Going to be heading up there with the kids soon for the first time. I've always explored the Sierras so time to try something new. Hopefully see you out there!
There is a group on Facebook called "Overlanding With Kids" that is going to Indian Valley Reservoir this coming weekend just in case you'd want to go: facebook.com/groups/overlandingwithkids
@@OverlandOutAndAbout oh right on, I requested to join the Facebook group! I was planning on a trip near strawberry just passed pinecrest but maybe I'll make it to IVR instead. Thanks!
If you end up going to the Strawberry area and want some company let me know. I might leave this Wed on a week long trip, but if I'm not, I'll be looking for something to do on the weekend.
Thank you for the trip, looks like a nice place to take the grandkids. You mentioned going on trips with you and that sounds like it would a nice time, I don not use Facebook is there another way to find out about what trips you have planed?
That's a good question. Many times my trips are not planned in advance, some time I'll just decide to go somewhere in a few days. Maybe try to message me every once in a while to see if I have a trip planned? . But the facebook page is still the best way to know. Also, I run a Facebook group called "Overlanding With Kids" and some folks from the group are in Indian Valley Reservoir this weekend.
Leaving Monday to go to Gold Lake 4X4 campground in Plumas Ntl forest for four days. Camping and fishing. 04 Toyota Tundra, GFC camper, 3 1/2" lift. Bilstein 6112's on the front, 5160s on the back. 33"s.. A 4WD/ high clearance only trail. Your van can do it. one and a half miles from the trail head, one and a half hours to the campsite. A ton of more trails beyond the camp. Serious stuff,
I’ve never been to IVR so thanks for the virtual tour. Hope to get there soon when it’s not too hot. The Megalodon is a hell of a rig. What a bunch of aholes though who leave trash there.
Help me out guys. If you’re in the area at the time stamp 17-20 seconds 4:55-5:00 minute mark and find a Toyota key fob with one key hit me up. Much appreciated.
Recently went here for the first time and it was awesome. Have you tried fishing the reservoir? Love the area but was surprised how many people dont pack out their trash:/
I don't fish, but people who do say that there are a bunch of good fishing there. And yes, it's really frustrating to see the trash that is left by some idiots.
@@OverlandOutAndAbout for sure i couldnt believe it, will you go back there soon? Looking for some good coordinates that are close to the lake. Keep up the awesome vids
I almost bought an adventure bike a year ago so I could ride to places like this. Couldn't decide between a KLR, KTM, BMW and even took 3 different Pan Americas for a test ride. Silky me last March ended up getting a new 900 lb Ultra Limited which is highly inappropriate for that kind of exploring. So were considering trading our '17 Forrester for a Outback Wilderness to go on these excursions.
I have a soft spot for GSs, I still have my 2014 BMW R1200GA Adventure, I just don't ride it anymore...I had a KLR before that. (At one point I had 7 motorcycles in my garage 🙂)
Hello new subscriber here. I live in Sacramento and often camp on the weekends in my ram pro master. Do you think my van can make it down there without airing down because I don’t own a compressor? It’s front wheel drive as well. But I do have the ability to controlthe gearing of the vehicle vehicles transmission.
You can definitely go to Indian valley without airing down and we 2wd (there is another video on my channel with 2 minivansvthere)...just don't go down to where I ended up camping, I don't think you'd be able to make it back up
No it's before clear lake , It's about 1/4 mile west of were hiway 16 Ts off of hiway 20 from Williams I-5 north of woodland. Take the exit if you pass the little creek you went to far . Stay left at the big intersection . In the flat area's staw away from the shore line atleast 25 ft you will sink into the ground its Like wet cement
It can get hot there during the summer, but it's not a big deal. I was there a couple of years ago at 113 degrees, but as long as I could put my chair in the water, and suck on an ice cold beer, I was gold.
@@OverlandOutAndAbout Thanks. I have a lifted (spacers) 2015 Ford Expedition with 33's and a set of Bilsteins. Does that sound like it should handle it?

Great video like always!! Must be nice to have the whole place to yourself rather than fighting people just to drive by
Thanks.
Yes it was great, I only saw one or two vehicles the whole time, and I could pick any camping spot.
Love your videos. I live in Lake County and love all the natural beauty!
Thank you!
Yea Lake County is nice for outdoor exploration.
That area is pretty nice. Your videos are always appreciated.
Thank you.
Yes it's great there...especially on weekdays when no one is there.
Great video, sweet ride! Thanks for sharing the coordinates. I love camping at Indian Valley Reservoir. Subscribed
Thank you.
Indian Valley Reservoir is one of my favourite places to explore and camp.
I was with my sons last weekend, and this place under the tree on the hill was occupied. But it was still a great weekend. Regards
On weekends IVR can get somewhat busy, but there is always a good campsite to be found.

I recognized your rig quick ! We met in Fremont at the off road meet organized by Swat Customs! Good to see you have the express van out there !! 🫡
I'm planing to be off-pavement as much as I can...let this beast prove it self 🙂
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍67

Man that water keeps getting higher and higher. Great video as always. Maybe we should get a group together and do a trash pick up overland trip
That's not a bad idea.

I love that place. I've camped there in the snow.
Did some great trout fishing in that water hole.
Nice...there supposed to be some good fishing in Indiana Valley Reservoir

Yes, IVR is great, especially on weekdays...and it's a shame that some people behave like the trash they leave behind.
I’m right there with you brother. Camp there many a time, but the trash other idiots leave is messed up.
I really don't understand those people...what is so hard about taking with you what you brought in.
Dude! My parents live .25 mile from the rig super cool build
Nice...small world 🙂

I was there about 6 months ago for three days it rained for three days it was Awsome.
LOL
I always enjoy visiting Indian Valley Reservoir.
Nice spot! Can a rwd 4runner make it on all the trails there?
Yes...other than the camping spot (I don't think you'll be able to climb up without 4wd)

Love indian valley is my favorite high dessert , i wish the dirt bags would stay away from it tho.
Yea, how difficult it is to take your own trash out.
Which Indian Valley is this? Is this the one near Grass Valley?
Indian Valley Reservoir is North/East of Clear Lake
it is in lake county CA.
No it's before clear lake ,
It's about 1/4 mile west of were hiway 16 Ts off of hiway 20 from Williams I-5 north of woodland.
Take the exit if you pass the little creek you went to far .

No, it's near Clear lake ca
I liked your science experiment. 😂
It's hard work, but someone has to do it.
Is this area very hot daytime in the Summer?
It can get hot there during the summer, but it's not a big deal. I was there a couple of years ago at 113 degrees, but as long as I could put my chair in the water, and suck on an ice cold beer, I was gold.
Yes, summertime temp hover between 107 to 110
Right, a few years ago I spent 3 days there in 113
Is this place typically very crowded?
It can be crowded on the weekends, on weekdays it's empty.
@@OverlandOutAndAbout Thanks. I have a lifted (spacers) 2015 Ford Expedition with 33's and a set of Bilsteins. Does that sound like it should handle it?
Absolutely... everything I did in this video can be done with a stock 4wd.
Great spot! Too bad it's littered...
Yes, some people just don't have enough brain to go outdoors.
So pick it up. You should see the trash in Mexico. No comparison.
“7-11 minutes of joy” 😂
That's right, I need a bit more than just a couple of cold ones.
