    Chris - This app is absolutely fantastic! I have been a guitar player by ear my entire life and with the current situation I decided to finally properly learn the Circle of Fifths. I purchased the app along with the expanded keys/modes. Currently on day three at 430am and can't put down my iPad because the information and learning in this app turned on the brightest light bulb in my brain and having too much fun. I am a Garageband user getting ready to graduate to Logic Pro. Will try the midi file transfer feature next. Wonderful job Chris - thank you!!

    I have the app and love it. Well done! My only thought is: can you do another tutorial around building jazz chords and progressions? If we can do this we can do anything. Thanks for developing this!! 🎶 ☮️

    What a great app! Thank you! One thing I run into, would it also be possible to put in a chord as a tab, and that the app could deduct te chord name and then recommend chords based on that?
    My knowledge of music theory is limited, so its hard for me to find out the name of the chord I want the song te evolve around.

    • @tonalyapp

      Henning Bo momentan kannst du nur die Terz weglassen und einen power-chord erstellen... wie du einen Akkord bearbeitest siehst du in diesem Video :)

    so is it possible to write a chord progression. and have each chords pentatonic scale pop up during the progression play back. this way I can hear the chords playing, and the. see the pentatonic scale that corresponds with each chord. therefore i can see the layout of the notes on the fretboard, allowing me to solo over the progression?

    Question! Using the song-writing feature, chords of the exact same type (for instance D Major in G ionian) used in different places in the song playback with different notes, and even playback differently when a section repeats. To elaborate, on guitar a typical D chord is played-from low to high-D,A,D,F#, and the app uses this as the default voicing. But occasionally it sounds like the voicing is D,F#,A,D. Can you help explain this, and can I create my own voicings? Thanks, love the app!

    • @tonalyapp
      @tonalyapp  2 года назад

      The app creates automated voicing by default. In this way chords inversions may vary depending on their position within the song. You can deactivate this setting and read more about it here: guide.tonaly.app/settings/musical-preferences/auto-voice-leading

    Can you change the octave of a chord? Like for example Start with a C Major chord with C 4 as the root. For the next bar can I change it to a C major chord but with a C 3 as the root note?
    I hope I explained this right but great app.

      Have the same question, would be nice, if you could help Chris.. :)

    • @tonalyapp
      @tonalyapp  3 года назад +1

      At the moment, it is not possible to set a specific octave for a particular chord. What you can do is to change the playback octave of the entire song. Though I’m planning to implement this feature. You can read more about playback octaves here: guide.tonaly.app/songwriting/playback-settings/octave-of-the-payback
      Hope I could help ✌️

    • @tonalyapp

      If you edit a chord like in 3:28 you can choose a "Power 5" chord which would be a power chord. So yes, you can ✌️

    • @tonalyapp
      @tonalyapp  4 года назад +3

      henrik pson for now you can use the "borrowed chord" feature for that. Long-term I’m planning to add a "real" key change feature, meaning that you can set a specific key or mode for each song part. Stay tuned!

    What I see that you missing on this app is the chord. On the guitar and piano. How I am going to learn if I don’t know the position of the fingers ? I thought it have it but I guess I was wrong

    • @tonalyapp
      @tonalyapp  7 месяцев назад

      Hey! You can display the guitar fretboard and see how chords and scales are played. First, display the instrument like this: guide.tonaly.app/instrument/display-instrument and then change it to guitar like this: guide.tonaly.app/instrument/switch-instrument
      I hope it helps!

  • @ilkkarosma5528

    A great app! Really would like to be able to adjust the chords note by note (and not just the bass note), could this be possible via a future update? That way you’d have more control over the voicing of a chord which still plays a big part in setting a tone for the chord.
    I could see a place for it in the UI, right after ”Bass note” and ”Borrow chord”, could be labeled as ”Custom chord” or ”Advanced voicing.”
