclusives just are not there. Not to mention what little is there I could just play on PC same day as it releases on Xbox. Xbox has a lot of awesome franchises now but not one real console seller. I hope they can better utilize those IP's moving forward but that is yet to be seen. That is why I haven't gotten one. For me it's all about the games. I'll buy any console as long as it has the games I want to play on there. As a side note I really enjoyed the Fallout show on prime and I'm hoping they do a good job with the mass effect show as well.
@Firehawk4mula I agree with all of that 💯, I still have a 360 slim, I'll still play it for skate 3 (new custom parks from RUclipsrs). Crash and spyro are the best , childhood right there. I only just played crash twinsanity for the first time, it's actually really good, loved the humour. Doom is incredible, i recently played that quake 2 remaster.
The fallout show was so so good, keen as for season 2!
I have mass effect sitting around for 360, I've still never played it, keen to though. Only just playing borderlands for first time haha
@@LiamWhit Mass Effect is my all time favorite franchise. I love those games so much! You have to give them a try. I literally could not tell you how many time I've played through those games beginning to end. I once spent like 6 months just replaying them all over and over with different choices and doing different challenges in the game just for fun.
❤❤❤❤
Dude your name is so fricking cool 😄😁
Thanks!
Alright female pyrocynical…
“445” your cooked bro police already otw
Edit audio outside of software and export in mono before adding to clips. It might help...
Thanks! I will try that next time!
This thing would b so good if it was just $50 cheaper but yk Sony greedy so
@theonlyshortsalot I would agree. At this price point I just don't think it has enough value. I wish the programmable back buttons had more features like macro's instead of just single button remapping. Maybe they will come out with a version 2 with improved materials and features.
@@Firehawk4mula yeah but version 2 will be $700 😭🙏
It's the best thing ever. I love my controller.
