Sometimes, people forget the monumental impact of the double century in Adelaide by Mr. Rahul Dravid on Indian cricket. Thanks for highlighting this Mr. Harsha.
No one forgot that... It won the best performance in cricinfo recently beating pant 87 and Sachin's 241 so I every one values Rahul knock more than anything

This could be the right moment for India to establish a new opening partnership with a vision for the next five years. Many teams struggle in Test cricket when their openers leave, but India has the opportunity to handle this transition smoothly. Although it may seem unfair to Rohit, he would probably be willing to bat lower in the order, prioritizing the team’s interest over personal preferences.
Then let's start thinking about number 4 as well. It is the most important position in test. Let's start grooming someone new. It Rohit is leaving his position then why not kohli. He is way below in test as per no. 4 standard
Sarfaraz Khan is the ideal successor to Virat Kohli at No. 4. Even if he doesn’t get a chance in every game now, he will remain in the system. When Virat retires, Sarfaraz will likely hold the No. 4 position for next several years. If Rohit bats at No. 6, he will continue there until retirement, with Jurel potentially taking over. India has strong backups for Jadeja and Ashwin in Axar and Washington Sundar. Overall, India’s Test team looks solid for the coming years.
@@shajijames yep my question is why to hamper Rohit position if you can't force kohli. One series here there can be for anyone but shouldn't be forgot he is your best batsman in last 5 year. Let him play as opener till he is playing or atleast for this series
@@akkumishra307 - If you consider it from the management’s perspective, you’re not going to drop Rohit and Virat. Given this scenario, what would be in the best interest? Rohit has proven to be flexible, batting both at the opening position and at No. 6. He averages 44 from 42 innings as an opener and 54 from 16 innings at No. 6. So, they have a valid reason to let Rohit bat at No. 6. Virat’s best position is at No. 4, and he’s not performing badly either.
@@akkumishra307Don’t bring Rohit Virat controversy in every discussion. There is no need to entertain such thoughts. @4:00 "What IF .."??? Why complicate a simple decision with hypothetical scenarios? KL Rahul has been exceptional as an opener, showing great form and chemistry with Jaiswal. In contrast, Rohit Sharma has struggled at the top, as seen in the New Zealand series and the Australia PM XI game, where his lack of confidence was evident. Forcing Rohit to open now could unsettle him and disrupt the stability KL Rahul has brought to the position. Let’s stick to what’s working rather than overthinking it.
I completely agree with you. If Rohit comes to open in all remaining matches and if India looses the series, it would be unfortunately sad ending of Rohit Sharma. Media and fans go crazy about it. It’s better if he keeps successful team combination undisturbed for the rest of the matches.
In my opinion, KL should open throughout the BGT, while Rohit should continue at the same position where KL plays. Gill can move to number 3 keeping their roles consistent.
Shane did say he sees Sachin in his nightmarea hitting him for a six around the wicket. Appreciation and being a fan of a player does not make you less competitive or motivated.
We can't and should not underestimate AUS. I just hope we just can find a way to win Adelaide, it is going to be very difficult but we should take it session by session, day by day.
Border & Gavaskar are the batting legends but the first day at Perth was death sentence for batsmen with so much help for pacers as expected. India was heading for another collapse and Aussies also followed. Cricket is a funny game and was made funnier the way Perth wicket played over the 4 days. A test match destined to finish in 2 days was taken to 4 days which sponsors would like for sure. Looks like one can take a pitch out of his kit bag and drop-in to start playing. There seemed to be grass carpet laid without any roots which quickly died down to make a batting track. You can easily see the grass carpet patches we put in our lawns/gardens. The experience of playing for Indians against the same Aussie bowlers in the IPL and also in the last two series in Australia also went a long way. KL despite being under criticism, better survived against the Aussies bowlers due to the same reason and also the pitch eased up (like previous two tours) a lot to keep him safe. Jurel was unlucky though, with all the hype after outplaying KL in the warmup game. Bumrah was also unlucky as 2nd innings track took him out of attack after initial burst due to which he was denied his first 10-fer in tests which he could have got on the original Perth wicket. Both Kohli and Jaiswal had a huge advantage due to pitch behavior change pulling a 3 digit score after getting the single digit one on the original express Perth track in the first innings. Specially, for under fire Kohli it was a blessing who could get a 100 after all. Despite all that “Reddy is ready” and all of us want more of him. Pant was also deceived by the change of pace and had no clue in the 2nd innings where he got out cheaply. There has been a question about where Rohit should bat in Adelaide test and in my opinion is he can bat at No. 12. This is in line with the type of shows he has pitched over some time now. Mother nature and his own “spot on” family planning saved the Hitman from that 1st day horrible pacers paradise in Perth but he should feel unlucky that the same track turns yellow hay in no time to offer easy run making. This has made KL and Kohli relevant once again while Rohit is having a hard time fitting in on his return. Off course as Kohli fan, we all want to hear that King is back in form to score 5 centuries. Keeping in view the reluctance of Aussies to make their bowling attack more effective, we can feel that happening as after the initial burst Starc becomes ineffective. The Indian batsmen play out time and then Pant capitalizes on it. Also, Abbot has been ordinary at the best and I can’t recall him troubling the oppositions. Bowlers who faced India “A” were handful and might get going. Poor Sarfraz and Jurel are in the same boat, later one due the fact that he made two exciting scores before the Perth test but could not replicate the same in the Perth test but still fans want to see him. Sarfraz has to do whatever to get a game. He got a game when KL/Rohit/King Kohli (KK) were sliding, scored a 150 but then no more chances and no chance of a chance whatever.
Dont know why we are overboard that we have defeated Australia, its only one match there are still 4 matches to go. Australia are still a quality side, they are playing at home, we dont need to be complacent otherwise it will be a problem.
Australia very carefully designed the match schedule and it is true if they lose Adelaide test then it will take India confidence to sky high and will somewhere create a dent in Australian side that winning a series from there on will be next to impossible.

Just hope Virat does not get overconfident or complacent after the century in Perth because he has earned this little phase of 10 days(where there has been absolutely no noise around his form, his place in the team and his future in test cricket anymore) after a long time so when he comes out to bat in first innings in Adelaide, he would be under no pressure but he will certainly have to play first half an hour to 45 minutes really carefully without any complacency.

It's not about whether Rohit is undercooked. Rahul navigated a very difficult pitch and saw out the new ball in both innings in Perth. I wouldn't mess with that opening pair at this stage.
ROHIT SHARMA SHOULD BAT AT 5 SIR. BECAUSE ROHIT SHARMA IS NOT IN FORM PRESENTLY. AT THE SAME TIME KL RAHUL DID A GREAT JOB AS AN OPENER WITH YASHASVI JAISWAL. TEAM SHOULD NOT CHANGE THE WINNING MOMENTUM.
Rohit unlikely to score as a opener. But Rohit has to decide about opening. Rohit is playing test match like a T20 game. Hence flamboyance will be back at a risk.
Rohit will be a sitting duck as an opener against the new pink ball. He should go down at no 5 in my opinion which would suit him. Old ball, flatter pitch, tired bowlers. He could go after the bowlers like he does right away and get some quick runs with pant.
It's all about the market load. Despite Hazelwood unavailable and Australia down after India's Perth glory I still believe that Australia will triumph over the Adelaide oval. Remember they never lose the pink ball test till now. Indians are on cloud nine but soon the flight will crash in twilight.
0:23 I am sorry to not consent in this particular ground/ fav./history connects to the ground stories Harsha , because on one side it fills you with great interest and hope in towards match , on other side it also give you overconfident euphoria which previously led our team into complete dismantling ( knockout games and home test series loss vs NZ)😢
Ashwin has got to play. The pink ball does turn a bit in Adelaide (ask Lyon). With Reddy batting well I see no reason why he can't play number 7 and ash come at number 8. This bowling attack is still raw. Rana is just one test old. We need Ashwin so that Bumrah has some good solid support from experience
Just because Lyon can spin there doesn't mean Ashwin will get it too. Lyon gives way more revolutions to the ball than Chuckwin. Lyon is a much better spinner overall in Australia
At no.8 Ashwin is a walking wicket in SENA conditions 😉. He can hold a bat& block but no. 8 needs to do bit more than that especially in SENA that too with pink ball 😅
@@Rising._.Thunder umm would you care to check the scorecard for Adelaide pink ball test match in 2020???? Lyon was poor. Ashwin took 4 wickets in the first innings including that or Green, Head and Smith. How is he not a first choice for this test match ?
3:04 is it harsha ?...i mean permutations is arrangement right and combination is selection rt ? since its a question of who will be selected it should be "combination " I hope
Combination - means selection, whom to pick? Padikkal or Gill? Rahul or Jurel? Permutations - arrangement(here batting order) Who will open Rahul or Rohit? No 3 - Gill or RAHUL
Rohith is suspect against genuine swing / fast bowling with lateral movement. He tries to hit out in white ball formats which sometimes pays off , but in red ball cricket he will be found out. In other words Rohith, the test opening batsman is puny compared to the white ball giant he is. Given the current form, given the conditions ( pink ball and match starts late ) he should be shielded from new ball , and should play down the order at 6 when ( hopefully) best batting conditions are available. This is man management and utilizing resources well, not getting worried about bruised egos. Rahul is more a classic batsman who thrives when he does not need to score at brisk pace , and has relatively tight defense. He should open the batting with flamboyant and prodigious Jaiswal.
why people are sugarcoating the position of Rohit, clearly he should bat down the order considering future rohit might play 1-2 year max and its best chance to create solid opening line now and backing Rahul will help in long run.
Aussies are scared and they will play much better this time, but how India does is the question in this match… want a tough fight for good entertainment
It will be 1-1 . I think it's Australia not any small fish . You know. They clutch moments. There had been chances of a catch a couple of runouts. If anything would have been converted India might have been 100-150 runs short. And suddenly a target of 300 odd runs would not look as threatening as 500 in that pitch that actually had flatten out . Its the mindset of the teams that will make the difference in this series.
India wins the toss: Rohit bats in the daylight. Australia wins the toss: Rahul bats first. Regarding respect, it doesn't happen overnight. It takes a very long time. Sometimes generations and centuries.
If kl plays surely he should open for full utilization of his potential otherwise its won't click Kl is a bonafide opener for test which is a specialist role rohit should go down and try an play the role ganguly did in tests
Ashwin will be key player- as he gives slow flight and dusara if he get chance to play . Batsman who plays on backfoot with light hand will get more success because pitch is bouncy and fast .
I think Ind should be careful of being overconfident. Aus could have just been rusty at Perth having not played test cricket since beginning of the year. But if Ind can somehow get one over them, then I do think the series will be ours. I remember that Ind was on top in the last pink ball test before the calamitous 36 all out. I would still say Aus are favs for a pink ball test, but not overwhelmingly so.
Unfortunately all Indian commentators r biased..even if we r losing or playing badly, they will praise our bowlers and batsmen.. Best example recent ind nz series..where we were losing test after test to pathetic spinners like azaz, phillips n still praising our batsmen..😂 crazyyyyy ..we treated nz spin bowlers like legendary Shane Warne and Murali...
Sir, I think KL will be the Opener and Rohit will play at No.5. Also, Do you think Ashwin will play ahead of Washington based on Ashwin's record in Adelaide and Pink Ball Tests?
KL opens, Rohit middle order, Gill at 3 & Ashwin in place of Sundar, purely because of the number of left handers in the Aussie side. Adelaide is a much docile pitch than Perth. Need more from the spinner rather than more batting options.
India can't afford much changes barring Rohit Sharma's. inclusion in the final eleven. It is time for Jadeja to return India as there is hardly any role left for him
If Rohit Sharma is only good for those fast scoring innings, 30 ball 40, then he should bat in the middle order. We need players who could bat for 100 balls at the top. Bat for 90 overs & Aussies shoulders will drop.
The Aussies play mind games. They want to make India believe they have already won BGT. Why over amplify an opposition when the series is on. Makes no sense
Mr. Harsha Bhogle, I Loved what you analyzed on both sides👍. But please please do not normalize Aussie behavior by saying "un-Australian". With great difficulty, the Aussies are coming to terms and behaving like adults and not like "temper-tantrum" throwing kids that they used to be in the 90s and early 2000s. For a long time, they have crossed their limits in the spirit of the great game to unfairly win over the opposition. Look at West Indies in their glorious days. The batsmen walked their talk with their bats, not through mouth. The bowlers walked their talk with their bowling and not through mouth. And here we are! It amazes me to see mainstream journalists talking to ex cricketers asking "why didn't the Aussies sledge the Indians more?". Maybe I am a classic-cricket purist but this institutional sledging and naming it "Australian way" is incorrect. So, it is time that Aussies learned the fine art of domination through performance and not through negative mind-games or through sledging. Banter is always fun but limit is where most players, including some Indian players, lose it.
Let rahul open because rohit is not playing slowly even rahul don't score any run but if he plays 50+balls it's more than 50+ runs because batting is tough only first 15-20 overs then virat and rahul can capitalize there
Harsha, you're argument should be reversed. You should be asking... in the best interest of team India, who at the moment is better "prepared" to open?. This is not even a debate, KL looks more settled and assured at the crease, with runs under his belt to boot and Rohit has not only been undercooked but has had a run of low scores as opener even while opening in India and that too losing his wicket time and again to seamers not even spinners... So there you go... KL opens and Rohit bats at 5 or 6 and in these conditions, Rohit's recent sustained aggressive mindset at the crease, can actually benefit India in moving the game ahead decisively playing the older ball.....I think the decision is fairly obvious.
Rohit Sharma in test cricket is a walking wicket, especially in foreign conditions. Its better to play him in the middle order with a relatively older ball.
Harsha, settle down. Australia is not going soft or whatever you think. Travis Head mentioned that about Bumrah because he is a once in a generation bowler! Other AUS captains have never said this because there has never been a stand out bowler in the opposition. Respect is mentioned where its due! Dont criticize it!
If Rohit opens, he will definitely fail and put pressure on the middle order. This is cause of loosing New Zealand series. He failed each and every innings.
If someone giving gyaan on Rohit should leave opening position and preparing future should also look for kohli position as well Not doing good enough in test in last 5 year

AT THE SAME TIME KL RAHUL DID A GREAT JOB AS AN OPENER WITH YASHASVI JAISWAL.
TEAM SHOULD NOT CHANGE THE WINNING MOMENTUM.
I think Rohit should bat at 5, and when he retires dhruv Jurel could be a straight swap.
You are masterclass ❤
Mitch Marsh had bowled 17 overs in Perth taking 3 wickets. Why do you think he won’t bowl in Adelaide as a fifth bowler?
Rohit unlikely to score as a opener. But Rohit has to decide about opening. Rohit is playing test match like a T20 game. Hence flamboyance will be back at a risk.
This Test will end in Three days ,5-0 Third Class Australian Team
Rohit will be a sitting duck as an opener against the new pink ball. He should go down at no 5 in my opinion which would suit him. Old ball, flatter pitch, tired bowlers. He could go after the bowlers like he does right away and get some quick runs with pant.
It's all about the market load. Despite Hazelwood unavailable and Australia down after India's Perth glory I still believe that Australia will triumph over the Adelaide oval. Remember they never lose the pink ball test till now. Indians are on cloud nine but soon the flight will crash in twilight.
Voice of cricket ❤
0:23 I am sorry to not consent in this particular ground/ fav./history connects to the ground stories Harsha , because on one side it fills you with great interest and hope in towards match , on other side it also give you overconfident euphoria which previously led our team into complete dismantling ( knockout games and home test series loss vs NZ)😢
Rahul, Jaiswal, Gill , kohli,pant, Rohit, NkR , sundar/ ashwin, bumrah,siraj, rana
Rahul should open and Rohit with not too many years (err.. months) should bat at 11. The last thing India wants is Rohit opening and a 0/1 score.
Considering Rohit’s age and long term plan for Indian test cricket - K L should open and Gill should bat at 3. Rohit may bat at 5/6
Ashwin has got to play.
@RohliSKYVirma-cr9uy you underestimate his batting. He played some crucial innings in Melbourne last series.
@@Rising._.Thunder umm would you care to check the scorecard for Adelaide pink ball test match in 2020???? Lyon was poor. Ashwin took 4 wickets in the first innings including that or Green, Head and Smith. How is he not a first choice for this test match ?
Would you prefer Washington or Jadeja ??? I too have this dilemma! Comment your preference plzz...
Washington better than jadeja, it's a no brainer

Make Aussies feel despondent, this is exactly the half win..
why people are sugarcoating the position of Rohit, clearly he should bat down the order considering future rohit might play 1-2 year max and its best chance to create solid opening line now and backing Rahul will help in long run.
Maybe sport is breaching barriers,,, regarding the Unaustralian way of taking to this beautiful game...
India wins the toss: Rohit bats in the daylight.
Australia wins the toss: Rahul bats first.
Regarding respect, it doesn't happen overnight. It takes a very long time. Sometimes generations and centuries.
If kl plays surely he should open for full utilization of his potential otherwise its won't click
Kl is a bonafide opener for test which is a specialist role rohit should go down and try an play the role ganguly did in tests
I do feel Australia are favourites for this test just because it is pink ball but I still do see India winning the series..bring it on Aussies🙂
What happened to shami? Why he not going? He bowled well in ranji game...
We would have won the last series down under 4-0, but only for that 36 all out. We had 50 odd run lead.
Harsha❤
Sir, I think KL will be the Opener and Rohit will play at No.5. Also, Do you think Ashwin will play ahead of Washington based on Ashwin's record in Adelaide and Pink Ball Tests?
KL opens, Rohit middle order, Gill at 3 & Ashwin in place of Sundar, purely because of the number of left handers in the Aussie side. Adelaide is a much docile pitch than Perth. Need more from the spinner rather than more batting options.
India can't afford much changes barring Rohit Sharma's. inclusion in the final eleven. It is time for Jadeja to return India as there is hardly any role left for him
Well put Harsha.. favorites mean nothing in the recent few weeks...
If Rohit Sharma is only good for those fast scoring innings, 30 ball 40, then he should bat in the middle order. We need players who could bat for 100 balls at the top. Bat for 90 overs & Aussies shoulders will drop.
Harsha... seeing the dryness of this pitch..can we see ashwin in for Rana..and what about KL's batting order
Who win this test match?
Simple answer, its because of the IPL that the Aussies have toned down their behaviour, money talks!
Australia will win series 4-1
Harsha is paid commentator by Indian team to speak positive about them
I think they want India to think that Australia is spooked in the head. The clue is that they let Head to say it.
Rahul has to bat at 3. For the next few years atleast
Let rahul open because rohit is not playing slowly even rahul don't score any run but if he plays 50+balls it's more than 50+ runs because batting is tough only first 15-20 overs then virat and rahul can capitalize there
You are right,Sir! Rohit should open.He should not be demoted. It is absurd to suggestthat Rahul to replace him with just one test.
Its better to play him in the middle order with a relatively older ball.
can India reach WTC final if they win against Australia 3-2 ?
No they need to win 4-1
Very nice.
Warne said sachin use to bash me in dreams 6:59
If Rohit opens, he will definitely fail and put pressure on the middle order. This is cause of loosing New Zealand series. He failed each and every innings.
If someone giving gyaan on Rohit should leave opening position and preparing future should also look for kohli position as well
Not doing good enough in test in last 5 year
Typical Aussie mind games, hyping Bumrah to take the focus off their own game. Nice try, but Bumrah’s too smart for this!
Rohit is going to retire after wtc, so let Rahul and Jaiswal open this series and continue to open beyond Rohit's stint
The best

Aussies know how to turn around. So it still Australia 3 -1
Harsha has all the ingredients to be a Richie but he tries to be Ravi Shashtri.
Why should Kl Rahul should always adjust?

India are not favourites according to WinWiz. Let's see what happens
