The verse 4:3 also makes it clear that the marrying husband can more than ONE wife only if he does justice to all the wives. Now, just to make sure that the mullahs do not take a carte blanche from this injunction, the Qur'an has blocked that loophole by informing the unwary " And you have it not in your power to do justice between wives, even though you may wish (it)….4:129”. That means that this injunction of more than one wife is something that highly restricted and should happen ONLY to give honorable family environment to the orphans. The "tilth" is the farming field where the farmer sows the seed not for pleasure but for growing food materials for his survival. Would you use your wife the 'anal way' and still say "I used my wife as a TILTH last night"? Thus, the vaginal intercourse is the "tilth way", not the "anal intercourse". The anal sex is forbidden by the Qur'an precisely because of God's analogy for wife as a "tilth" for man. Also take a look at the ayah before 2:223 which says "ye may approach them in any manner, time, or place AS ORDAINED BY ALLAH". Do you think Allah ordained to use anus for sex and still call a woman "tilth"? Second, , would the farmer put his seed - not in the field - but in a nearby pond and say "I am growing my crop for food"? The seed will not grow in the pond. Third, a farmer would lay down his life for the ‘tilth’ and will protect it with the best weapons he has so no one will have the courage to occupy it. So your “tilth” is your honor. I hope the above increased you in knowledge. If you open your mind with a sincere heart, you will see the real purpose behind God’s analogy of calling your wife as your ‘tilth”.
