The Glick boy tapping on his brother’s window in the production with David Soul and Lance Kerwin…that one scene gave me nightmares for years. Then I became a nurse, and found out that the real monsters are all too human. People brought from the jail, jailed because they killed their own children, looking at you with flat dead eyes, but they still get a crappy gallbladder removed. A man who murdered his girlfriend because she was paying “too much attention” to their new baby. Baby was never found. People who should have been in jail, but were too rich, too influential too connected to those in power. I’ll walk alone at night thru a sea of vampires, it’s humans that cause my nightmares now. At least a vampire murders to eat. Humans do it because they like it.
Whoo boy! Glad I didn't choose the medical profession! A situation like hers requires keeping close company with a container of mace or something more metallic, loaded with ammunition.....
I'm a therapist, and I know what you mean. My work and avocation is to try and somehow help heal the damage these human monsters do to the people they're closest with, and I would bet that you and I could spend at least a week swapping horror stories that we picked up on the job. I too fear humans far more than I ever could any fictional monster, knowing what my patients have been through... or in some cases, done.
Ralphie Glick becoming a vampire was from the TV miniseries. In the novel, Ralphie was sacrificed by Straker on an altar at the Harmony Hill Cemetery. He was eviscerated and dismembered to consecrate the town and prepare it for Barlow.

It's interesting how much this story has with Gray Matter- the bar/convenience store (old timers and liquor) the blizzard, the family crisis, turned into monsters. And then your adaptation also elects to add the layer of ambiguity.
Read more "old" Stephen King - he's got a small universe going, where you run across some of characters and locations a few times. Events and people from books are referenced in other books as well. Derry (from It) and Castle Rock (Needful Things) are two other towns. There's also a tv show called "Castle Rock" (sadly, only two seasons. i LOVED it, tho,) that combines many of his characters and locations. This channel is awesome! I love documentary style. I first read King in 1980 ("Night Shift") - 12yr old me would have been obsessed with these videos. 55yr old me surely is.🤩🤩

But, greater than anything their authors, including King, could ever come up with? I NEED TO VISTE this place. Could you link their website? David
Loved this! I am a huge fan of " Salem's Lot" and stories connected to it. Will you ever do anything on "Firestarter" ? That is my number 1 favorite Stephen King novel of all.

It's part of the fun of the experience, but i almost choked on my drink at the sight of "Harvey" Marsten! I would love it if an adaptation with Lee Marvin as Tookey actually existed. Kudos on slipping in Rutger Hauer for Barlow. That version doesn't get enough love.
Goodbye George Hatfield, your curiously finally got the best of you! You will be missed…unless one night you are seen floating outside of a window tapping on the pane with a grim and determined vulpine expression on your face.

I’ve listened to this a number of times now and love it. Salem’s Lot and one for the road are among my favorite King stories. The tapping at the window in the end creeped me out. I like Jerusalem’s Lot as well, but I cannot connect it to the novel in any way, it must be on a another level of the tower from Salem’s Lot and One From the Road.
That's probably a good way to think of Jerusalem's Lot... Or, I think of it as in the 1700s it was a place of evil... and that's what draws Marsten and then Barlow to it in the 1900s...
It's too bad Stephen King couldn't have written a whole story including this.. the knowledge of this hotel bed and breakfast makes it much more interesting for the book Jerusalem's lot and the story one for the road❤ I will always love you Mr King
I have also noticed that a number of King's books follow a similar pattern or 'formula' if you will. 'Salem's Lot', for example, has something in common with 'The Tommyknockers'.... 'Needful Things'... and 'Storm of the Century'..... Compare them and see if you can spot the 'familiarities' within the general 'themes' of each!

And "One for the Road" is sort of like a sequel in short-fiction format.
So many tales get the idea about vampires having no reflection or photography wrong. Reflections and pictures of them are possible as long as silver is not involved. And if by some crazed chance, vampires were invisible in photos, either all her clothes would be visible, not just her ring. Or none of her would be visible, including the ring. No way would the only thing seen be the piece of jewelry. Nothing against you for making the video. I know you are using what is in the stories. It just, is not logical or fact.
I am looking forward to the new version but it makes me mad, they went from a theatrical release, then lost the release date and being relocated to streaming and still no release date
