I am not a musician... I found out that I Like that sound so much that I bought a bass and found a teacher! What is stopping you? If you are into it you can Always become a musician!
That’s great! You should pick up a bass, even doing root notes sound great when playing along with songs. A very accessible instrument. Good to learn groove.
Awesome job! Im a huge Green Day fan and a bass player as well, If my band ever wants to cover one of these songs, your videos would help tremendously! Keep up the good work
Aquí va un comentario en Español. Soy fan de Green Day desde hace 20 años y tu sonido de bajo es exactamente al de Mike. Tocas muy bien. Felicidades dude. Saludos desde Guadalajara, México !!!
Nice tone and feel, man! I've checked the other videos and you are on the way! Just a tip: sometimes (and also in this song) you can use the open "A" to get a better dynamic when fingering.
Thank you for the suggestion! It would be very useful on this rather agressive song but I totally forgot about it. The fretted A gives me more bass so I tend to use that more. But you're right I'll take that in mind on future uploads thanks!
I play bass for a band called sweatpants, you can find us on ig @sweatpantsofficial. I strive for your bass tone, I play the exact bass you have just in a different color and I always try to get near as I can to your tone. In fact when we were mixing our album and we focused on the bass and they asked what sound I wanted I pulled up your cover of Stuart and the ave and said “his tone”. Regardless love your work please keep it up
That's wicked to hear man, thanks! I checked out your band and you guys have some solid work. I really envy you haha, you guys seem like a bunch of friends having a good time making music. I've been in a cool country band for some time but broke up. The people here don't like punk rock at all; I am still searching, time will tell. Good luck with Sweatpants man, rock on.
Haha I don't know, perhaps I am not doing frequent uploads. I'll never ask to subscribe.. people will figure out themselves. But I am already amazed with 1100 now!
Quick tip for you, move around more, 'feel' the song and dance n stuff to it. I've played live before and on my first few songs, my band just stood there and showed no emotion and people thought we played well but were boring. So after a few performances, we decided to jump around, like Mike does. You're a great bass player but need to look more exciting when you play, it works
Thank you for the suggestion! When I use a pick I am indeed focused (too much) on what I play so I don't move around a lot. I guess it doesn't feel that natural yet. Finger style is actually the main thing I do with my band. I love Green Day though and they don't so I'll practise the stuff on my own here. Doing this in front of the camera is a serious workout when stuff doesn't feel so natural yet. You're absolutely right though but currently I'm still developing a feel for pick playing :D
I hope you don't mind me asking this but what's the story behind your 2 Mike Dirnt basses? Like when did you buy them and was the price the same as it sells for today? Other than that, not a single cover of yours wears and bores me out! Keep goin man, can't wait to hear more from you!! Also do you have Instagram?
Hey! I have had various mike dirnt basses, all Fenders. Most of them I got rid of quite quickly because they weigh a lot. Then I got this one which weighs 3.8 KG; extremely light but very well balanced. It has been my main bass since 2017. Price wise I think these are way too expensive for being mexican made basses. But they play and feel like custom shop if you get lucky. Because electronics are superb; pickups have a massive sound, but that’s my opinion. The polyester laquer basses are a lot cheaper than the roadworn but the electronics are the same. Roadworns have the better look. The wear patch you see on mine; I did that myself. The light roadworn from the factory is already overshadowed by my own marks from 5 years of use. I like that a lot.
That bass tone!!!
I've watched this like a dozen times... as a non-musician, this is amazing to me... I like the part right after the vocal word "stride".

Please do "16" from their first album
October :D
Great cover man! Love the Dirnt rw bass, how you like it? Does the finish scratch easy?
Thanks! Love it; all my favorite specs are in it... not just for Green Day stuff. it does scratch because of the nitrocellulose lacquer.
what a fucking tone man! So similar man. I mean this it .
Thanks!
what amp do you use?...by the way AWSOME PLAYING!!
Thanks! sorry for the late response, I use a Bassman 500.
Do you use the push/pull knobs on the lows and highs?
I do use the bass pull sometimes, I am sure it is enabled on this video. I am not a fan of the treble push, it sounds too harsh on my ears.
Tone is A1
Thanks!
Fat tone you got going on brother 🤘🏼
Thanks man!
You beat the shit out! ;) nice i like it 👌
Thanks man!
Epic tone
Thanks!

Is it me or do Bass players have very long fingers?
It does help out a lot haha
it’s true lmao. i play bass and my fingers are freaking long
Bruh im not even allowed by my parent to buy an expensive bass, BUT U HAVE 2 OF THEM its kinda 1000 dollar bruh
Ahh.. yeah. They're not cheap, but I reckon you'd get the same sound with any other P bass. I am just really fond of the specs on these Dirnt basses.
