Aside from the 5 things you mentioned, my main issues were: 1. Lack of interesting routes. Most were very straightforward and when you spend lots of time in the wild area, it makes the routes look incredibly dull in comparison. 2. The cities were gorgeous but were also just fancy set pieces because you couldn't actually DO anything in them. Why have a cozy hot spring or a Ferris wheel or a big restaurant and then restrict us from interacting with them? 3. That ugly bike gear we HAD to wear. I spent 200k on fancy clothes, let me wear them on my bike.
The situation with the routes is because the game was originally in development for 3ds. The Wild Area was created when the developers knew they were transitioning to the switch. For example, the new areas are going to have the same mechanics that the wild area does; however, the routes we currently have are more similar to ultra sun and moon.
I agree with 2, especially. You can’t do anything in Spikemuth except go to the Pokémon center, talk to Team Yell members, and battle Piers and Marnie.
My worst problem with the game? Everyone treats me like I'm five years old. *Hop congratulates me when I use a supereffective move. *A guy escorts me to a hotel about 100 meters over. *Everyone constantly stops me to tell me where I must go and encourage me to go straight there. Just let me play without the babying, dammit!
There was that in Sun and Moon with Hau and the Professor, they often told you where to go and it was a bit annoying but in the end; I wasn't mad! The characters wanted to help mine without being too intruding and didn't treated him like a baby; they gives useful advices like the Pokecenter and how to catch a pokemon...even though I already know how to do it because of Soulsilver, White 2 and Saphire Alpha. At least Hau wasn't impressed every time my Starter used a super effective move, he find it cool then was determinate to defeat me in the futur. It wasn't annoying, I find it cute :) I like his perseverance and affection towards my trainer, he's a fun guy! In the new games Hop seems way more cheerful and too happy, also he's almost everywhere the trainer goes which is irritating. Oh and the other has less personality than Blue, yay U-U He just want to prove that he's strong and that's it! Blue wanted to be a Pokémon Master, it was impressive plus he realise that treating his pokemon with care and accepting defeat is more important than power.
Yeah that got really annoying, but pokemon games are ment to be played by all ages! So it needs to help at times for the younger players. I think it would be amazing if they would add a mode to the games that would have alittle less of the characters telling you where to go.
@@raeganw4451 the problem is the earlier games as far as I can remember didn't do that sure they helped you out but they didn't hold your hand and it actually made you think instead of pretty much guarenteeing you win every battle and giving you a rival you'd like and hate beating instead of one you hate and love beating
Pokemon is a series of constant "One step forward, 2 steps back" Every game introduces new features that fans love and then are taken away in the next installment, all because the creators like to pick and choose what features to add based on their emotional whims in the moment.
My biggest problem with Pokémon Sword and Shield is that there’s no actual villainous organization because, Let’s be real here, team yell is just a bunch of hooligans and fanboys supporting a girl 👧 from their hometown 🏡. And team yell is just a worst version of team skull ☠️. And macro cosmos are basically just a company that provides the region with limitless energy and this to Me makes Pokémon Sword and Shield the only Pokémon Video Games 🎮 without an actual villainous organization.
Yes. I so badly miss Megas. I understand that many of them were OP, but they could just be nerfed instead of removed. And it is especially stupid that non-3 stage evolution lines like Altaria, Mawile, and Sableye couldn’t just keep their megas as an extra evolution. Why waste those awesome models!?

@@kerrywien6775 Saying that Macro Cosmos is just a company that provides the region with limitless energy and therefore is not an evil team is like saying that Team Aqua is just a bunch of people who want more water and therefore is not an evil team. Granted, Team Yell was never really an evil team, but that wasn't the point for them. They were supposed to just be a minor hindrance that tided you over until Rose's true intentions were revealed
About lack of new post-game areas: I personally think lack of areas, period, is a problem. Compare Hammerlocke City, which look grand and majestic with towers in the background but is basically just one long street, to Castelia City from Unova; multiple streets and alleyways, on which almost every building is enterable and has new things to discover, PLUS a harbor, sewer area, and park. There are too many closed doors, too many cool things in the background that you can't explore.
Exactly, compare the forests and mountains to what we got before, and there wouldn't even be the issue of random encounters in mountains anymore so they could actually have things like twist mountain, mt coronet, diglet cave etc and they'd be fun.
Yep, the old games are way bigger and have tons of things to explore. Sword and Shield only give you an illusion of exploration, in reality the region is completely linear and has very few crossroads and the big places only look big from the outside. Easily the worst region in terms of exploration.
What really disappointed me in my playthrough was the lack of mystery. There's not a single real dungeon. There are like 2 caves and they are basicly nice looking hallways. Same for the cities. They look great but everything is a facade. You can barely enter or reach anything. The Victory Road was another 15 meter hallway. The top 4 were just some gym leaders I fought before. Team Yell sucked and the Tower of Chairman Rose is just an Elevator with like 4 fights. I'm still at 300h because of pvp and shiny hunting, but this was the most lackluster playthrough of any Pokemon game imo.
I had a lot of fun playing the game. (I went in with the mindset that it would suck) and still enjoyed the game play alot. However I agree with everything you said
Fucking interpol. Dont get me wrong, I like looker too. But the damn international police in a pokemon game? Sinnoh really was the region of crackheads.
The entire region felt empty to me tbh. Cities were pretty but had no special locations to interact with. Routes were incredibly dull. The lore was cut short for a half assed story to take its place. It just felt very hollow, unlike other regions.
The routes weren't the main problem for me. I wanted to see Oleana's backstory, but even though I still managed to enjoy the game, they really started running out of ideas. But I wpuldn't call the story half-assed.
@@tochie-ugorji2021 story is half-assed though. Sonia is your *only* source of story, since any events that may be cool or exciting that are related to what Rose is doing are blocked off from the player, being handled instead by Leon. WHY? This was a horrible decision, especially since the game then just becomes, "Beat the gyms and on the cusp of fighting the champion we'll remind you that you'll have an energy crisis *IN 1000 YEARS.*" That's bad writing. Every game so far has you attempting to meddle with the evil organization during your journey through the region. That isn't really possible in Galar since there's only 2 "teams" per se: Yell, which is pathetic to consider the official "Evil Organization" of the region, and the Macro Cosmos employees, which you get no time to actually bond with as your enemies, considering they shoehorn them in at the beginning of the tournament and never seen again. No matter which way you look at it, the story is as half-assed as the game itself...
I never liked routes as much as cities, and even though I wish they were more interactive, I liked the cities and towns in Sword and Shield. I just wish they spent more time on the game, but I like what was there.
It was far from perfect. If you wanted to have single 6V6 battles with random people, you had to navigate through the list of connected players and manually challenge them or wait for someone to challenge you. And while you were challenging someone, you couldn't recieve or challenge anyone else simultaniously. Also also, the odds are that 70% of the time you would get rejected by your oponent. And for what I can gather, Sword and Shield doesn't make it any better. Was it really that difficult to just make a "Battle For Fun" option were you get paired with someone else in seconds. You know... like in any other normal online game.
Let’s all be real here... the dream team is wobbuffet, magikarp, and solrock. And solrock only uses cosmic power. -Whenever I see 2 of the three of these I restart.
the whole battle tower is bad. The point distribution makes sense when considering the difficulty, but in the battle tree and and battle maison of gen 6 and 7, you'd start by getting 2BP per battle, bonus points and increased points per battle every 10 wins up to 50 wins I think, and not only that, you could keep going for as long as you want, for longer and longer streak until you lost or got bored, and later battles are proper challenging if you don't know what you're doing. So basically, the tower is too easy to clear, and the rewards are barely worth it after the first time
The only thing that slightly confuses me about SwSh is that Zamazenta doesn’t learn king’s shield, like I get it’s Aegislash’s move but Zamazenta is literally a *Shield* Pokémon that helped a *king* , so why can’t it learn king’s shield?
That's a really good point; I can't imagine why that's not in its move pool. Lots of previously exclusive moves got handed to other pokemon over the years.
@@davidlyckman1441 yes, someone else who agrees, Zamazenta doesn't even get great stuff while Zacian gets some of the best things in the game Also am I the only one who thinks their types probably should have been the other way around?
Tong Zhengjue 正覺 I would recommend replacing Sacred Sword with Close Combat, as it has better power then Sacred Sword. Proof: Sacred Sword has 90 power, while Close Combat has 120, and they have the same accuracy of 100%, which is amazing for such a powerful move like that. The problem is though, it does lower the user’s Defence and Special Defence.
My brother was watching me play, and at one point my Cinderace got confused. It then used Headbutt, but just used its standard kicking attack animation. My brother asked why it used its feet when using headbutt, but then he said “ah. It’s because he’s confused isn’t it”
I agree. Rotom rally is lame and tedious. If they're gonna add a mini game and force me to play it to get a much needed tm, then they should at least make it fun.
“Why did they remove the GTS? It was amazing.” **cut to people asking for level 100 Pokémon and putting a Bidoof for trade for a legendary** “Oh that’s why...”
I am genuinely sick of people offering impossible trades for their shiny legendaries. Wow, you have a shiny zekrom that you made untradable intentionally. Maybe instead of flexing over a shiny pokemon, you should, I don't know, USE THE POKEMON THAT TAKES LUCK AND/OR HACKS/CHEATS TO OBTAIN?!!
I spent a while trying to catch a Ditto so I could get a level 100 shiny Mewtwo on the GTS. Turns out, they had it set so I had to get a male Ditto, which is impossible. I got a non-shiny Mewtwo in the end though.
I need more customization options for my trainer, including to make them younger or older. How am I supposed to catch the Dimmsdale Dimmadome if my trainer doesn't look like Doug Dimmadome, owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome?
That would be awesome my trainer is a child and in real life I'm an adult. How is That fair they they put adult npc in game and not for people who play the game on switch.
My favorite new Pokémon is the mouse cursor in the end credits it’s ultra rare and it’s only in a cutscene for 1 second it’s the rarest mythical Pokémon of all time
I hate that the GTS is gone. I don't have the game yet, but I already know the GTS removal is gonna make completing the Pokédex a huge pain in the ass. Especially when trying to get Zamazenta (I'm getting Sword). (edit) Okay guys, I got Sword for Christmas, and I've already found a Discord server entirely dedicated to trading. I already got a sweet apple throught trade and I now have an Appletun.
Fun tip from an amateur coder regarding #1: when testing variables and odds, make the change notable. This glitch could easily have been noticed before release if, say, when the chance was active, all the Pokémon became wobbufet or something. Double checking and triple checking your work is absolutely necessary in any field.
Game Freak honestly aren't that good at programming. RBY is of course an example of them when they started out, but even up to Sun and Moon they had a lot of weird programming quirks, glitches, and dumb ideas. See the weird way they store Lillie in each map.
@@UsedNapkin3115 I can't exactly find any of the articles anymore, so I may actually be wrong on that front, but from what I remember she's stored under the map. There are also multiple near identical models of her as well as other trainers. PlatinumAltaria that is not how that works, he genuinely likes the games. @@AshenDust_ I guarantee that some people really do like the games. But I don't respect their opinion, especially when they seem genuinely unwilling to defend it. Boy I’m sure glad they added an actual post game, something the game should have had from the start. I’m so glad they care about us, and the $30 we’ll give for something we should already have :^)
Agreed! I wish Gamefreak and the Pokemon Company would expand on good features, instead of straight up removing them, in exchange for crappy ones. ie Festival Plaza.
@@nine_tails137 yeah their internet features have steadily gotten WORSE with each generation. Even though they made a main feature of Sword/Shield basically require people to be online because the npcs are worse than just going alone and yet the matchmaking is absolute garbage. Like it's embarresing that a major game developer in 2021 has matchmaking that awful. That alone puts gen 8 as the absolute worst generation to me
I personally hate the Raids with only one PokeBall throw. And I hate the TRs, sure they sounded interesting a bit, until I learned they made all the good attacks TRs and made TMs mostly terrible moves like Scary Face
After a couple hundred raids you have multiple copies of all the TRs so actually it's pretty convenient since you never really have to worry much about their availability and some of the best moves are in TRs. Also pretty much all of them are sold by the Watts traders so even if there's one you haven't obtained in a raid, you'll eventually find it for sale.
@@stevenleonmusic Except not. I have done many ice type Raids and haven't even gotten a single Ice Beam TR. TRs are friggin stupid and never should of been invented

The video is great, and I appreciate how you express yourself clearly and factually. However, I did not see enough presentation of facts for the shiny odds issue. Show code? Show proof? Calling the shiny odds clarification article a lie is a large claim so I just want to see some actual evidence on that. Showing code and explaining how it is wrong would be the only sufficient evidence imo. Thanks
Thank you! As for your question, I don't have the code myself, but I've spoken directly with the webmaster of Serebii who has seen it and analyzed it. Him and those who work with him believe that the method is bugged strongly enough to display on the site the information that I shared. That was good enough for me, since I know nothing about game code. Showing it would just be meaningless words for me and many others, and I have no chance of being able to explain it. Therefore I chose to trust the word of someone I know to be knowledgeable on this subject
Keep going you will get your wooloo eventually I got mines at 364 encounters the KO method may be a little bit messed up but you still going to get the shiny regardless if you keep going
Can we count the story as a flaw? I don’t know I liked the gym stuff that was fine but the main “evil villain wants world or something battle for good bleh” is lackluster. I mean even the Alola had a pretty rounded story. Nice villians, fun characters, good plot overall. It felt like the world was at stake and you needed to save the world. But these games are basically Sonia: “Oh children, go off on your fun adventure and let us **ADULTS** take care of the fun potentially apocalyptic scenario. (8 gym badges later) Leon: Kay... okay guys we failed fight the giant angle dragon. No buildup, no plot besides “Oh hello. Yes here’s what I’ve found now go off to your fun whimsical gym adventure”
And let's not forget that the "villain team" of the game is just a bunch of fat, sweaty fanboys who commit heinous crimes like... trying to let a Silicobra sleep by cheering for it?
they still didn't fix the problem with people asking for impossible pokemon all i wanted was just to get a rowlet but people but people ask for impossible pokemon
All very valid points, no complaints at all. What bothers me the most is the lack of technological advancement in the franchise. Let's be honest it's a 3ds game with very minor upgrades. That doesn't take away from how fun a game is but i would rather not have a new game for the next 5 years and then get a significant improvement than what we got with sword and shield.
Given that they've managed to mess up even without doing anything new, I really don't think they should be trying to upgrade the series. Focus on making a fun game first.
I totally agree, just take a look at other RPG switch games like Xenoblade Chronicles and Dragon Quest, they look absolutely stunning while sword and shield don't seem to be improved much from the 3ds games.
My friend accidentally traded my Zamazenta with a stranger when I traded to him so I could have it in sword, all because he didn't check who he was trading, still completed the pokedex
correction: in link trades, you can know if you got your friend in the trade. you just have to go over a cubbyhole that isn’t occupied by a pokemon, and you can see the other person’s name.
The GTS pisses me off the most that was one of the only features that remains from the PSS before getting removed and I loved it and now they removed that as well like what the heck
The GTS was a tried and true staple since Gen 4 even. I guess they didn't want people using multiple accounts to trade between themselves but in that case couldn't they have at least made trading with friends easier????
The social aspect of this game is a complete fail. None of the systems (besides one) work properly and are ridiculously clunky to use. They really should just bring back the PSS and stick with that. It worked so incredibly well.
I feel like this game is a great proof of concept as to what game freak is going to be doing with these games on the switch. Keep in mind this is very early in Pokemon's switch lifespan. This isn't even a new pattern. Compare dppt at the beginning of the DS lifespan to BW/BW2 at the end. If anything if the test games are this fun, I'm willing to bet the final games on the switch will be the best we've ever gotten.
That doesn't excuse things like not even animating backgrounds for some battles. Breath of the wild was the first zelda game on the switch but that wasn't littered with bugs and issues.
That's true. While the game has some dumb oversights, they're in a bit of an odd position in that they're just NOW developing a major console title, having always worked on the handhelds before, so they're kind of unpracticed at it, which isn't the case for most developers.
James Dinius More like Gen 8 criticizer. Someone who even though likes the games acknowledges the fact these games have massive flaws that need to be fixed(beyond the National dex and animations even though that’s also an issue for most)
ryebread07 Honestly I don’t know. I think the main reason is the company saying they’re cutting Pokémon to improve animations and they kinda shirked on that.
ryebread07 The fact they didn’t specify probably didn’t help their case. I mean if I went to say “Hey Imma get you something to eat” you’d assume I’d get you food but I could just as easily get you a pet rabbit and a bottle of teriyaki. Being specific matters and for a company to be as vague as that wasn’t good for its pr
Simplest way to fix the GTS would be for Mons put up for trades, to be sent back after a set amount of time. It's so simple that I'm surprised it wasn't done in the first place.
And simply make it to where if you ask for a certain pokemon that is only available at a certain level+ (Example: Reshiram at 50) You can't select a lower level than it's minimum possible level. The same should hold true for evolved pokemon as well.
Maevox and also you should be able to type any Pokémon you want. In the previous games it had to be seen in your Pokédex and it was a scroll list, it’s tedious scrolling through all the infinite letter s mons.
Pokefan JD Some evolved Pokémon can be found under the level it’s supposed to be evolved in. Remember how in Gen 7, you could find an level 10 Salamance near the beginning of the game?
#6: you can't see which pokemon your trade partner is hovering over. you legit gotta select a pokemon to see what they even want to trade you. and then you offer a pokemon for their pokemon and they selected a different pokemon.
Gamefreak in 2030: "Hey, looks like you just started the game. Now pay us 30 dollars even though you literally spent almost 60 dollars on the game just so you can leave your house and reach our next paywall 20 yards away"
@@lordghirahim8880 At least then it probably wouldn't be so broken. ...then again I'm probably giving gamefreak too much credit since the games have been broken since they tried to eliminate grinding.
The thing I love about you making these videos, is how you go all out. It makes it enjoyable to watch and funny at the same time. Drawing me into the video more and more. I just love how you say "Don't worry, I do like the games," and still go all out with valid points. Keep up the awesome work. My problems: 1: shinies don’t appear In the overworld 2: no gts 3: meowth got another form and it is disgusting 4: there is basically no new shiny method other than the glitched one 5: my favorite pokemon, sandslash, is not in
I feel you. my favorite pokemon isn't in either. But fear not, just because a pokemon isn't in Sword and Shield doesn't mean it's permanently banned from all future games. I'm sure he'll appear in future games.
1 hard core games were crying in let’s go shinys were to easy 2 people were abusing gts asking for legendary Pokémon for a common and racist names 3 I like the new Meowth from 4 I guess 5 ugh
My biggest complaint was how team Yell ultimately amounts to nothing. There’s never a boss fight or a storyline for them. They’re just there and then just kind of not there
I mean, I personally don't have an issue with this because I think the evil team gimmick needs to change as it is getting stale. I think the Chairman was a good villain as opposed to what could have been with Team Yell. I enjoyed the Aether Foundation storyline in S/M so much for this reason.
I miss sprites, they gave such a charm. And the icon I wish they brought back the old ones instead of changing the size of them, they were a charm too. In bank I feel like they should make a gen 3 or 4 style sprite when you look at a Pokemon, but you can actually see the animation when you click on them, just to give the charm aspect when collecting them all
yeah, dynamax charizard is stronger, giga just applies fire spin, big fucking whoop. while dyna causes sunny day which is far superior if youre running charcoal and launching flamethrowers or other fire moves (fire blast is too inaccurate for me sorry)
Some of the things I feel needs improvement in general: 1) Way to mass release pokemon. When you breed or even catch pokemon we need a way to get rid of the trash effectively. Maybe bring back the Pokemon Go system where we can turn them in for Candy (In this case Exp Candy) 2) Unlimited Box Storage. Really no reason not to have this considering Storage is handled Client side. 3) Mass Sorting. Id love the option to sort the entire Storage system by Dex number, lvl, ivs, nature, etc 4) Refresh rate and we need the ability to refresh anytime we want. 5) Lobby for max raids to select what pokemon we want to raid for. 6) Ability to use 4 of your own pokemon with Offline raids. 7) More towns, Larger areas, More content to do in general. 8) Ban Surprise Trades until you beat the game. Surprise trades ruin the game for newer players. 9) And much more lol
"More content to do in general" Yeah this, there's less to do this Gen than just about any other I can remember, at it costs $20 more, with $30 extra for a late post game...zzz
I feel like you failed to mention some actual flaws with the game 1: The lifeless and boring battle and Pokémon animations. I don’t know why people are defending these. It’s unacceptable. I don’t think Game Freak is lazy, I think the games’ devs worked in poor conditions or were rushed. Regardless, Game Freak told us they were going to make them better, and lied. They are the exact same as in Sun and Moon, and whether or not you care, you need to acknowledge that it’s an issue. The games are the best looking in the series (Though not by very much) so the lifeless animations look horrendous and out of place on the HD models. They didn’t even bother to animate most of them. A lot of Pokémon simply move up and down for most of their moves. Pokémon is the largest media franchise on the planet, so they can afford to animate them MOVING once or twice. 2: The complete lack of a plot. No, the gyms don’t count. Giving the player a jersey and making the gyms stadiums doesn’t contribute to a plot. It increases the scope and look of the gyms, but contributes to nothing outside of them. And yes, the very end of the game and the post game are okay, but they’re super basic. Emergency villain figure does bad thing and accidentally awakens the legendary and now you have to stop it. The sword and shield guys in the post game (forgot the names) are uninteresting characters that make you fight Dynamax Pokémon in the gyms. Wow. 3: The absence of a real, consistent villain figure. Rose isn’t real or consistent. He’s barely visible in the actual plot, and his villainous motivations almost don’t exist. After being absent for most of the story, he appears at the very end saying that he wants to secure Galar’s industrial future and doesn’t care how it happens. Minutes later, you fight him, and then he just gives up. He doesn’t cause massive collateral damage like Lysandre, he doesn’t continue with his plans despite losing the battle like Maxie and Archie, and he doesn’t team up with another organization to assist in his goals. Every other Pokémon game has either had a villain figure that’s present and evil throughout the story (Cyrus, Maxie, Giovanni) or has had an awesome surprise villain that’s been hiding in plain sight the whole time (Lysandre, Lusamine) Rose is neither. 5: The disgusting reliance on old Pokémon despite a lot of the dex being cut 6: Some areas in the game are jaw dropping and gorgeous (Slumbering Weald and the other forest areas), while some look like total trash (The Wild area, in particular) 7: The fact that either Hop or Sonia stops you every time you take a damn step for the WHOLE GAME 8: The small routes that don’t have much in them. Previous games had huge mountains and dungeons with several floors with branching paths and hidden items, sometimes even a legendary. Sw/Sh have none of those things. Almost Every route is a linear path to the end with the occasional “Go on one path and you fight a trainer and get an item.” 9: This is kind of subjective, but the lack of new and interesting ideas is a huge flaw in my eyes, especially with the new hardware. When I say “new ideas” I mean things that are genuinely unique and NEW to the games. Things like new abilities and moves aren’t innovative ideas, they’re expansions on old Pokémon mechanics. Dynamiting and the Wild Area are the two new ideas, and they are both WOEFULLY underdeveloped. Dynamaxing is not interesting. It is a lesser version of Z-Moves and Mega Evolutions. When Pokémon Dynamax, they’re models get bigger, and there are new animations for move types that are less detailed than Z-Moves. When Pokémon Gigantamax, it’s literally Mega Evolution, but far less accessible since you not only need specific species of Pokémon, but need a Pokémon that is able to Gigantamax (Of which there aren’t many)
1. I'd love them to be improved, but I wasn't expecting it to to be honest. They don't really have an excuse at this point. 2. I suppose the plot is the Gym challenge and that's it until right at the end of the game. It did seem pretty barren lore wise. 3. True. 4. Where is number 4? Unlucky number Mista? 5. 100% agree. Still grinds my gears that they have Charizard in the game, but no other starter makes it. Not even Venusaur or Blastoise. What the hell? 6. I agree. 7. I didn't think it was as bad as Sun or Moon, but it still was pretty annoying. 8. To add to this, there aren't that many locations either. 9. The fact that they removed unique ideas, like Mega Evolution and Z-Moves, and replaced them with "BIG MONS" bugs the hell out of me.
Olkard 1: Thank you for being civil about this and not calling me trash because our opinions differ slightly :3 2: I appreciate the Jojo reference and the correction. (That’s there because I almost added one that said “The fact that a lot of the important figures in the game don’t have new Pokémon” but I couldn’t remember many occasions of it and I didn’t feel like researching it either
@@Olkard There are 35 currently -- unobtainable -- Pokemon in Sword and Shield's database. These include the Bulbasaur and Squirtle lines, all three Alola starters, and some legendary trios and mythicals.
I literally just lost my whole train of thought to find out about those shiny odds being bugged. I have fought nearly 700 zigzagoon across 2 weeks and hatched an equal amount with no luck in a shiny. Good to know the shiny odds weren't helped at all
The eggrates arent bugged. If you have the shiny charm + one of the parent pokemon is from a different country of yours, your chances are at about 500/1. I have gotten a random shiny and a toxel after around 300 eggs, while ive killed 700 rolycolys and nothing yet.
Nintendo wasn’t the ones who made the game though , gamefreak made Pokémon sword and shield , Nintendo has very little influence over what gamefreak does with Pokémon , besides owning the IP and owning gamefreak.
Here are my five biggest problems with the games, personally: 1. National Dex cut, lots of my favorites got axed and now I feel like there’s no point in breeding for special Pokémon when they’re just gonna get blocked from future entries 2. GTS got cut, which makes searching for version exclusives and Pokémon in special Pokéballs far more of a hassle (not to mention how much giveaways relied on the GTS, now what are they gonna do?) 3. Region is immensely bare-bones, no alternate areas or prominent dungeons to explore much of (the Galar Mines are far too linear and short, much like the Routes) 4. The story is a massive downgrade from Sun and Moon’s, now our only objective is to obtain Badges (no focus ever given to the evil Team, no hideout or big thing they do related to the plot) ...Not to mention that the motives of the main antagonist make no sense. They had the ingredients for a plot about the health of the planet, with Cursola and the Industrial Revolution stuff everywhere, but they completely squandered it. 1,000 years?!?! How is that a threat you can’t wait one day to address? Plus, it’s not even a good comparison to Earth’s health crisis, we have FAR less time than 1,000 years to fix the mess we’ve made. And what about the fact that this plot was never hinted at once before it just decided to happen? Seriously, what the heck? 5. I’m personally not loving Gen 8’s Pokémon roster. James Turner has designed Pokémon I love such as Vanilluxe and Naganadel, but... I guess his style isn’t my cup of tea when it comes to an entire Generation of Pokémon. Cursola line, Frosmoth line, and Pincurchin are the only ones I really “love” this Gen. Which is a shame, considering the recent Gens have had so many Pokémon I’ve grown to adore. Cursola, my favorite Gen 8 Pokémon, isn’t even in my top 20 favorites list, if I remember correctly. Usually, new Pokémon Gens have lots to add to my favorites list. But this Gen’s aesthetics and... design directions are very strange to me. -Why is Polteageist a humanoid? Why can’t it look weirder? Maybe a wave-shaped head with eyes lining the top? -Why is Coalossal Golem 2.0, and why does it abandon everything that made Rolycoly great? Where are the orange eyes (sure, they light up orange, but why are they normally white)? Where did the arms and legs come from? WHY AREN’T THERE WHEELS WHEN THAT WAS THE GIMMICK OF THE FIRST TWO STAGES?!?! WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A ROCK/FIRE COAL TRAIN, AND IT WOULD HAVE LOOKED AWESOME! -Why did Eiscue get such a unique-looking face, but then the body is a stock penguin body? It feels like there was one minute left before the design was due, they had no body, and they just doodled a regular, generic penguin body and added those weird blue triangles that don’t even stand out too much. At least make the feet look different, or the proportions a bit weirder! Such a great face shouldn’t be burdened by this body! ...So yeah, that’s my overly long list of grievances with these games. I still bought them because I’ve wanted a sea urchin Pokémon forever and I finally got one, but these games have flaws that can’t be ignored. Thanks for listening, though! Here’s to a better set of games in the future, and for GameFreak’s employees to be freed from the cruel torture of time crunch. Cheers! :D
@@Glory2Snowstar who's the dog? Vanilluxe is in my top worst pokemon ever created only behind Duosion, Boldore, Tympole and the one cone ice cream that I can't even recall the name... hahaha
I guess we just have different tastes. I love Duosion, Boldore, and pretty much every other Pokémon you just listed. I wasn’t talking about any canine Pokémon in particular, I’m just saying that an ice cream Pokémon is way more creative than a Pokémon like Lucario and yet everybody hates on the ice cream. I’ve never understood why, either. Then again, I also love Garbodor, Klinklang, Crabominable, and Chimecho. So I guess it’s just a case of “different strokes for different folks.” My personal last favorite Pokémon are Fearow, the Kamis (Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus), and Talonflame. Although I don’t hate Talonflame’s design, just what it did in Gen 6.
Really glad you’re covering topics other than “not enough animation” or the dex cuts or the bad story. I agree that they’re all very glaring issues but I’ve heard about enough of it already haha
A couple of minor problems I have with the game are that you can't take off your bag for your League Card and that you can't wear a hat during with your Challenger Uniform during the gym mission. The ghost kid (not Allister, a gym challenger that uses Ghost-types in the post-game tournament) wears a hat, why can't I? Also, Hammerlocke is huge, it's basically a castle. It's got those long things spread around it that are supposed resemble dragon wings. I wanna go on those. I wanted to explore Hammerlocke!
The removed the gts because you can make multiple accounts and transfer data through switch live, to make sure you play the games the most legit way possible. They wanted to also decrease on hacked pokemon. Its sucks but they have there reasons
The hacked mon thing doesn't make sense, just laziness. Why? Because they can put something else better since you can still create, hack etc. Proofing the game or making it harder will help.
Am I the only one who remembers that as of the end of the post-game that you literally become King of the Galar region? The two big-hair-boys abdicate their throne(s) to you!
I was blown away by the graphics, personally. Same with the animations. Everything looked so smooth, definitely an upgrade over previous generations My issue is actually the Pokemon's AI in the overworld / in camping. They're always bumping into each other or they don't always respond immediately. I was upset by the National Dex, at first. But, thinking about it, I understand why it was cut. Having over 800 at this point puts a lot of stress on any console. Not to mention the developers. In fact, in my opinion, part of the reason why Sun and Moon lagged so much was because of everything it was trying to load at once. I haven't completed the game yet to know whether it is too easy or not, but difficulty has never been a problem for me in a Pokemon game. I understand some people want that in a game, but it being so easy means I don't have to spend as much time grinding. For me, grinding is boring and tedious. I'm going to get a lot of hate but this is my opinion and I have the right to an opinion. I honestly feel as though Sword and Shield gets much more hate than it deserves. Take Sobble's final evolution about it. People were whining about how lanky it was (btw, it's a lizard people, grow up) and how it ruined the evolution line for them. But I think it's awesome. I love the hand-on-hip pose it has and it's signature move is sniper shot! I think that's really fucking cool.
Of course you are allowed to have your opinion Gatr, but this game gets a lot of hate because of everything Michael said and more. It's less game than most of the DS and 3DS Pokémon games for 50% more price. The story is lamer, thinner, and more handholding than any generation before this one. There is no post game to speak off outside catching the legendaries after a couple "go here, talk to these people" fetch quests. They don't even have a shiny hunting method like the last 4 generations before this one. Masuda is the only legit method you can use with the exception of RE if you are a full odds hunter. The National Dex isn't a problem just because it cut pokemon. It's that the reasons given for it are lies and fabrications. The game looks like it should have been made for the PS2, not a new generation console in 2019. They didn't spend much time refreshing the graphics and half the moves don't have animations for most of the mons. They just bounce up and down and do nothing. Check out Arlo's review for these games because the only honest reviews you can get are from non-Poketubers who aren't financially invested in telling Nintendo that these are "fantastic games with only minor complaints" If you tell them thank you for this bare bones game, then don't be surprised when the next ones remove more things and fans and media tell you to be grateful for what they allow you to have.
I live in the Philippines, so people don’t have enough money to even buy a Switch Lite. Plus, there’s literally no house near me, so having no stamps (except for mine) in Y-Comm is natural for me.

The only time I get wild area lag is if I'm entering a new high weather area (snowstorm, sandstorm), which is expected. I never get lag when connected to the Internet. I don't know if its a switch thing, I'd say its a friend thing but I have a LOT of swsh friends.
@@joewhite4456 that's weird, I've never had those issues and I tend to roam a lot with Internet on. Only times I don't is when I'm manipulating weather.
The game isn't graphically demanding at all. The fact that it lags even with graphics as mediocre as these and even though the loading distances are laughably short really says alot about how good GameFreak is at programming these days. I really hope they hire more people and above all skilled people to help with the development for the next games, they can't seem to get even the most basic things right with these games.

Tip to mass release: 1). transfer all unwanted Pokémon to Pokémon Home 2). from Pokémon Home transfer to Pokémon Legends Arceus. 3). Mass release them all simply on PLA and be rewarded for it! I did it with 200 Gible today while farming for shiny Gible.
It boggles my mind that nobody at Nintendo realised how important PSS was, and it was instead treated as just another gimmick. Y-Comm isn't as bad as Festival Plaza, but it's inexcusable for it not to have the communication features PSS had over six years ago, and it's a huge deal in a game as supposedly interactive as Pokemon.
Y Comm: The fact that so many raids get cancelled when you tried to connect. Also, no GTS. Why? It was damn hard to complete the pokedex for me. (Thank you, anon from 4chan for helping me with my last 8!)
I think part part of the reason GF got rid of the gts was because people were abusing it by hacking in pokemon for competitive in other games with it, and since competitive was a main focus this gen, they wanted to do any they could to stop the hacking, or at least dampen it.
Aside from the 5 things you mentioned, my main issues were:
Right? I got long hair for 3k and a super cool outfit but when I ride my bike it looks like some honedge chopped it off
Also bike is legit needed to surf
The situation with the routes is because the game was originally in development for 3ds. The Wild Area was created when the developers knew they were transitioning to the switch. For example, the new areas are going to have the same mechanics that the wild area does; however, the routes we currently have are more similar to ultra sun and moon.
Misty4eva the bike clothes are literally ugly as frick
The character you play is always 11 for some reason, so they're gonna treat you like 11, even though it gets annoying

Megas were constant from Gens 6-7, and Let's Go as well.
My biggest problem with Pokémon Sword and Shield is that there’s no actual villainous organization because, Let’s be real here, team yell is just a bunch of hooligans and fanboys supporting a girl 👧 from their hometown 🏡.

About lack of new post-game areas: I personally think lack of areas, period, is a problem. Compare Hammerlocke City, which look grand and majestic with towers in the background but is basically just one long street, to Castelia City from Unova; multiple streets and alleyways, on which almost every building is enterable and has new things to discover, PLUS a harbor, sewer area, and park. There are too many closed doors, too many cool things in the background that you can't explore.
The fact that you can't ride the Wyndon ferris wheel cheeses me.
Exactly, compare the forests and mountains to what we got before, and there wouldn't even be the issue of random encounters in mountains anymore so they could actually have things like twist mountain, mt coronet, diglet cave etc and they'd be fun.
Only thing I know you can go to is the next half of slumbering weald
Yep, the old games are way bigger and have tons of things to explore. Sword and Shield only give you an illusion of exploration, in reality the region is completely linear and has very few crossroads and the big places only look big from the outside.

Maybe since there's no longer a bottom screen? Then again, they got rid of it in Gen 7 for no reason
GameFreak hates keeping good features in their games or ones that are acceptable.
It was far from perfect. If you wanted to have single 6V6 battles with random people, you had to navigate through the list of connected players and manually challenge them or wait for someone to challenge you. And while you were challenging someone, you couldn't recieve or challenge anyone else simultaniously. Also also, the odds are that 70% of the time you would get rejected by your oponent.

the whole battle tower is bad.

After a couple hundred raids you have multiple copies of all the TRs so actually it's pretty convenient since you never really have to worry much about their availability and some of the best moves are in TRs. But these games are basically
Sonia: “Oh children, go off on your fun adventure and let us **ADULTS** take care of the fun potentially apocalyptic scenario.

Leon: Kay... okay guys we failed fight the giant angle dragon.

@@PlatinumAltaria
Isn't that what upgrading is?
I totally agree, just take a look at other RPG switch games like Xenoblade Chronicles and Dragon Quest, they look absolutely stunning while sword and shield don't seem to be improved much from the 3ds games.

Pokémon doesn't care anymore bro.
I'm pretty sure that's because they took out the nickname censor.

What's the deal with shinies anyway? They're not stronger, just rare. I don't get the obsession
My biggest complaint was how team Yell ultimately amounts to nothing. There’s never a boss fight or a storyline for them. They’re just there and then just kind of not there
and they end up not even being evil, Just some gym trainers.
I mean, I personally don't have an issue with this because I think the evil team gimmick needs to change as it is getting stale. I think the Chairman was a good villain as opposed to what could have been with Team Yell. I enjoyed the Aether Foundation storyline in S/M so much for this reason.

Some of the things I feel needs improvement in general:
1) Way to mass release pokemon. When you breed or even catch pokemon we need a way to get rid of the trash effectively. Maybe bring back the Pokemon Go system where we can turn them in for Candy (In this case Exp Candy)
2) Unlimited Box Storage. Really no reason not to have this considering Storage is handled Client side.
3) Mass Sorting. Id love the option to sort the entire Storage system by Dex number, lvl, ivs, nature, etc
4) Refresh rate and we need the ability to refresh anytime we want.
What is wrong with surprise trades in early game
"More content to do in general" Yeah this, there's less to do this Gen than just about any other I can remember, at it costs $20 more, with $30 extra for a late post game...zzz
Hope the dlc includes more content and Pokémon I want dragonite and salemence
DistantKingdom: "There's 9999999999 actually"
I feel like you failed to mention some actual flaws with the game
1: The lifeless and boring battle and Pokémon animations.
5: The disgusting reliance on old Pokémon despite a lot of the dex being cut
6: Some areas in the game are jaw dropping and gorgeous (Slumbering Weald and the other forest areas), while some look like total trash (The Wild area, in particular)
7: The fact that either Hop or Sonia stops you every time you take a damn step for the WHOLE GAME
8: The small routes that don’t have much in them. Previous games had huge mountains and dungeons with several floors with branching paths and hidden items, sometimes even a legendary. Sw/Sh have none of those things. Almost Every route is a linear path to the end with the occasional “Go on one path and you fight a trainer and get an item.”
9: This is kind of subjective, but the lack of new and interesting ideas is a huge flaw in my eyes, especially with the new hardware.
Olkard 1: Thank you for being civil about this and not calling me trash because our opinions differ slightly :3
2: I appreciate the Jojo reference and the correction. (That’s there because I almost added one that said “The fact that a lot of the important figures in the game don’t have new Pokémon” but I couldn’t remember many occasions of it and I didn’t feel like researching it either

Its refreshing to hear someone address issues like this instead of bad trees, grass, water, Nat Dex, lack of story, etc.
All can be true lol
Here are my five biggest problems with the games, personally:
1. National Dex cut, lots of my favorites got axed and now I feel like there’s no point in breeding for special Pokémon when they’re just gonna get blocked from future entries
2. GTS got cut, which makes searching for version exclusives and Pokémon in special Pokéballs far more of a hassle (not to mention how much giveaways relied on the GTS, now what are they gonna do?)
3. Region is immensely bare-bones, no alternate areas or prominent dungeons to explore much of (the Galar Mines are far too linear and short, much like the Routes)
4. The story is a massive downgrade from Sun and Moon’s, now our only objective is to obtain Badges (no focus ever given to the evil Team, no hideout or big thing they do related to the plot)
...Not to mention that the motives of the main antagonist make no sense.
Cheers! :D

So I guess it’s just a case of “different strokes for different folks.”
My personal last favorite Pokémon are Fearow, the Kamis (Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus), and Talonflame.

We need to change bring back national dex to bring back GTS
I agree dude
Something i could actually support.
@@volcanosumit It really wasn't that useless, you could just filter for Pokemon you own and it'd clear out the garbage trades.
@@volcanosumit I prefer a broken trading system than no global trade system. It was annoying to find dumb trades but you didn't have to do them.
No, both.
The removed the gts because you can make multiple accounts and transfer data through switch live, to make sure you play the games the most legit way possible. They wanted to also decrease on hacked pokemon. Its sucks but they have there reasons
Yet literally the game has the most bugs in it of any Pokémon game with hatching a gyrados, date spoofing, and literally milking out shines for free
The hacked mon thing doesn't make sense, just laziness. Why? Because they can put something else better since you can still create, hack etc. Proofing the game or making it harder will help.
And then...

every other youtuber talks about the same problems:
Too easy
Graphics
Animations
No national dex
Nice to see something different
If everyone says they saw a red bus, that's not because people are unoriginal, it's because there really was a red bus.
@@PlatinumAltaria i just thought it would be the same as any other list
@@nerdykatt3771 I agree with everything you said
Of course you are allowed to have your opinion Gatr, but this game gets a lot of hate because of everything Michael said and more.
My biggest issue is I can’t give Zacian a belly rub it’s a crime to not be able to cuddle with sword doggo
I live in the Philippines, so people don’t have enough money to even buy a Switch Lite. Plus, there’s literally no house near me, so having no stamps (except for mine) in Y-Comm is natural for me.

@@DesDeLaNet But you'll have to pay $30 for each of them; due to the more impressive appearance of the DLC content, some people are saying that the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra were originally part of those "new" postgame areas cut at the last minute.
@@RFLCTNS no you only have to pay $30 for both of them together as they both are in an expansion pass. now yes you have to spend $60 bucks if you have both games and want the expansion pass for both of them.

This game feels more like a flash game than a Nintendo game 🤷♀️
The only time I get wild area lag is if I'm entering a new high weather area (snowstorm, sandstorm), which is expected. I never get lag when connected to the Internet. I don't know if its a switch thing, I'd say its a friend thing but I have a LOT of swsh friends.
I get it all the time, sometimes the whole thing freezes for a second and jumps forward or sometimes pokemon even spawn in right next to me.

It is. Competitive is dead for me. Loved battling in the past two gens. But no National Dex and Gyarados with power whip? Oh please. Kill me.
Tip to mass release:
1). transfer all unwanted Pokémon to Pokémon Home
2). from Pokémon Home transfer to Pokémon Legends Arceus.
If you are playing Emerald, you get Navel Rock and Birth Island for Ho-oh, Lugia and Deoxys. At least it is not that limited as RS and ORAS

I think part part of the reason GF got rid of the gts was because people were abusing it by hacking in pokemon for competitive in other games with it, and since competitive was a main focus this gen, they wanted to do any they could to stop the hacking, or at least dampen it.
