One underrated thing about this port is how the japanese subtitles are so crisp and high-resolution in comparison to the blockier graphics of the original. The PC98 was ahead of its time, for display resolutions at least.
It was probably a top priority for the PC-98 developers. Having issues displaying Japanese with the resolutions available was a huge problem for the early Japanese computer industry and was one of the reasons it lagged behind while Japanese electronics were otherwise so dominant. A lot of early Famicom games were solely in katakana because it's easier to read in lower resolutions.
@@NintendoComplete I had no idea that there were ports of *_"Sierra"_* games for the *_PC-98_* . Did most of them have a similar anime aesthetic like this port of *_"Police Quest 2"_* , because I would totally be sold on an anime styled *_"Space Quest"_* game?
OH MY GOD this is hilariously bizarre. Look at Captain Hall! He's like a freakishly racist anime black person. Also, EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THIS CONVERSION!
+PolizeiPaul Yeah it's the same music for the most part. A few of the tunes (like the one when you earn points) were changed, but the biggies like the opening are the same as the US version. It's also the MT32 music, not Adlib, if that's the difference you're hearing. Both versions supported it.
I don't remember specifically where I got this from, but you want to look for disk images for the NEC PC-9801 (also referred to as PC98). That's the machine they were released on.
Thank you so much for your reply, though I have been looking for these images for quite some time without any success you wouldn't happen to have the images still lying around somewhere? :-) I'm a big Sierra fan and just think it would be cool to experience the game in its Japanese version...
The soundtrack on the Roland sounds amazing!
Can't start the day without my dose of police quest.
God...i remember playing the original for the Apple IIGS and racking up my parents phone bill on the game tip hotline.
I'm surprised they kept the Corvette and didn't change it to a Supra or Fairlady Z for this version

could you do a playthrough of PC-98 Touhou games someday? I've love to seen a video about these kind of NEC PC-98 playthrough videos...
Imaging if Police Quest was in a anime series, that would be freaky awesome.
I'd love to see Super Saiyan Sonny approaching 9000. For great justice, of course!
Where can I get a copy of this at?
@@NintendoComplete 🤨 What... The *HELL* ... am I looking at here!?
@@Dorian_Scott Hahaha that would be Pioneer's localized version of a Sierra classic! :D

Visually Nice Looking Version of the Original pc version! Too bad this version was only in Japan.

Racist because he... has pink hair...?
I s this music in the video original to the game? It sounds revamped compared to the U.S. version .

does anybody know where I can download this?
Where can I find the Japanese versions of Sierra games. I would love to play them.

doskungen I don't have them anymore, I wiped them out long ago. Sorry about that.
It's okay. Thanks for replying anyway. I guess watching your playthrough will have to do (and you could do a lot worse than that) :-)
Now when all remakes on this but in japanese thing
Where's the best part on the plane?
I think the turbaned terrorist was Achmed when he was alive.
something tells me you're gonna eventually do a playthough of bloodnet
Am I that predictable? It is one I've been thinking about doing :D
Nah im just good like that hehahahaahah
You didn't get all 300 points, because there was some shit you didn't do.
what difference for dos and pc98?
+DarknessV2 The character graphics are different
At least the plane in the end didn't get hijacked.
I see nothing racist.
