TRACTOR loader and Box blade CUTTING EDGE for plowing SNOW

- Simple DIY front loader and box blade edge for plowing snow. This is an inexpensive option to reduce wear on the tractor's attachments and concrete. I put the loader in 'float' when pushing snow.
The composite board was purchased from Home Depot (12ft length) and was cut to fit the width of the loader. I used 3/8' bolts to attach the composite board to the loader. The loader has predrilled holes that will accept larger bolts, but I just used 3/8 bolts because that's what I had lying around.
I used a three inch ABS pipe for the bucket, cut a slot with a jigsaw and pry it onto the cutting edge.
After a while when you see that its getting wore out you can flip it over.
Stupid simple solutions earn my respect. Thumbs up sir!
Thanks!
Nice job
Looks like cheap decking planks may be a good option to keep your cost low for the box blade when pushing snow. Thanks for posting and sharing -All the best and God Bless. 🙏❤🇺🇸
I'm going to try this on my rear blade.
I’ve used this exact setup twice now and the wear on the siding is minimal and excellent results while plowing. I have about 150’ of concrete driveway plus at least that much of asphalt street I clear for the neighborhood. I expect the first blade to last at least all winter (reversing it each use) and I still have the other half of the original siding board (48” bucket). Great idea!
Still using the original edge, haven’t needed to even reverse it yet. I like it when these simple solutions work so well. That being said, I’m using a rear 3pt wood max snowblower now, which does work even better for my drive.
Great idea 👍👍
Brilliant
Thanks!
I just ordered a uhmw strip for my rear plow. 4” x 61”. Just over $200 shipped.
UHMW is great for snow plowing! I'd definitely choose that over this cheap decking material if the cost was equal.
At first I asked myself why you added these things to your loader and grader. Then I saw you have a paved driveway! 😂
Just got done plowing my driveway with the tractor. But, I’m on gravel. 😢
Yep, it's more to protect my driveway than to protect the loader. Second year now and still have this same plastic blade on it. I thought it'd be ground down by now.
@@thelifeofriley7668, Does it work on gravel?
3/4” thick.
How long did the decking and PVC last?
It actually lasted through the winter no problem. I have a 3 point blower for this year and I’ll make a video on that later. I don’t think the loader/box blade setup was ideal. It just made piles and I end up running out of space to push snow.
Thanks for the quick reply. I was looking at putting the pvc on my back blade. I have a front snow blower with a steel edge that I think needs some attention. I just got a new driveway this fall. @@thelifeofriley7668
Spray the pvc with WD40.
I use a 3-pt snowblower now. I do spray the blower chute with WD-40, which does work. Snow shoots noticeably further after the WD-40.
maybe an option when my $200 blade wears out
Hopefully that won’t be for a while!
