This is a new pen for me too. I got mine about a week ago with a medium nib and really love it. I am loving the pull off cap and push on posting for ease of use. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Karyna 😊
I have the burgundy E95S as well, with a medium nib, and it is an absolute joy to write with. I have taken to refilling a Pilot ink cartridge with a blunt syringe for it, because it holds a tiny bit more ink and allows me to see if I have ink left. Thanks for the video! Congrats to Michelle!
Thank you! Yes, I fill a Pilot cartridge with a syringe as well but the Con-40 works well enough when I want to switch inks quickly. That is one thing going for it!
I love the E95s, it writes so smoothly especially on better quality paper. The 743 is also a great pen, I wish I’d been aware of it before buying the second 823 in smoke. The red, burgundy, color on both of these pens make a nice change of pace.
I got this one for its looks and great reviews. I can’t complain, but it hasn’t been the constant companion I imagined it would be when I bought it. It’s still one of my favorite designs of all time. Edit: when I started fountain pen collecting I judged people who left stickers on their pens. Now, God has served me justice by turning me into one. It’s such a fast reference to keep nib sizes and pen models straight that I rejoice when I see a sticker. Pilot pens have such limited color ways that it’s especially desirable, and I regret peeling the sticker off my e-95-s lol. It’s one more sign you’re a hardcore pen fanatic, in case you are tracking the symptoms!
I LOVE this little pen - ive been improving my writing so my headers and text in my planner is nice to look at....I have always had good pen-personship but this one seems to have improved it further....love it
I really like the Pilot E95s. It is my first gold nib pen and I have it inked with Brunch Date. I love how smooth it writes. I am so glad you got it. Congratulations Michelle on winning. I hope you enjoy your mystery inks. Very exciting.
I didn't think I'd like, but once I got my hands on it a few months ago it totally changed my mind. It's such a beautiful pen and even the F nib has worked out amazing for me. The lack of dedicated grip section doesn't bother me on the E95s as much as it does on the Pilot VP, go figure !
I'm in the same boat you were in. I've wanted to get one for years now, but something else has always come along and taken my paycheck away lol maybe someday soon I'll finally pull the trigger. Your review has brought back the urge to get one haha!
@@tafsirahmedkhan8080 I do not have a video comparing these but a quick Google search found this video from Goulet Pens ruclips.net/video/5Ba8V_rW4Os/видео.htmlsi=QMkd0oo7coNaRgy_
I got mine a few weeks ago, and it has been a constant companion at work ever since. Its understated elegance is to certain more expensive pens as the simple black sheath and choker of pearls is to the gaudy creations of the Oscars red carpet. ... I should hope American retailers would throw in a CON-40! My offshore Elite only came with a cartridge; but I had a converter lying about for the first inking. Since we're all hobbyists here, I'll say that a friend gave me in about 1999 a Namiki vanishing point from the late 1980s which had a squeeze converter, so I never used the cartridges he gave me with it. They were watertight, but evidently not airtight. Evaporation does gradually happen. I am using a syringe to make a full cartridge as I use my Elite, to be able to see the ink level. I'll clean and reuse the cartridges, since they hold so much more ink that I can see when they are in my pen. ... Lovely review! Thank you!
What a great point you make - in this pen's case, less is more. The pen is all about understated elegance. And how cool to get a VP from the 80s! Although the squeeze converters are a turn off for me.
@@KarynaLovesToPlan oh, yes. How the bladder bulges between the lever and the housing! Icky even writing that. . . . We are indeed of one mind about elegance.
I just got this pen yesterday with a medium nib but I haven't had time to ink it up yet. I hope I don't regret getting the medium instead of the fine. It's a beautiful, classy pen!
I have this pen on my wish list. I tried both a EF, F and a M in a store (what luck!). I usually go with Pilot F nibs but I actually loved the writing experience with the M. It was a surprise. So when I get it, it will be a Medium! I hope you enjoy it!
This was my first gold nib fountain pen! I love that even tho I already have it, I love watching others talk about it too 😂. I find mine to be very soft and smooth, so that is very interesting when you mentioned comparing to the Vanishing Point. I do have a VP but haven’t inked or tested it 🙈 so I’ll be intrigued to see how mine compares.
I think my opinion has really depended on what I got first. My first gold nib was the Pilot Decimo so that really shaped how I felt about all gold nibs afterwards. But I do love this and find it less stiff than the Pilot Custom 743. You need to ink up that VP! 😂
@@KarynaLovesToPlan oh yeah that makes sense. I find the sailor and platinum gold nibs to be so stiff, but maybe because I started with the pilot! I’ve been eying the pilot custom 823 or 743 for a while now. 👀 You and Simone are huge influences 😁. I’ve had the VP for an embarrassingly long time just in its box… I will open it soon 💗
I got the same pen this weekend! I got the black and gold in Fine! It’s my first gold nib pen and I am in love! I saw a different version on Amazon that was cheaper but after going down a rabbit hole I realize that this “E” one is the more premium. I love it.
This pen is on my list to get next! I want to get a medium after having the opportunity to try the different nibs when visiting New York. I live in Montreal. I usually lean towards a fine nib but was surprised how the medium felt in my hand and the writing experience! But the medium in the burgundy colour was out of stock! I hope to get it this summer at the latest. So watching your video makes me get excited!
@KarynaLovesToPlan You should! Pilot's extra fine gold nibs are beautiful. Japanese nibs are just great, period. I always use a wetter ink in my e95s and it writes so well!
Congratulations Michelle!!! 🎉🎊🎉 Love that Pilot E95! I’ve got a vintage one and it’s the first F nib I’ve ever really loved to write with. Thank you for this video!
@@KarynaLovesToPlan your welcome! The vintage one is not that different than the new version. The one I have doesn’t have the nib exposed. However, it’s the same nib.
@@phi1688 hi! I’m not sure if it’s a true Japanese F that writes like a western EF nib. However, I do have a current faber castell grip with a F nib and this vintage pilot with the f nib is finer than the faber castell. So I’m supposing that my vintage pilot is a true Japanese F nib. And I really enjoy it!
