"The person you are speaking to will wait for you, if they don't - they are assholes, not worth speaking to" i love it ! hahaha
In school, English was unfortunately mostly about vocabulary or grammar quizzes, with little room for actual conversations, as we had to follow the Ministry of Education’s plan. By the time I finished high school and went to a job interview, I couldn’t even introduce myself in English.
Thankfully, after some time at work, they organized weekly 1.5-hour lessons with a native speaker. This really helped me open up since he was incredibly friendly and supportive whenever I didn’t know what to say.
A while later, I started playing World of Warcraft, where I met all kinds of people from different countries-including from England with their accents-but I managed just fine!
Today, I live with a Czech partner, and we speak English together every day. When I travel abroad, I don’t have to worry about communication anymore. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown in this area, even if I still sometimes say things a little off. "But hey, it’s my second language!"
