Just so everyone knows, you can either drop your ammo on the floor next to you or give it to a companion so you don't lose it. Also, to anyone having trouble doing this with the Brotherhood of Steel vendor - it works with the 5mm rounds (minigun ammo) or fusion cells
A little tip for this process. If you don't want to lose any of your ammo then just store all of your ammo (every type of ammo) on your companion. Then do the glitch normally. Once your done the glitch you can then get all of your ammo back from your companion!
Update, The bullet meter when doing the second glitch needs to be about 100 or over, otherwise you'll buy them and you won't get the unlimited caps to buy everything

You can actually just give all of the ammo you;re planning to use to your companion, then do the glitch and take it back from your companion after. Just a tip for those experiencing trouble. I attempted this on PS4 using 5.56 initially. Wouldn't work. I tried 10mm as seen in the video, and it worked. I would recommend only using 10mm from the get go to avoid any trouble, although I suppose it could also work with other ammo types

Guys if you get two separate stacks of the same ammo on your side sell the ammo of the stack that you own first then sell the other same ammo you got from the vendor and it should leave you with one bullet. Hope this helps!

TUO Entertains You don't even need ammo of yours... Just do it with any ammo the vendor has. You can give all of your ammo to your companion before you do it. That's how I've been doing it :)

There's an NPC to barter with there who sells SHIPMENTS of cloth, wood, plastic, fertilizer, etc. Just keep cleaning her out and running to the chem station next door. you can spam making Jet and ultra jet. =] Just keeping waiting on the chairs for 48 hours for her to respawn her inventory. her name is Connie Abernathy. WASH RINSE REPEAT and craft stuff for little xp =D
GUYS A TIP! if you get killed or have to reload the save the glitch will not work if you try to redo the glitch with the same ammo you used before you got killed or reloaded the save. easy fix, simply use another type of ammo ;)
a couple tips, if the ammo trick isnt working, try a different type of ammo. you can drop your ammo and do the glitch and after pick them back up. second, if you double the amount of ammo rounds the vender holds you can then go the the venders inv. to speed up the glitch, 2X is the key.
before you do this glitch it is best to drop all but twenty of the bullets your using because then you dont lose all of them. exp: You have 100 10mil rounds, drop 90 of them then do the glitch. after you do the glitch go and pick your ammo back up so you dont lose all of your ammo for that one gun.
Get the cap collector perk 3, all vendors have 1000 caps, wait 48 hours and they have 1000 caps again, also store ammo on a companion or at base to make sure you lose no ammo
Just found out a glitch with this, Steps: 1:Go to any vendor that sells crap 2:Grab an item you don't have, example, 45 Round 3:Take all and drop 1 4:Then drop all, it will leave you one and you will get to do the glitch, and get THE BIG GUNS 5:Repeat

I am not at home to double check but I was either using .38 rounds or .308 rounds to do the glitch on PS4. It takes ages to click, click, click, click until you get enough caps. But by accident I figured out something else that works for some reason. Do this same glitch and when you have the one cap on your side sell to him a few times. Go back to the vendor side and BUY BACK the same caps you were selling and for some reason instead of taking away your caps it doubles your caps everytime you click it. So in no time you can have unlimited caps, clear the vendor out, and then just accept the trade even though he doesn't have enough caps. I hope I explained that correctly but that saved me TONS of time.
So far this works perfectly on all the vendors apart from Proctor Teagan on The Prydwen, I've found for him, you have to first make sure you sell him all the ammo type you have that you want to 'use' then complete as normal.
Update, Still working guys, it's a little bit glitchy now and then but keep trying, It didn't work a few times with the 10mm, worked for me with a .38. I think it only works on some types of bullet types. I got confused if anyone else is confused about which ammo your suppose to sell back.
R3DD3AD47 It's not patched I just did it again after finishing the game in the Institute vendor. It's not patched yet, but I'd say it'll be patched in the next update or when the mods for xbox one come

Just to let everyone know if you're going to use this on Procter Teagen every time I try to do this with bullets it doesn't work. It works every time with missiles though.
technically if you wanted say your best ammo do this trick completely and when it's now say 10mm rounds quantity 17.000 just put them back into your inventory all the money would level back out and you'd have shit loads of sweet sweet ammo :)
+Sadams_1 It works on multiple vendors. Almost all of them honestly. Plenty of people including myself have confirmed and explained the issue you are having in the comments. You need to try different ammo types with different vendors a lot of the time.
I have found that you are wrong in the fact that you can sell a vendor ammo, and then use that ammo. You can only use ammo the vendor is already holding.

1 step further: after you have enough caps, buy the house in diamond city, store everything in there, sleep every 24/48 hours to refresh the vendor, then clean them out of EVERYTHING every time. Then use the junk to build stuff in bulk to get xp.
+Jordan near the entrance/exit of diamond city, theres a window washing scafold and you can call, take it up and talk to the chick inside, the house is 2000 caps, and it the one door inside the market thats locked.
Before you do this second part of the glitch (where you get the ridiculous amount of caps stacked up), make sure to get the vendor in the negative from the first glitch.

If you want an easy way to make caps in this game you just need to gather a specific amount of ammo. I use 5mm cause I have a lot of that ammo. You need a lot of that ammo. Sell the vendor poor for example if you have 300 .38 rounds and he has 300 caps sell him all your .38 rounds. Plus if he actually has something you want that is expensive like fusion cores you could buy it from him then sell more ammo to him. Basically getting the vendors caps and what you want. Win win

I found if one ammo doesn't work try a different one. I've done this with traveling caravans as well. (Bonus) you can tie this in with a slight XP glitch that I found. If you do this with Doctor Sun in Diamond City you can get free shipments of crafting items. Then use the Chemistry Table to carts Jet, Buffs, Stims, Psycho etc......it's a slight XP boost but if your going to Rinse and Repeat on this money glitch you may as well get the most out of it. Please if someone can make a video of this working so others can know before it gets patched.
if you give the ammo from your inventory to your companion you won't lose yours, (the ammo you plan to use for this glitch, ie 10mm in this video) so you would give your 10 to your companion, do the glitch, get your ammo back from your companion, and Bob's your uncle.

Guys if it dosnt work I have a solution, I went Teagon on the ship and he only had 36-10mm rounds so it didn't work, so I sold him 35-10mm rounds so he 71 rounds, and after that the glitch worked. I guess the vendor had to have 71 rounds EXACT. Hope it helped

I believe there is another cap glitch. There is a doctor on BS blimp on the under level past the arms dealer. U go down stairs and walk to front then head up a flight of stairs. You'll find a doctor asking for blood samples. I was able to collect to and stack them. I returned and got 250 for 3. You can repeat just like technical documents

Idea: use to clean out junk/meds/stuff for making chems. Stockpile tons. Wait 48 hrs. Buy more. Use chem table with idiot savant perk and get xps.

Before you do this second part of the glitch (where you get the ridiculous amount of caps stacked up), make sure to get the vendor in the negative from the first glitch.
No matter what vendor or ammo I tried, it didn't work. Maybe it's skilltree related. (PS4)

If you want an easy way to make caps in this game you just need to gather a specific amount of ammo. I use 5mm cause I have a lot of that ammo. You need a lot of that ammo. Sell the vendor poor for example if you have 300 .38 rounds and he has 300 caps sell him all your .38 rounds. Plus if he actually has something you want that is expensive like fusion cores you could buy it from him then sell more ammo to him. Basically getting the vendors caps and what you want. Win win

hey guys, it wasn't working for me till I decided to do it with all my ammo and eventually it would work. so do it with all your ammo until it works then buy it all back with the glitch. welcome :)

I found if one ammo doesn't work try a different one. I've done this with traveling caravans as well. (Bonus) you can tie this in with a slight XP glitch that I found. If you do this with Doctor Sun in Diamond City you can get free shipments of crafting items. Then use the Chemistry Table to carts Jet, Buffs, Stims, Psycho etc......it's a slight XP boost but if your going to Rinse and Repeat on this money glitch you may as well get the most out of it. Please if someone can make a video of this working so others can know before it gets patched.

if you give the ammo from your inventory to your companion you won't lose yours, (the ammo you plan to use for this glitch, ie 10mm in this video) so you would give your 10 to your companion, do the glitch, get your ammo back from your companion, and Bob's your uncle.
Yeh or you can just drop it if for some reason you don't have a companion with you.
It helps if you give your companion your stash of ammo that you want to do the glitch with. That way when you're done, you haven't lost any.

Guys if it dosnt work I have a solution, I went Teagon on the ship and he only had 36-10mm rounds so it didn't work, so I sold him 35-10mm rounds so he 71 rounds, and after that the glitch worked. I guess the vendor had to have 71 rounds EXACT. Hope it helped

I believe there is another cap glitch. There is a doctor on BS blimp on the under level past the arms dealer. U go down stairs and walk to front then head up a flight of stairs. You'll find a doctor asking for blood samples. I was able to collect to and stack them. I returned and got 250 for 3. You can repeat just like technical documents
