Fifty-four thousand square feet is very, very large! This mansion, though large, just doesn't look like it has that many square feet. I compared it to my home of five thousand square feet and I can't imagine it being multiplied nearly 11 times! If my home was replicated 11 times, side by side, it would look like a hospital complex or something. Filoli doesn't give me that impression. I think perhaps, someone has included all the outbuildings and the added, visitor's giftshop building into this equation.

We had an admin luncheon one year and visited Filoli. At the time, a shower was constructed in the living room for scenes in the movie, "The Game."
