    That purple C3 didn't even consider holding that fall! I think the wind from Robbie falling pulled it out. Classic British trad shenanigans.

    • @RobbiePhillips
      @RobbiePhillips  4 года назад +4

      I was so surprised it slipped out. The coastal granite is a fickle beast - sometimes it holds you (the green C3 on one lobe) and sometimes it doesn’t...

Plus, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so it’s not really something you can debate 😂

    damn, gumby here: what’s up with having so many ropes?

    • @RobbiePhillips
      @RobbiePhillips  4 года назад +4

      Not a bad question at all, it’s a very British thing 🇬🇧 In Trad climbing often you have gear placed all over the place which can mean the rope gets pulled in lots of directions. There’s several ways to avoid this:
      1) extend all your gear with slings - this is really useful, but if you only had one rope you’d have to extend some gear by A LOT, which also means if you fall you’re going to fall further.
      2) Climb with two half ropes (they are around 7,9 - 8,9mm) so you can clip either side of you
      In the U.S. most trad climbing follows crack lines so gear is very linear making a single rope for trad ok. In the U.K. that’s not the case, we climb on faces largely, so double ropes is generally more effective.
      Hope that answers your question 🙂

    yet another great video, was a pretty nice litte fall you got there, good to see it went well even thought the pice fell out, keep the good video's comming but don't push them to far over the safety limit, pretty sure things was in control here, but stay safe, some things you should not push to far, pretty sure you know that already, but good footage is not worth risking your life for somethinge we all need a reminder of every now and than, keep crushing and can't wait for the next video wherever it is, and whatever your doing always nice to see some sick climbing footage like this, but i hope to not see any big ground fall on the channel is my point, but if it happens it does
