I'm a EU trucker and im shocked by what im seeing here. A lot of accidents where the truck drivers are going way too fast in heavy traffic. Also a lot accidents where people are just straight up not paying attention to their surroundings. When i'm driving all of my attention is going towards my surroundings as it should be. You gotta take this job seriously. We're driving metal death machines.

@@samok481 Welcome to America. We don't have speed limiter for trucks here. And the HOS rules are 11 hours driving time and 14 hours on duty (13 hours driving time and 16 hours shift in Canada) vs 9 hours driving time in EU. So truckers are driving fatigued on a daily basis.

@@rookiebird9382 We absolutely have speed limiters here...what are you talking about....Truckers here aren't fatigued, they are LAZY, Low IQ steering wheel holders not paying attention...they are only allowed to drive 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty. You mean to tell me 2 hours less drive time is whats causing all this vs the EU?

Back when most truckers had a CB, things were safer. They'd talk to each other about road conditions/weather, accidents/pile-ups, delays/detours, (and yes, LEO locations) and would banter with each other. It was more like a community and they looked out for each other. As a result, the entire motoring public was safer for it.

Google maps is more reliable for all of that. The CB prevails only in lane choice and updates on what happened. Listening to dump truck drivers blow kisses at each other or otr guys gripe about everything covers the rest. If the CB actually made the road safer, it would be standard equipment.

With computerized log books limiting hours on the road, the sleeping bit is less likely. I'd lean more toward attention to a cell phone/electronics instead. I'd forget if they were on or off. I'd have the low beams on and accidently flash someone trying to lower the high beams that weren't actually on. It was the dumbest design ever. If it were my truck I would have mounted an auxiliary indicator lamp somewhere visible.

Its ridiculous how most blame the trucker yet the vast majority of these featured wrecks were needlessly caused by non-truckers.

It's amazing how many people don't pay much attention whenever they're around these things. Semi trucks are the freight trains of the roadway. They're so easy to avoid, and so deadly when you don't!

Avoid semis at all cost and especially avoid getting stuck in front of one. What might be a minor rear end collision with a car will likely turn yours into an accordion with a semi.

I agree with a lot of comments. I’m a truck driver. They going too fast and not ANTICIPATING the actions of others ahead. Even ones that aren’t their fault like cars running stop signs. Got to anticipate and prepare for people to outrun a semi. Slow down cover the brake going through intersections even if you got the right away

I've been over the road trucker for 34 years. Will you guys please damn it! The first thing they told us is to look far up ahead in front of you as far as you can see. That way you'll see if something's coming by the time you get to it. Damn it! Look up ahead in front of you. As far as you can see! PAY ATTENTION!😡

All I see here is a whole lot of very STUPID truck drivers.
Not thinking ahead of them and being on the offensive.

As a former truck driver some of them are not driving the way they should be by law, HOWEVER you shouldn’t be putting a label on all truck drivers just because most 4 wheelers haven’t the faintest clue on how to drive a truck. Most of the negative comments are from 4 wheelers. And if they were bound by the same DOT restrictions as truckers are then the roads would be a much safer place.
I have a challenge for anyone who reads this.
Should 4wheelers be bound by the same DOT restrictions as truck drivers?
    Car’s respond
    C yes or no
    Truckers respond
    T yes or no
    I await your replies

One thing that pisses me off about people in general is how they think a big rig should be going with the speed of traffic. Anyone that says a big rig should go with the speed of traffic or faster, should NEVER drive again. You have no idea what you're talking about and are probably a dangerous driver since you think this extremely heavy machinery can stop at the same distance as you. Smh my head.
