HI RUST WRANGLER,, WOW!! MY SON MAX AND I ARE GLAD YOUR DOING THIS VIDEO ON THIS LITTLE PONY .. THE MILES 624377 NOT BAD FOR A 1966...MY FATHER HAD A 1965 MUSTANG BLUE,,, NEW HE BOUGHT IN MASS. YEARS LATER IT SEEMS LIKE THE MUSTANGS ALWAYS RUST OUT ON THE FRONT FENDERS HIS DID LATER IN THE SNOW AND SALT,.. WHEN I WAS IN MY 20S IN THE 1980S I BOUGHT A WHITE 1965 MUSTANG WITH RED SEATS BUT PONY SEATS,, WORTH MORE.. GREAT CAR 6 CYLINDER NO POWER STERING.. MAYBE NEW PLUGS AND THE WIRES IT WILL RUN BETTER ,,.. GOOD DRIVE .. THANKS ,,PEACE!!!
Thank you! Yea the interior was perfect, if someone snags this car up for a project, they may just have to do a little bit of metal work in a couple small areas, and that’s it.
Bench seat noted. Not rare, but uncommon. Interesting extinguisher placement. Good for when everything is cool, but a hot engine would make it a hot potato. (I know your didnt put it there.) The original manual will tell about cold starts - have to push the accelerator to the floor (set the choke), then hold the pedal half way down while cranking (< it says something like that, don't quote me.)
That little 289 sounds like you've got a vacuum leak somewhere. I've had a bunch of them. I have a 68 Mustang right now that I'm working on right now with a 351 Windsor bored and stroked out to a 414.
Nice! Sounds like you’re building a monster! As far as the vacuum leak sound on this car when I first got it going, that did seem to get better as it warmed up.
I just bought one in the same kind of shape and m doing a will it run currently. Did everything you have done to it. Mine was last tagged in Cowlitz County in 1986. My radiator is in better shape than yours but not by much. What did you do to replace or repair it?
@@73amx63 awesome! As far as the radiator, if I can remember correctly, I just told my uncle about it so he could decide what he wanted to do. He wasn’t sure if he was going to keep the car yet.
Good chance the mustang moter is all gummed up inside from that penzoil I seen in the trunk won't oil made I been a mechanic 55 years and every car I worked on that used penzoil they would be all gummed up inside
If he used penzoil that moter will look awful when you was under it it looked like the coner of the bellowing was busted like it bottomed out hard probably happened when the pan got dented
My wife had a 81 before her 99 ,she’s going on 40 yrs in 2- Mustangs 🎉🎉School Teacher of the year
Right on, that’s awesome!

What a cool preserved car! Great video! I love your channel and how you go into detail!
Thank you! I appreciate that.
Great effort. Save this icon and let the classic as old style and original as possible. Great and rare color by the way.

It has a carb gas filter too

Haha, I agree, if there was an engine fire, it would be pretty tough to put out with the extinguisher in the engine bay.

Looks like the guy didn't use penzoil all the time that's a good thing
Make sure torque converter bolts are tight too
Yea, I did check those thinking maybe the clunking was due to a torque converter bolt but they were good!
Yes my gals is 35th anniversary
Did you check the oil
Yes I did
Good chance the mustang moter is all gummed up inside from that penzoil I seen in the trunk won't oil made I been a mechanic 55 years and every car I worked on that used penzoil they would be all gummed up inside
Good to know. Note to self- don’t use penzoil. Haha

Yea, surprisingly this motor was pretty clean inside.
Put an oil guage on it
Hold the gas down
