I just got 2k14 ps4, was shocked at how realistic some of the player movements were, and how real the players themselves were. I was always caught off gaurd by what they did and how they did it, felt real. THIS IS 100% AI, they dont even move when you are standing still, they only stick to eachother, thus not moving.
I for one can't wait to play it. I see it actually has defense and you actually have to slow down. Real basketball right here. I could care less about graphics I want good gsmeplay. I'm sure you can speed it up if its slow but it looks damn good to me and I was doubting this game big time. It looks awesome.

I'll be getting both 2K and NBA LIVE, but despite what most people are saying, I think that I prefer the look of Live better. The reflection off the ground, and the presentation make it look more real despite 2K having better animations and character models.

The thing about live is that they pay attention to little things. Things that are in this game, we want them in 2k (like wire, espn presentation, awesome menu, cool game summary etc). Although live doesn't catch up to 2k graphics and animations, its good to see that this game is improving well. Maybe one day we'll choose it over 2k.
Gameplay is slightly better than 2k's,but animation still has a long way to go. Live is getting there if they are willing to put in the work. Overall 2k is the better game
Difference between 2K and LIVE apart from gameplay is the attention to detail. - LIVE has bench players sitting with their tracksuits if they didn't play yet. 2K just makes everyone wear their jerseys. - There is only 1 photographer on 2K but there are a few in LIVE.

Player/ball animations look great. Loving the transitions between animations and the absence of clipping issues that still seem hard coded into 2K. But god, those textures/models are subpar for the console...
This is the same EA Sports we have always knew. This game is not worth $60. If you like basketball get 2K Sports games because 2K always goes over the top with exciting games. The My Player In NBA 2K14 is awesome. EA should just step off making NBA games, 2K Sports knows what they are doing.
I got my friend to buy this recently and all of a sudden he can't stop playing it! He swears he hates the game, but he always playing it and talking about what he doing in the offseason. 2K fan's enjoy live very much. they just hate how much they love this game and NBA Live action.

Props to EA for trying. At least their existence will get 2K to work harder for us. I like the fluidity in some parts of the gameplay and the floor spacing on Live more than 2K. The game feels to fast in 2K not just 2K14 and there are too many times players run into each other in 2K Basketball. This is from playing 2K only since 2K8. Otherwise as a long time 2K user I just like that series better and I'm used to it. I like the graphics and presentation better, and MyCareer mode has added the small details I always wanted from a basketball game (behind story.) That's why I'll probably only get 2K14 and use Live 14 money on a different game. Maybe Live 15 will persuade me or a $10 copy of Live 14
I will have to disagree. I think 2k will look at the this game and laugh and feel no competition. Therefore they will actually not work nearly as hard knowing once again they have absolutely NO completion.
tunerz4lyfe Well you have the right to your opinions. I agree you in some cases. Live 14 isn't a large improvement from whatever the previous release was. So 2K could/can let their guard down because Live hasn't done enough. But I can't deny that they have improved. As for the negatives. The figures still have toothpick knee/legs, not a huge advancement in graphic department (from what I have seen through videos.) There are still machine like movements in the players (like FIFA 14 vs PES 2014.) Career mode is probably not as good as 2K14. I guess my thoughts on Live was so bad that the minor changes I see is a plus. At the end 2K will be the only one getting my money so I guess Live 14 isn't much competition.

This may not be the best Live it could've been considering the hardware they're working with but I'm glad it's coming out as well. I don't mind giving EA time to improve and get it right, assuming they'll actually stick with what they have and not scrap everything to start over like they did from NBA Live 10 to NBA Elite.

I have been a NBA live fan from day one but got to say 2K has taken the title of basket ball games. EA 4 years and it looks no different to NBA Live 08 lol. Im gonna get 2k14 for PS4.
Comes with it's own share of problems. Always online for most game modes. If the 2K servers are down (they were down for like 4 days this past weekend) your screwed. Wish I would have gotten Madden instead for my One.
Now I'm a pc believer. I have 2k15 on pc and LIKE it, don't love it. But it's been all we got on pc for years now. I just saw Live 2015 on this same kiddie console system and wow. This 2014 game is 1000 times better than 2015. Once again they regress and have the nerve to insult buyers. Just like they did to us pc players for years when EA Sports' Live was the only game on there. Regressing gameplay, regressing graphics, ai, etc. Or they get better in one respect and then purposely go backwards on another to balance it out. This game plays soo much better than 2015, smoother, smarter. The graphics even look better. Realistic shooting percentages as opposed to every time you drive inside on Live 15 and you score 99% of the time! This game is good man. I'd buy it and play it if it were on pc. I might even say it's as good or better than 2k15, but who knows. But what I do know is the new Live 15 is fucking garbage. This game is way better! Why do they keep doing this to their consumers? In picking up 2k14 for $25 bucks. First time I'm buying a 2k game, been a live fan since way back (live 05). But like we all know.. Live dropped the ball these last few years. Always strayed away from the 2k series cuse the graphics weren't my thing but this year they're too good.. Gameplay is also really good after borrowing it from a friend. Graphics aren't everything? What the hell do new consoles come out for? You can say all day it plays great but I am sure the PS3 and original Xbox 360 could have ran this with no problems (maybe even wii). Live is a beast of a basketball game it takes a lot of skill..the dribbling is super complex but once you start learning how to chain the moves together there is no stopping you...2k14 has waaaaaay to many canned animations for me yes the graphics are better but all around gameplay live 14 takes ut this year...2k14s gameplay is like a highlight reel..live 14 is like watching a actual game running plays are key on live 14.
Live compared to 2k Live has a better scoreboard (cus ESPN) and "slightly" better courts, though they are a little too glossy. Though the gameplay is slow, the individual player feetwork and leg movement is more realistic and better looking than 2k. Better halftime show. Better commentators, but the commentating dialogues suck. Shooting looks sucky. I feel as if the animations in between movements are too choppy, they need better transitions. The game isn't that bad. I hate EA but it isn't pathetic. Its not "pro evolution soccer" bad. But lets not forget that its horrible for a game they had 4 years on. But thats my opinion i'm probably off...

I've been playing NBA video games since live 09 and 2k9, and I've always thought 2k was more unrealistic in terms of movement (which is one of the most important thing in simulation games) ,with a feel of some computer generated clay figures "Floating" on the court, and NBALive has always got a more realistic footwork in comparison, that has never changed even in 2K14's NextGen
The "4 years on" is meaningless - 2K was working on their game for the last 4 years. It's not like EA just decided to take three years off. NBA Live 13 didn't ship - that means that basically for the last year EA's been working from a game that didn't even work on current-gen, while 2K was working from the best current-gen game. EA's basic goal was a game that was shippable - that's it.
I'm not sure why everybody is complaining so much. You all cannot stand this game because of the graphics... Well, NBA 2k14 has good graphics, but THE GAME ITSELF SUCKS. Their servers are horrible, and they rarely ever improve the game by releasing patches throughout the year. If NBA Live just fixes their graphics and other minor details, the game is fine. The difference between this game and NBA 2K14 is that this game is not good, but has plenty of potential to be good one day. Adam Aucoin I will say, the Sports Center like halftime show was a pretty good touch, but the commentary and graphics looked below average for a next gen game. But note, they've haven't put a game on the shelves for 4 years.
When I first bought the PS4 I picked up NBA Live 14 and regretted it almost righta way, ended up trading in Live 14 for NBA 2K14 and haven't looked back.
They focused on the dribbling this year and it looks like that will be better than 2K, graphics and passing need some work but 1st game in a few years so not bad, they can clearly fix those couple of things within a year and Live 15 should be amazing!
the only thing that is better about live to 2K is the style of the cover box, looks clean, and the soundtrack, thats about it. 2K made a 10/10 game this year on next gen also lol'd at the horrible review on IGN - 4.4

This may not be the best Live it could've been considering the hardware they're working with but I'm glad it's coming out as well. I don't mind giving EA time to improve and get it right, assuming they'll actually stick with what they have and not scrap everything to start over like they did from NBA Live 10 to NBA Elite.
I think Live should've came out last year to shake some rust off. They shouldn't have jumped straight to next gen considering they haven't made a game in years. I'll rent this just to see how their version of my player.

By tacking a shit load of fluff over an exact rehash of their aging engine with next to zero improvement (which is basically what they did with All Pro football)? 2K does good with the NBA but that doesn't mean they're the holy grail of sports games. Look no further than their NHL and MLB offerings for examples of that. EA is sucking with Madden but that doesn't make 2k the answer. What the NFL needs to do is find a NEW developer who can breath new life into football sims - Not that they'll ever do that since they see football games as little more than merchandise.

I have been a NBA live fan from day one but got to say 2K has taken the title of basket ball games. EA 4 years and it looks no different to NBA Live 08 lol. Im gonna get 2k14 for PS4.
Comes with it's own share of problems. Always online for most game modes. If the 2K servers are down (they were down for like 4 days this past weekend) your screwed. Wish I would have gotten Madden instead for my One.

Now I'm a pc believer. I have 2k15 on pc and LIKE it, don't love it. But it's been all we got on pc for years now. I just saw Live 2015 on this same kiddie console system and wow. This 2014 game is 1000 times better than 2015. Once again they regress and have the nerve to insult buyers. Just like they did to us pc players for years when EA Sports' Live was the only game on there. Regressing gameplay, regressing graphics, ai, etc. Or they get better in one respect and then purposely go backwards on another to balance it out. This game plays soo much better than 2015, smoother, smarter. The graphics even look better. Realistic shooting percentages as opposed to every time you drive inside on Live 15 and you score 99% of the time! This game is good man. I'd buy it and play it if it were on pc. I might even say it's as good or better than 2k15, but who knows. But what I do know is the new Live 15 is fucking garbage. This game is way better! Why do they keep doing this to their consumers? I wish we had both Live and NBA 2k on PC to make the choice for ourselves. Give us pc players more sports games! It's all I play :P

In picking up 2k14 for $25 bucks. First time I'm buying a 2k game, been a live fan since way back (live 05). But like we all know.. Live dropped the ball these last few years. Always strayed away from the 2k series cuse the graphics weren't my thing but this year they're too good.. Gameplay is also really good after borrowing it from a friend. If live makes a comeback I will be picking up their game no hesitation, but I'm a 2k fan as of now

I know you guys want to defend live because at one point you loved it, but you have to be a moron to think this game is good. This game looks like shit on top of shit or just plainly shit. Graphics aren't everything? What the hell do new consoles come out for? You can say all day it plays great but I am sure the PS3 and original Xbox 360 could have ran this with no problems (maybe even wii). I'm not riding 2k as some would say, but damn 2k14 on my ps4 looks good as hell; it confuses people as to whether it is a game or live tv and it plays great. Live on the other hand blows and I am trying to be unbiased but damn its a landslide in every aspect.

Live is a beast of a basketball game it takes a lot of skill..the dribbling is super complex but once you start learning how to chain the moves together there is no stopping you...2k14 has waaaaaay to many canned animations for me yes the graphics are better but all around gameplay live 14 takes ut this year...2k14s gameplay is like a highlight reel..live 14 is like watching a actual game running plays are key on live 14.
Live compared to 2k
Live has a better scoreboard (cus ESPN) and "slightly" better courts, though they are a little too glossy. Though the gameplay is slow, the individual player feetwork and leg movement is more realistic and better looking than 2k. Better halftime show. Better commentators, but the commentating dialogues suck. Shooting looks sucky. I feel as if the animations in between movements are too choppy, they need better transitions. The game isn't that bad. I hate EA but it isn't pathetic. Its not "pro evolution soccer" bad. But lets not forget that its horrible for a game they had 4 years on.
But thats my opinion i'm probably off...

I've been playing NBA video games since live 09 and 2k9, and I've always thought 2k was more unrealistic in terms of movement (which is one of the most important thing in simulation games) ,with a feel of some computer generated clay figures "Floating" on the court, and NBALive has always got a more realistic footwork in comparison, that has never changed even in 2K14's NextGen
The "4 years on" is meaningless - 2K was working on their game for the last 4 years. It's not like EA just decided to take three years off. NBA Live 13 didn't ship - that means that basically for the last year EA's been working from a game that didn't even work on current-gen, while 2K was working from the best current-gen game. EA's basic goal was a game that was shippable - that's it.

I'm not sure why everybody is complaining so much. You all cannot stand this game because of the graphics... Well, NBA 2k14 has good graphics, but THE GAME ITSELF SUCKS. Their servers are horrible, and they rarely ever improve the game by releasing patches throughout the year. If NBA Live just fixes their graphics and other minor details, the game is fine.
The difference between this game and NBA 2K14 is that this game is not good, but has plenty of potential to be good one day. NBA 2k14 is not good, but does not have the potential to get better in many people's views. There were countless amounts of errors on this year's game, even more than last year's! That's truly pathetic. NBA Live will work their asses off in making a good game to "catch up" and be as "good" as NBA 2k14. One day, this game very well may just be the top NBA game.

To me, definitly the halftime show and the ESPN introduction and the tv scoreboard is really really cool, i'm a NBA2K player so if NBA2K could have that would AMAZING.
People don't like to work and get good at games anymore one thing about 2k basketball you get control your in charge...You have to practice and learn moves to pull off in the game and you have to work to get better..One reason people liked NBA Live so much it's control friendly for users you don't have to work that hard to get good..I'm glad compitition is back all NBA Live is doing is making 2k basketball better i'm not buying NBA Live no way.

Graphics aren't really up to par but The developers have said to look for significant improvement in graphics and animations in the coming months.
The animations here look absolutely awful.... NBA 2K14 on prev gen has better animations and similar graphics to this...

When I first bought the PS4 I picked up NBA Live 14 and regretted it almost righta way, ended up trading in Live 14 for NBA 2K14 and haven't looked back.
Game looked real dude playing was ass so he said it was weak he got beat by 20 on pro
They focused on the dribbling this year and it looks like that will be better than 2K, graphics and passing need some work but 1st game in a few years so not bad, they can clearly fix those couple of things within a year and Live 15 should be amazing!

the only thing that is better about live to 2K is the style of the cover box, looks clean, and the soundtrack, thats about it. 2K made a 10/10 game this year on next gen

compare live 14 to 2k14 and you will see the huge difference in the way the game looks and plays. the rebounding, shooting, and way it plays just dont look real in live! looks like nba live 08. not even kidding
