    My summer project is the tap cardigan kit from we are knitters! It was a bit pricey but I managed to get it on sale. It’ll be perfect for fall, and I bet it’ll take me a long time! Can’t wait to start it! I also want to learn how to make socks. Five years of knitting and I’ve only ever ding minor projects and one sweater!

  • @cinnybuggable
    @cinnybuggable 4 года назад

    I am going to attempt a sweater.... I've tried 3 other sweaters & gave up for one reason or another. This sweater is called 'Spring into Summer' by Jeannine Hoeffler (the Knitting Flamingo). I will be using Deluxe Worsted yarn from my stash in Azure Heather. I'll also make some vanilla socks from a Knit Pick -Stroll sock blank that I hand painted stripes with Wilton's Violet. So excited to get started! You are my most favorite Knitting Podcast! Thank-you so much for your 'lessons' and beautiful spirit!!

    Hi Natalie, the French pattern is showing dress sizes not ages, 12 is a dress size in the U.K., as is 14, 16 and 18 etc, I love your top choice, I have the Lounging top by Joji Locatelli on the needles right now, that only uses two skeins for the smaller sizes, I too can spend hours on Ravelry, have a great week and happy knitting.

    I’m still trying to figure out how to navigate Ravelry. I learned so much from this one video! Where did you get the ball winder? I like that it sits on the table and doesn’t need to be clamped down.

  • @619to253

    Wow it's really nice to see your thought process on how you start a project. I like the idea of putting your items on Ravelry early in the process. I don't put items on Ravelry until I've started it for a while. Maybe thIs will make me change my mind.

    • @KnittyNatty

      619to253 I find that I won’t do it for a while either unless I put them on Ravelry at the start! 🤣

    It was so helpful to me to see you browse Ravelry and to see how you measure before picking a garment size! I just started my first ever garment - the Super Simple Summer Sweater by Joji! Holding my breath because I didn't measure nearly as much as you :) I did, at least, make a gauge swatch - because my knitting friend told me I "had too" lol

    • @KnittyNatty
      @KnittyNatty  4 года назад

      Diane Cerny hahaha! That’s a forgiving pattern so you should be okay without all the measurements! Can’t wait to see it.

      I would like to get one of these. What size is yours? I was looking at the medium one. How do you like the winder from them? Well that maybe the case usually things have new models . I think yours works good seems like.
      I bought your patterns and I’m looking forward to making some 50 gram cozy’s. How do you get yours in 50 gram cakes? Do you just wind all in a cake then wind again and weight the cakes? Thank you ou

    • @KnittyNatty
      @KnittyNatty  4 года назад

      @@PoohBah I have the jumbo winder. :) It's not that "jumbo" but it's great to have the flexibility. Yes, you will have to wind it three times essentially! Once to get it in a cake, a second time for the first 50-gram ball (I use a kitchen scale to weigh the the ball that I'm winding from), and then the last time is the final 50-gram ball.

    • @PoohBah
      @PoohBah 4 года назад

      Knitty Natty that’s what i figured you were doing . I used to lay the whole ball on a scale and wind from there. I was looking at the site and they have the winder, swift and yarn meter on stand that would be great to have. They have it in electric to i think. Reason i ask about yours was you seem to be able to wind about all your yarn so i want need the jumbo one then. Thank you

    I was really excited for the yarn cozy lite, but now I am really looking forward to the mini version. And yes, size 12 makes sense. It’s not really about your age. It’s another type of measurement like s, m, l. Patterns that are bilingual will often give the imperial and metric measurements option to help you pick.

    • @KnittyNatty
      @KnittyNatty  4 года назад

      ChiMaKnits En direct de son Royaume yay!! Ahh okay that makes more sense! In America we only use numbers in fancy brands, jeans, and dresses. But none of them relate to each other. We just LOVE to be confusing! 🤣

    Those are some beautiful options for a summer garment! I look forward to seeing which one you settle on.
    Hopefully, my summer knitting will consist of finishing off several of the sock tubes I had cranked a couple of years ago (eeep), some shorty socks for me, and possibly a top or two for my daughter. I have a cotton cardigan planned for her (Fiona by Novel Reed) and a kit for a summer top that I bought from craftsy/blueprint. I don't recall the name of the top off the top of my head but it had a really neat side-to-side construction. The grocery girl did a craftsy podcast about it - that is where I encountered it.
