LYRICS:
Time has been lost in trying
We have been left outside
Looking at passion dying
Emotions grow strong or tired
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
They might have said we're lying
No matter how hard we try
Those who have watched us crying
Can figure how love has died
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
Time has been lost in trying
We have been left outside
Looking at passion dying
Emotions grow strong or tired
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
But it's alright, we can still go on
I'm 70 yr old and heard this cut on TV for the first time in my life. THE SOUND WAS BEAUTIFUL. I've got to add it to my collection. All praises are due!!!
it sounded so familiar but that commercial got me to shazam it - jam is infectious.
agree! it's a very unique tune !
What took you so long
From 1972 to 2023 this song has held up quite nicely do the math that's 51 years..let's keep it strong for another 51
Happy 50th Hip Hop ! This was the warm up to a Kool DJ Herc Party with Coke la Rock on the mike ! True story raised where it all began..Boogie Down Bronx! Shoutout to 1520 Sedgwick Avenue the Birth place of HIP HOP!
This was the jam from the 70s that has been mixed into infinity. So nice to take a dance down memory lane.
They are touring this year! Can't believe it
And i saw them in Paris Dude ❤
@@MoonThe82
And I missed them ?!
I'll have to put the volume up and dance my troubles away...
Still a Banger in 2023
I remember listening to my big brother’s Cymandie album back in the early 70’s when he wasn’t home. He would have kicked my butt if he knew I was messing with his albums. Now almost 50 years later we listen to this music together and recall the awesome memories of those days!
Those truly were the days...
Love this.
I heard this song for the first time in my life in a Spike Lee Film " The 25 hour " .
This is one of the classic break beats. The origin of rap and its evolution. You see it all started with the break beats then came the MC. The South Bronx NYC. I did it in them parks 💯
I heard this for the first time in The 25th Hour.
Spike Lee is not only a legendary filmmaker but he also has a great musical taste! 😎🌟
Agreed!
Great movie and song.
Happy that these brothers out of London are still holding it down after so many years. Even my granddaughter is jamming to them now in this time and space. Big ups to them 👏 Love and light 💙 💛
This horn section is killin it
I can’t believe that they’re using this song in CarGurus commercials on tv in 2023. I felt like Cymande was an awesome secret I shared with everyone who was willing to listen for the last 30 years since I discovered this album in Camelot music.
I was listening to this group when I was in school in Buffalo New York in the '70s... And I too was very surprised to hear them on a commercial for CarGurus.?!!..Cymande They are truly truly classic (scientists of sound rhythmatically getting down) brings me back to the days when music was music. Each instrument you hear someone is playing it!! There's no computer generated music here. These are professionals!!!... Craftsman!!!
I just heard this song played on a commercial for Car Gurus. I called my girlfriend and we both heard and started thinking of back in the day when we used to dance to this song. At first I thought it was Osibisa. I played the commercial for her and her brother’s phone tracked it to Cymande using a Google feature. We weren’t going to rest until we found out the name of the artist. We already knew the song. OLD SCHOOL IN THE HOUSE FOREVER!!!
That commercial bought me here. Loved this song back in the day and it was pretty popular in the black clubs!
@@rickwilliams3757 OLD SCHOOL MUSIC!!! Everyone were musicians. Real music played by real artists. ❤️
Same here. I couldn't remember the artist, so I used Shazam to find it. I used to party to this song back in the day!!! 😍
OMG, I heard this in the CG commercial and it took me back to the 70's - my HS years. So nice to hear it again!
I used to wake up to this tune for a year or so. Love it still
Remembering the late night campus parties of the late 70's! The hustle, washin' machine...wait, y'all know nothing about those dances 😅...we jammed until the break of dawn! Oh those fun lovin' college days...ya had to be there 😂😊❤
WE GOING TO BE ALRIGHT!
CAN not get enough of these trumpet
A joint that will never get old!!!!¡
They do what they do! The funny thing is all the commercials are using the music WE put up to promote sales. Nice to expose the young to this dope piece! Thanks, sis for exposing me as buck way back when.
Actually i'm glad Cargurus or however the commercial is for. I had forgotten about this classic until i had the opening beat. I said to myself i know that song. Then it hit me . "Bra " couldn't remember by who. But i knew i could find it. Sure nough here it was . I used to party big time off this jam in the 70's. Loved it then and still love it!
You know these Millennials and GenZ are 21st century boomers, recycling our stuff - music, fashion, art. Shhh ... don't tell 'em! Just enjoy the ride!!
The break beat on this song was was a staple in early Hip Hop mixtapes in the 70’s & 80’s
WOW that commercial brought bad a flood of memories. I was living in Colorado Springs thinking I was so cool 😅😅😅😅 just a kid on my own and loving it 😊😊
My band The 3rd Power from Newark NJ played this song 1973 and this classic is still rocking the dance floor in 2023!!💥👌
Phase ll , the band I played with in the 70’s played this song along with Mandrill , Brass Construction , big horn section songs …..
I was trying to remember how I heard this back in the 70’s & I think it was either Mandrill or Brass Construction.
Thanks for refreshing my old memories.
I thought it was Osibisa when I first heard the commercial. My Bronx NY sis homegirl and I use to jam off this back in the day. Our day, the 70’s. Her brother found out it was Cymande. My sis homegirl and I both heard it on Super Bowl commercial for car Gurus. We knew this song as soon as we heard it. Old School is here to stay!
Wow! That was the best tunes to the Bump. Remember when a senior returned from Baltimore from on of those exchange programms and brought all that stuff. How blessed we have been to have had all those times.
@@kofioppong3890 the best of times. Are you from Ghana? I work with a guy from Ghana and his name is Kofi. The two character actors Ralph Angel on Queen Sugar and Lamar on BMF are both named Kofi and are from Ghana and/or Ghana descent. Love that name.
The jawn cymande still jamming in 2023
The guitar riffs are nice… gonna learn them tomorrow….Had to use Google to search for the name of this song after hearing it on a tv car commercial. What was I doing in 1977? Joined the Army and stationed at Ft Jackson SC. 26 years later retired in 2003 after service in Iraq.
Brings back great memories!!!
Now how the heck did i allow this bad classic jam from my childhood in the early 70s to pass me by through the last 50 years. Of all the 45 and album records we,(my family) had owned growing up in that decade plus listening to soul music on am/fm radio,im completely shocked that i never heard this song ever before until the CarGuru tv commercial plus hearing this on The Groove Channel on Sirius XM this past weekend really snagged my interest!!! This is the ultimate funk jam in the world! Next to the classic Super Fly Soundtrack, this is forever an iconic soul song of all. I could play this jam over and over for hours!!!!
algo differente 💪🏽
I first heard this on a CarGurus commercial. It was driving me NUTS, as it was SO GOOD. I couldn't believe it was written for the commercial, so looked it up, and discovered the cut. Been groovin to it ever since. Chevere!
This song kicks ass !
CarGuns commercial brought me here!💯👍🏼
Me too. I know we are not alone. 😂😂😂
I truly dig this cut. Been trying to find this song since I heard it from the Car Guru commercial.
I got introduced to the song by watching Crooklin a Spike Lee joint. And then I bought the soundtrack one and two this is a very good song and there are a couple other songs off the Cymande album That are really good at self and the Fugees also sampled songs from this group. They are timeless and yes, they are the roads of hip hop.
Thank goodness these brothers that was most excellent in the 70's has become a major resurgence in 2023 and. beyond.❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Just heard this jam on Car Gurus bring back memories the seventy music was off the chart good times. 🙂😃👍🏾

I've been hearing this song for decades, but I never knew the name of it or who sang it until today
Cool if you knew this from 25TH HOUR or before it, but not from the CarGurus commercial. Just stating facts. 🫡
However you get here, just get here.
I grew up on this kind of music in new York city as a kid the party's in the playgrounds were awesome 😎 I ll never forget the tunes that defined my youth growing up in the big apple 🍎 priceless.
@@holleenmoore8037 the 70’s!!!
I saw them perform at the Apollo when this song was red hot. I bought it then, Frankie Crocker on WBLS 107.5 FM use to wear this out on the airwaves. I was in a club downtown Manhattan, a few days after I had seen Cymande at the Apollo and they were chilling in the club.I recognized Paublo the conga player and a few other band members and told the DJ they were in the house and to give them a NY welcome. He put on Bra and announced them, I bought them a drink and they were surprised that someone recognized them in America…I’m 75 years old and it was like yesterday. I still groove to the old and new music because I have grandchildren to keep up with…Jam on my people!
Damn...you went all the way back to the Chief Rocker Mr Crocker
Very cool love it
GREAT memory!
YESSSS I'm 67, this was the jam back in the day❤
I am 76 and I lived in NYC when this came out. I was working in Harlem. It brings out a lot of memories.
