Being a soloist is very hard in this industry, since 90% of fans gravitate towards groups more. And Taemin’s genre of music is very unique. Not to mention that even though he’s still really young as a 13 year old idol, most Shawols are in their late 20’s to 30’s. So the demographics of every fandom heavily influences these things as well. In theory, having the winners chosen based on a set criteria would work, but I don’t think it’d be realistic. For one, who would decide the winner? And how would you determine one winner based on countless groups promoting songs with different genres? And what determines quality? Music composition? Budget? Skill? A lot of those criteria are subjective and often times, things like budget and skill (which comes with experience) favor larger groups from larger entertainment companies who can afford to have a nice stage. Plus the likelihood that music show companies would follow through with this would be very slim, because of fear that their show would be boycotted by large group fanbases who are pissed that their group didn’t win even though they were the most popular. I think it’d be nice to have awards like that though, something similar to the Academy Awards or the Grammys where the winners are determined from a select panel of expert judges and not by audience voting. It gives opportunities for other, more underrated groups and artists to shine.

I second @maBoyJinsu. I am a little older and lived in Korea during the first generation of kpop. A lot of the Koreans my age (around the same age at Bi/Rain) said they didn't like Kpop because it seemed too manufactured and there was no artistry. It's true all over the world though. pop music will always perform better because it's tailored made to reach the largest audience.

The whole system should be changed...If this man is not getting a single win for both the albums he released, then something is really wrong...He deserves so many wins...Just because we're a small fandom doesn't mean the artist is not worth it...I hope they change the whole system of putting votes and digitals completely...I am a professional and obviously I don't have time to stream...The fandom which is continuously winning are comprised of middle and high school students, obviously they stream, vote and do whatever...I really feel sorry for taemin...

@@Lena-zn4re I don't think the problem is with promotions, because if you see the group that won today, I don't think they even promoted in the music shows...That was just a pre release for them...Maybe music shows should have their wins based on the artists talent or the quality of the song released...Idk...It's unfair if taemin doesn't even win for a single time...
@@dhanushpriyaamarimannan3755 Very few groups and artists are able to win without promotions when they’re nominated. So far I’ve only seen large groups win without promotions. Being a soloist is very hard in this industry, since 90% of fans gravitate towards groups more. And Taemin’s genre of music is very unique. Not to mention that even though he’s still really young as a 13 year old idol, most Shawols are in their late 20’s to 30’s. So the demographics of every fandom heavily influences these things as well.
In theory, having the winners chosen based on a set criteria would work, but I don’t think it’d be realistic. For one, who would decide the winner? And how would you determine one winner based on countless groups promoting songs with different genres? And what determines quality? Music composition? Budget? Skill? A lot of those criteria are subjective and often times, things like budget and skill (which comes with experience) favor larger groups from larger entertainment companies who can afford to have a nice stage. Plus the likelihood that music show companies would follow through with this would be very slim, because of fear that their show would be boycotted by large group fanbases who are pissed that their group didn’t win even though they were the most popular.
I think it’d be nice to have awards like that though, something similar to the Academy Awards or the Grammys where the winners are determined from a select panel of expert judges and not by audience voting. It gives opportunities for other, more underrated groups and artists to shine.

I second @maBoyJinsu. I am a little older and lived in Korea during the first generation of kpop. A lot of the Koreans my age (around the same age at Bi/Rain) said they didn't like Kpop because it seemed too manufactured and there was no artistry. It's true all over the world though. pop music will always perform better because it's tailored made to reach the largest audience.
