any reasoning behind installing said spacer? i have an 18 hatch with BNR and curious about the spacer. also thanks for the vid on how to remove the throttle body, been meaning to remove mine to clean thorough
The throttle body spacer is supposed to change the airflow into the intake manifold. It is supposed to increase fuel economy (which I dont really care to much about) and increase torque and horsepower. There is change in torque and power, but it is very little change. You can tell a slight difference in power after installation but its not mind blowing or anything. But BNR is working on my tune right now, so hopefully the spacer wasnt a huge waste of money and hopefully the tune can utilize the spacer more.
@@seangowan7441 uhm, I dont know about the fuel economy. I ended up getting the car "performance tuned" by BNR with the HPtuners interface. But my fuel economy is almost half of what it used to get. Right now I get around 26mpg, before I did any mods, I could get around 40 for a average, but my best is 52mpg. I also have a lead foot and a 6 spd manual tranny.
not at all. I didnt tune my car for any of the mods i did. The tune was just an extra thing I wanted. I did, cold air intake, throttle body spacer and Magnaflow cat back performance exhaust. All without a tune.
@@painkiller2558 Thanks for the info! I have a 17 hatch and I plan doing almost the same thing just without tune and add suspension and wheels, won’t be fast, but should be a pretty fun little go cart when I’m done lol
@@seangowan7441 I didnt use any loctite, the factory bolts didnt have any on them and the ones that BNR sent did not have any. But blue loctite might not be a bad idea. I havent had any issues with them coming loose or anything though.
Looks like you're throttle body needs a good cleaning and relearning. Great video on the spacer install.

Also the spacer has those holes for the ability to tap in something like a boost gauge or nitrous if the occasion rises 😜
@@painkiller2558 Fuel economy improved? By how much?

@@painkiller2558 TB spacer isn’t really for hp gains, yes there’s technically more airflow but it’s really just for a boost gauge tap/nitrous/meth
Just a heads up ports go towards the front not the rear
it is the same size for malibu 2013
where did you buy the spacer
BNR website

Do u actually drive with the cover off for ur engine
no, I do not.
Do you need a tune for just the spacer?

Should I install this on a cold engine?
yea, I would. especially since its summer time and working over a hot engine will just make it worse. It would definitely make it easier.

Those are bolts not screws
