The prisoner release lead to the Taliban retaking control over every village, town, and city before the election in 2020. Another veteran here in full agreement with the OP. Military services seem to be very top heavy with officers and bureaucrats. The process we see here is known as Congressional oversight. Just because one party is in control doesn’t mean that there’s a rubber stamp for every nominee.
