I’m a Sinner fan but I really enjoyed watching Shelton’matches in this tournament. I honestly don’t understand the hate around this player, he has a great attitude and a lot of energy on the pitch. He also gives one of the best analyses in the post-match interviews.
Keep up the good work Ben, from now on you have a new italian supporter (when you don’t play against Sinner of course)

I think he made a few enemies a while back because he was really arrogant. He's mellowed a lot - he's no longer the same person.

Yeah he definitely made some mistakes in the past but sometimes we forget how young these athletes are and it’s not easy to remain so humble as Sinner when you start having success. Now he is 22 and it seems he has become more mature.
It’s a pity that a lot of people still judge him for that.

    • @cecilbarth7080

Maturity beyond his years. Love how he is quick to diffuse drama with his responses. He looks so sad in this interview though - hopefully over the coming days he will realise how well he played and recognise the areas that need improvement. Top 10 before year end

sad, i don't know I would say that. I mean, anyone who loses isn't happy, but he was very realistic about his game and how things unfolded today. There's no sadness there.

Hoping to see this guy a lot in finals this year. Respectful but bare bones honest...joyful AND competitive...my new favorite? Hard to replace Rafa for me, but between Carlos and Ben I've found MY joy in being a tennis spectator again.
Nice interview. These reporters should give a master class to those folks from Channel 9. Coverage should enhance, not demean, what the players give us.

    • @LouiseAus10
      @LouiseAus10 9 часов назад

Channel 9 has some brilliant commentators and some average ones, like all of the international tennis broadcasters. The on-court mini-interviews are meant to be playful and congratulatory, whilst the major interviews are behind closed doors without the crowds and give the players the chance to talk in-depth.

This match was way closer than the final result suggests. I think Sinner didn’t play his best tennis today and Ben was very close to put things in his favour in many parts of the game. Small details make a huge amount of difference in tennis. There is nobody better than Sinner at game management at the moment. His ability to be strategic and calm in the toughest moments is unbelievable. This allows him to get out of trouble even when he is not at his best.

I hope Ben reads this message, he not only can become top 5 in the world as he can make history. From a racket player to another this was an obvious mental choke at 6-5 which he needs to know how to overcome. This is a very typical mental process when the under-dog plays a top seed at this time in the match. The top seed does not panic over the possibility of loosing his set because he knows how strong his game is, on the other hand Ben is asking himself a million questions and "doubt" overload takes over focus ! He just needs to overcome this issue so he's game comes out fluid no matter how much nerves are taking over. Be positive, don't overthink it, just play it out dude. You have the technical ability of a champion !!

Guys, as italian I admit that Ben played a fantastic match, expecially the 1st and the 3rd set, the matter is that at one point Jannik moved his brain to Buddah/Dalai-Lama modality, that was incredible, you could barely watch him leavening from the court. The capability of Sinner to control the stress and start to shot points like a machine in critical situations is out from any logic.

Good job Ben ... maybe next time. I only saw the highlights but my impression was that both of them were not playing their best tennis in the first set. Then Jannik raised a bit his and Ben didn't. The gap is still there as of now. Great final Sunday

Sinner wasn't really at his best, and still brought the annihilation in the second and third sets.

At this point the only weakness Jannik has is endurance. If you are somehow able to push him into the 4th/5th rounds, he begins to show signs of fatigue and makes mistakes. But of course, no body has taken him to the fifth set this AO.

Are the press conference questions so poor or is it how it appears to me? Many are simply generic, almost off-topic stuff... Is nobody really interested why in the 3rd, he couldn't neutralize an opponent that was clearly suffering physically? Instead of trying to stay in the rallies and make Sinner work for the points, Shelton was making one unforced error after the other, throws airballs instead of hitting winners.

His TB was bad. He was going for too much and making so many errors. I thought his net game was terrific. But he made a lot of errors going big. You have to go big to beat Sinner but missed a lot of shots. I love this kid and his time is coming.
