“We got about five minutes what are you gonna do?” “I’m gonna go bear Super Mario Bros. What about you?” “I’m gonna get all platinum medals on Wii sports golfing training.”
What points did you choose for time start/end exactly? I think the RTA world record must be about 34 minutes done at the end of Murasaki's all sports platinum run. Crazy how much faster this is by comparisson, and how most of the time save comes by just getting everything first try, lol. Nice stuff as always, tendog. Big fan.
I corresponded the timing with RTA timing, so run starts when "Start" is pressed on the training mission, and ends on the first frame that the platinum medal appears (it actually fades in very gradually, so it was hard to find what should be considered the last frame). I don't think there are IL categories for each sports' training missions but I imagine that Murasaki could still save a lot of time in his golf split! And thanks, as well!
The great thing about a tas like this is that not as much can be done to really rig it. Just extra tries and precise positioning. Which means that he’d be a god either way
Because you don't need all 1000 points to get the Platinum medal. I believe it's 800 that you need. So, it's faster to miss by hitting into the water than to get more points.
If you mean for a TAS of all sports training platinum, I don't think it would matter which order you did them, unless you were trying to manipulate RNG
So this was definitely a later version, possibly 1.01 or 1.02, and I can tell that because there is a wiimote cover on the wiimote on the opening screen. But I wasn't aware of anything camera differences for flag hits between versions. Sometimes you will hit a shot and the flag is already in clear view, so you don't get a camera change. But in the case of that shot the game decided to give another angle, and often with flag hits from a distance that's what you'll get because the game wants you to see the action.
It also varies for different shots, you might be on the same version as this TAS, but just hitting the flag from locations that have different flag behavior
I actually found a new technique just a couple weeks after finishing this that might have made two 75s + eight 100s worth it, but at the time I wasn't able to hit the 75s fast enough. Still, the putts were really fast so it might not have made more than a ~0.75s difference. It was pretty close either way.
Using the putter to miss the shot is faster than hitting the bullseye, and the platinum medal will only need a certain number of points. Presumably the wind conditions on those shots are the slowest, so it’s a time save to miss quickly with the putter and make up the points in the last shots to still get the platinum score
It's a TAS(Tool Assisted Speedrun) which means that people use tools like rewinding the game or going frame by frame to get the theoretically perfect speed run. Nothing is done by accident
Amazing! It’s so satisfying watching the ball hit the flag every time in the chip training!

What’s with this “double eagle” bull crap? Everyone knows it’s called an Albatross! Come on Nintendo
They fixed it for Wii sports resort
The Corellian Connection It was also called a Double eagle on Everybody’s golf 2 Portable (Hot shots Golf open tee 2)
it is called albatross in the pal version kf wii sports/resort but called double eagle (eww) in NTSC
@Pimp Juice A REALLY big bird(ie)
Should ‘double eagle’ be hole in one on par 5? That would be better than ‘Albatross’.
Ten once again shows his unparalleled mastery at golf. Even the likes of guest b and Matt are impressed by his precision and skill.

Platinum requirement is only 800 points. As this is a tas time is most important so he misses the balls to save time
