Gosport Ferry’s #portsmouth pontoon is just a short walk from Portsmouth Harbour train station and The Hard Interchange for First Bus, #Stagecoach, and National Express services and the taxi rank. At Gosport, the ferry terminal is right next to the bus station. The nearest parking to the Gosport pontoon is at Mumby Road Bus Station car park and South Street car park. At Portsmouth, car parking is available at Gunwharf Quays, Wickham Street, Gunwharf Road, and Queen Street.

As a you g school boy in the 70s I took that ferry everyday in every weather. No covered walkways then, and the ride shared with hundreds of dockyard workers and their bicycles. I also remember the open deck boats that preceded the newer ones. We were in awe when the new boats arrived!

Nice trip across the harbour. Funny that you mention no duty free. Reminds me of the 1987 general election and the 657 Party had a candidate for the Portsmouth south seat. Part of their manifesto was to make the Gosport ferry "Duty Free". They didn't win the seat but it would have been interesting if they had. Ha ha.
