DiodeGoneWild Indeed. Actually, I thought about a lift *without* any buttons inside (except alarm, door open and door close) for buildings with 2 floors that need lifts for some reason like handicapped access. They would be *so* easy & quick to use.
I can't remember the dome that well. I was too little. All I remember is the escalators going up the body zone. I can also remember the beach zone, the new planet zone and the ball shooting zone. I don't remember any lifts. It is such a waste of money that it was only for a year.
Wow, that is a VERY rare sort of lift. I already heard about those, very amazing stuff! I love when a companies tries out innovative systems and not just be bog standard and installing standard dull designs only.
I was 16 at the time, the ball shooting was awesome (until I got kicked out for being too old). There were a glass Schindler's dotted about the place where various toilets and cafes were, I think they were MRL's. The rare Mobile lifts were in a few of the exhibitions and only served 2 or 3 floors. I saw a pair of them with one control panel between them, which directed you to which lift to use. Everything seemed so super modern back then, even using the JLE to get there. There was a bit about Crossrail and the Chelsea-Hackney lines too in there. Would be good to see it all now to see how well it aged.
+Lee Thomas I remember the dome well, the ball shooting zone was called the time keepers zone, great fun it was and I was 15 at the time. I did see these lifts dotted about, but I don't recall riding them, some of the exhibitions were so busy I didn't get a chance to see them, but I did go through the body zone, that was awesome.
I assume these were superseded by MRLs for such installations - Boots usually use generic companies to modernise, and many would probably want to rip it out and completly replace it. That could be why it still survives.
They won't be able to modernize this. It is too unusual and like nothing else. The generic companies wouldn't have parts compatible with it. Which means they will want to replace it. :-(
That's basically what I was thinking. Hopefully as long as it continues to work well, they won't replace it - but logical thinking often doesn't apply with such companies, they only care about making quick money.
As far as I know the keypad system was not for sending the best lift, because most of the Schindler Mobiles were installed for very short distances and very low traffic. It was more, to have one part to install in every lift. The lift didn't need a individual cabin panel with the number of floors it had. So that system was very modular alls settings only had be programmed in the lifts logic.
I do like the motor sounds on it it kind of sounds like the motor for a generator or something but Im sure this elevator/lift does have a standard 3 phase power supply
i recall simaller one was used at temperaoy elevator at Ganzenhoef metro station before permanent elevator was opened - in that elevator you had press doors close then elevator would send up automaticlly but its very rare
I do like destination dispatch but I can never find them around my area which I think is a real shame because the idea of just selecting a floor and having a computer do the rest of the work is such a cool futuristic idea because on most elevators/lifts its the normal system where you press the button to call it and then select the floor on the inside and it does get boring to do it like that after a while
Wait this elevator doesn't use a pulley and counterweight? Not even a hydraulic? Does that mean this elevator could go much higher than other elevators?
+Bradman175 This lift uses the counter weightless system, it is similar to the Kone Power Disc. This system has a very complex cabling system with large movements of the cables to make the lift move. This design of lift can only be used for a couple of floors and can't take much weight.
***** Well I know schindler is inventing an elevator that is literally a train that can go in 4 directions (up down left right) where cables are not needed. I understand how the elevator can't take as much weight but if it can go to a certain amount of floors, it must mean that it is somehow permanently attached to the shaft.
wow, amazing! In my village, on top of the mountain in the restaurant there is one of these too. I have never seen such a SchindlerMobile (that's what they are called) in a glass shaft.
best time to go would probably be weekdays in the winter, rainy days. less tourists so will be quiet. while there millenium centre next to it have some nice lifts and their quiet weekdays too.
If people don't understand a destination dispatch pad, they should just write "enter your floor" or something. How did they have so much trouble with that they had to write "press 1/0 to go up/down"??
A single lift, just 2 floors, but it has a dispatch and a 12-key keypad. This just couldn't be more overengineered!

Just like any 90s tech, really.
I do agree but sometimes overengineered stuff can be the best
There were a few of these in the old Millennium exhibition in the Millennium Dome, sadly removed when it was converted to the O2.

1:23 Lift didn't read your request
1:54 Synchronized level coming
That motor sounds like some toy motor or something, not a lift motor
I hope it doesn’t end up getting modded as this lift is so cool. Especially with that epic motor sound.
British Lifts I think it did :(
NCHLT Skyscrapersim Where is it?
NCHLT Skyscrapersim Thanks!

That technology could be used in an american elevator called the LULA which means limited use limited application

That lift is epic! I think it's been replaced now though.
What does the handicap button do? I would guess hold the door open longer?
Awesome lift!
Before long, lester controls!
It has already been replaced
Surprise surprise
If the public needs instructions on how to operate a lift, they're doing it wrong :-/
Why dispatch system for one elevator?
Yes, it doesn't make much sense.
PRE DOORS!
Lift going up
It's actually a climbing elevator
Amazing find!
I LOVE THESE
beno do they still have this epic lift?
That motor
I do like the motor sounds on it it kind of sounds like the motor for a generator or something but Im sure this elevator/lift does have a standard 3 phase power supply
we had one of these lifts at the shop but they replaced it with a stupid gereric D:
Schindlers lift?
enjoyed em for years, purely for that. This gentleman has brought my respect to another level
The lift in Slaters looks like a 90s Express Evans lift branded as Pickerings for some reason.
this lift is also in pierhead building in cardiff bay
+Chez chez how quiet is it. Is there anytime of day I could get it to myself?
i recall simaller one was used at temperaoy elevator at Ganzenhoef metro station before permanent elevator was opened - in that elevator you had press doors close then elevator would send up automaticlly but its very rare
If that was Boots they normally use Pickerings Lifts!
Is it still there?
EPIC MOTOR!

Is this at boots.
It was, yes

Beno that's quite ironic considering the panel can support 9 floors or more lol
Brad It’s not Schindler that is making the 4 directional lift,it is Thyssenkrupp Multi
wow, amazing! In my village, on top of the mountain in the restaurant there is one of these too. I have never seen such a SchindlerMobile (that's what they are called) in a glass shaft.
I really want to see the shaft and a motor so we can know how direct drive work inside
Check my video from Linz, where I filmed one with a glass shaft

they need to clean up this one ;).
the first time i saw this i was like: “what is this shit? why has it got destination dispatch? the fuck?”
Beno if you what surf one of these here a place which has oneSchindler scenic direct drive elevator at the city library in Mönchengladbach
Rasa ingin membawa pemilik gedung ke konsultasi : Stonks 📈
wow Lift
EPIC MOTOR
At least it's different
Zach is going to be in a few minutes late but I will be there around 10 or so if you
What?
This is very strange... Look like a fork lift like this and this is funny code number on call that button isn’t.
This lift has now been modernised by Crap Lift Services.
BlueFox911 what it has? If it has been modded fuck generic
Crappy
TheBoshMeister99 It's the same of bad, presents something under the real purposes
