    That was a solid explanation of the connection issues. Now lets hope WG finally does something about it.
    Because WOT is litteraly the only game I play that has these issues.

      Same and I'm using 900up and down on a bad day and they say it's my internet I have gigabit fiber hardwired to console and they say maybe I need better internet

    I have really good internet all the time, and hardly lag on other games, yet I lag REALLY BAD on WOT and WOWS.
    I complained about this, only for WG customer support to tell me that it's my internet, WHEN I CLEARLY TOLD THEM IT'S NOT. My MS sits around 35 - 65ms
    Also, bare in mind that they haven't updated their servers for YEARS

    This has been a constant conversation about the quality of play. Some people are assuming that the servers are rigged to drive new players to the paywall. They do this with anti-seal clubbing mechanisms to give them better outcomes which punishes the better players. Your hypothesis of the issues that you brought to forefront in this video would be a suitable out for wargaming to explain the poor performance of the game itself and why the things that an experienced players knows are happening in the game do not make sense when it feels like the bad luck algorithm is attacking your account because you're on a 20-game losing streak. The laws of probability are pretty tough to explain when you're on a consistent 20 game losing streak. The likelihood of flipping a coin and having it land on heads 20 times in a row is highly unlikely and the fact that wargaming says that we are in a random number generator does not make sense with outcomes like that unless the server is driving those results. I call it a program number generator that wargaming uses to balance the game. The fact that they are selling tier 9 and tier 10 premiums to novice players means that they have to balance the game because these novice players are playing at the highest tiers possible. This used to not be the case so the quality of gameplay at the tier 10 level was better because most of the players that were playing in those matches had grinded through hundreds of games in order to obtain those tanks, so they understood the mechanics of the game. The fact that new players can play at these higher levels means that they are getting sealed by unicorn and high skill players which means that wargaming has to put an algorithm in there to protect them from their dumb mistakes so they don't get frustrated and quit the game which means they'll stop buying tanks. This is inherently unfair to the skilled player because the skilled player gets punished by wargaming business decisions simply due the fact that they are playing against novice players that need to be protected.
    Look wargaming is already admitted that they have an algorithm that gives bots better RNG , programmed number generator, against players to make the bots play more like humans. My case is this, if you can program the bots two play a certain way then you can program any algorithm in your game especially new player protections. This explains some of the inexplicable stuff that happens during the matches.
    Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is probably correct in his analysis of the servers and I'm sure this contributes to the quality of gameplay but there's also inherent unfairness in the game which wargaming has built through an algorithm to try to make the game more viable for new players. Obviously this is my humble opinion but I can say that it is relatively accurate because of the 6 years of gameplay and tens of thousands of games that I have played. I'm not operating on a 100 game sample size to know the difference. I can tell you this, I usually can tell who is going to win or lose the game in the first minute and a half solely based on the servers behavior during that time frame. The algorithm is pretty apparent because of the programmed number generator / rng BS that happens in the game. How else do you explain the lopsided victory is consistently in this game. How else do you explain Rikki-Tikki tank catching on fire consistently when he's the last tank standing unless it's an algorithm that affects the RNG/program number generator. Ever have those games where you lose your ammo rack over and over and over for no apparent reason or you lose modules and crew members consistently over a 20-game cycle. During that 20 game losing streak you can feel the oppression of the server as it punishes your account because nothing goes right. You can't hit shots even though they're well-aimed while everybody Auto locks you and hits you. All the sudden the other team becomes experts on auto locking. Ever have those artillery games where you can't miss or the flip side the artillery game where you can't hit anything no matter what? I would really like to see somebody compare the stats of winning and losing teams. My guess is that the winning team has a + 35% higher ratio than the losing team. This would include damage, penetration rates, landing shots, all of the core critical functions of the game. My guess is the losing team is hit with a 35% negative RNG/program number generator to enforce the lose. This is not happenstance because the server controls behavior. That's why I stopped playing the game. Spend money on five-time tank XP boosters and can't use them because you keep losing over and over again. That is inherent unfairness and it's robbing you of your money.
    Great video Rikki-Tikki-Tavi I'm glad that you're trying to explain some of the inexplicable stuff that happens on the battlefield with a technical look at the game which I'm sure has a lot to do with it.

      Just to say... humans have biorhythms, circadian highs and lows, ebbs and flows of blood sugar, brain farts, etc. It is entirely possible for someone to have a 20 game losing streak simply because their having an off day, or outside or even game-related emotional factors are leading to unforced errors. Frankly, I also can usually tell which team is going to win or lose in a match not by any perceived server behavior, but rather the behaviors of the humans driving the tanks, and my sample size is just as large as yours. It's frustrating to role the dice with limited resources such as XP boosters on games that end in a loss. However, one has to examine whether or not the pressure associated with getting that win because of betting on the outcome in that way (or, similarly, trying to complete a limited time operation) is effecting one's performance.
      One thing I see constantly is a stigma associated with examining the human element with these discussions. There's too much "The game is rigged against me!" or "My teams are all potatoes!" instead of "What could I have done differently?" I hesitate to use words that some use in a derogatory sense, but the term "copium" does seem fitting.
      At the end of the day, what really matters is if we're having fun with a game. If the answer is yes, warts and all, then keep playing. If it's no, then move onto something else. Just don't rant about it online. If you're confident in quitting you don't need to have other people validate your decision.

As I have said if they can program the bots then they can program any other part of the game. Wargaming sole purpose is to drive people to the paywall. They know how to do this by protecting new players so that they will buy the latest version of whatever tank that they have. You cannot do this if players such as myself with all the years experience that I have are eliminating them from the game because of my and knowledgeable gameplay understanding tactics and mechanics and so on and so forth. No coping here my friend. Wargaming had to admit that they had given new players a preferable algorithm in their first 100 matches to enhance their gameplay in 2021 to protect them from being sealed clubbed. This algorithm exists. Ever seen an is3 driving across the middle of the map buy a new player and for some reason the tank is indestructible. For example you land four shots into his tank and the result is that he becomes a One-Shot to your tank but then all of a sudden he becomes indestructible. You can't hit him or you can't penetrate him or he disappears While he is driving, I only had that because driving and movement affects your camo, so he shouldn't be disappearing if he's within 200 eters. And somehow he makes it across the map and shoot you with a snapshot and catches you on fire and kills you. I call BS. It happens a lot especially when you're on a colossal losing streak. My stats do not change that much during these colossal losing streaks. They are affected to some degree but my WN8 stands pretty constant because I know how to put the damage out to at least stay at a 1900 to 2600 number. So your brain fart analogy doesn't explain the situation as much as you think. The game is failing and people are talking about it because they know that something's rigged. Look at the player count my friend. Contributors are still talking about it. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi did a video just recently on the fact that every time he's the last tank standing he is tank gets caught on fire. He showed four or five instances where he called it and said oh I got caught on fire again. That's the server trying to end the game. Not programmed? Really! It is a program number generator my friend. The programming is designed in keeping new players in the game and have them spend their $3,000 until they finally figure out that the matchmaking is rigged and it's too late to do anything about it because all the sudden they're an experienced player being punished from the same thing they benefited from. Glad that you could condescendingly explain it to me. Have a good day

      ​@@danceswithmules one of the things I wanted to ask you is this. I know I had an extended response to you regarding my brain farting. But here's my question. How can the bots in Cold War shoot through the smoke and hit you perfectly? Actual players can luckily shoot through the smoke but bots can hit you 100% through the smoke. Bots are programmed to defeat some of the mechanics in the game to level the playing field. If wargaming can program the bots to do this then they can program any aspect of the game. The server controls everything. The server controls your hit ratios your pain ratios your detection your non-detection, matchmaking, which maps you play on, everything in the game is controlled by the server. The server controls how big your hit boxes are or how small the hit boxes on the enemy team has. It also controls high roll and low roll. The server controls whether you lose crew members or if you get caught on fire or if you get ammo wrecked are your gas can gets destroyed or whatever it wants to do to eliminate you from the game. That's the honest-to-god truth. Please answer that question. How can the bots shoot you through smoke when that mechanic does not exist? This game is manipulated by wargaming to have people purchase tanks. Period!

      @@WatchYourSix51 Do you have a clip of a tank confirmed to be bot-controlled consistently shooting through smoke in CW and hitting? If so, please post it. Now... I'm not a bot and I've shot through smoke and hit people. I imagine that there are more than a few other players that have, as well.
      Again... if you really think the game is rigged against you, that it is more about biased RNG than skill, then quit and tell Wargaming why you quit. You shouldn't need other people to validate your decision. I only speak up about my own experiences and opinions so as to keep this thread from becoming a conspiracy theory echo chamber.

      average 210-230 from Perth WA, but as soon as it hits 300+ games basically unplayable, your leading shots guessing where the enemy is going to be in 2-3 seconds time.

    Granted 'Ghost shells' are unique (any Admirals wanna chip in?) but "Ghost projectiles" aren't - every shooter gamer has had the moments of disbelief as something on our screen clearly connects with the target and Mr. Server, he says Nope!

    For the past few years, I’ve been having really bad delay/ input. For example shooting and driving can be delayed almost 3-5 seconds at times and if you are leading someone and this happens the shell will go where you originally pulled the trigger some time later. Driving is the same thing if I’m turning left and then want to turn right, it may continue going left for a few seconds then go right. It’s super annoying and unplayable. Even missles in Cold War aren’t safe. If you shoot a missle and then it starts delaying you movement, the missle flat out won’t move at all. Just go in a straight line. It only happens some days so I’m not sure what it is.

    There's ghost shell on PC too. When you're aiming and you're shooting then immediately de-zooming it does a ghost shell automatically all the time. So it's better waiting until the shot land.

    Based on what you're saying about ghost shells, we shouldn't even see a tracer go through a target with a ghost shell. There wouldn't be a tracer at all, then. Therefore, the clips showing a shell ghosting through a target in a replay is more of a case where the tracer geometry is clipping into part of the target tank because of the tank's movement and the actual shell just barely missed the collision box.
    Later me: Well, in addition to shells occasionally sailing off into completely nonsensical trajectories, they DO skip through targets without collision, too. Space Bandit posted a replay showing a ghost shell that couldn't be explained by the above mentioned clipping issue.

    I've seen ghost rounds a bunch of times but last week I watched one of my missiles track cleanly across Erlenberg , within metres of target it turned hard right and hit a friendly . I'm not sure but it may even have done damage

    🖐️riki, yup lag has been terrible lately (i have full fibre ect console sat next to hub less than 2metres), notice its when the people mostly have the computer symbol next to name (other console than mine).
    Managed play last night, only got 1 hand working at moment, but i pushed tank off cliff😂 i'll try send you clip later not sure if i can your on differnt console.
    Had use Auto lock and left stick pressed to auto move but i figured out a way 😁

    About ghost shells that you seem to miss understand. It's not that your fire input got lost, but your tracers are only an approximation based off server output to your client. What you think is hitting the target some else nearby see as a clear miss. Because you temporarily lost synchronization with the server.

      Notice in all the examples of "ghost shells" your barrel has swung across your screen? The server probably thinks your reticle is a split second behind where you see it. As I stated this is a desynchronization issue.

    Well done Riki! Your video covers everything I’ figured out over a couple of years now. Sadly WG wants to maximise income, so they will not spend money to fix their bad server as long as there are more than enough player spending their real money into op prem tanks. To push this WG “serves” those on a silver plate for those who are willing to pay for bad services. Just my 2 cents.

    Interesting.I'm not a tech expert but if this is the case it would explain why this game does seem at times unplayable and would maybe negate the accusations of the game being rigged.Maybe it's the issues that you've talked about here rather than rigging?Food for thought!!

    What your saying to the uneducated ear in servers and networking sounds great and especially to the ones that want to blame what you are claiming but truth be told, most issues of latency is networking. Whether it's your provider or the many other connections along the route, it comes down to networking. Pinging only shows connectivity. It is not a reliable measure of latency. It's easy to blame war gaming but there is just too much unknown before you even get to them or back.

    Only one of many issues this game has, and the expert in game players that in their minds know everything about your internet makes any fix for these things impossible. Rather than research and find the problem like you have they just blame your internet. I’ve not played in months but do love the game. Most importantly, FJB!

    One major issue you didn't seem to address is client vs server side authority. As this is a purely server based game anything you interact with on your client is subject to be overwritten by the server if the server receives other players input first ahead of you even if you seem to act first from your point of view.

    🛑🛑 I would like to investigate “win rate,and balancing mechanics”within the game.
    It seems like I can carry games for a while, then I hit about 56% win rates…but when hitting 56% win rates, I am then on teams in “blowout losses”, however my damage rates stay the same.
    I believe the game is centered at keeping players (plus or minus) around 50% win rates.
    I also believe there are “levers” within the game that contribute to RNG and Camo Ratings.
    I believe smashing certain cars and buildings contribute to better RNG. I also believe purchased Camo Skins applied to tanks, contribute to better RNG.
    I believe certain trees “turn on, or off” (when knocked down) have high camo ratings, and that ALL trees (regardless of foliage) are active equally.
    Your Thoughts???

    Other factors to consider are - refresh rate on your tv/monitor, input lag on controller, high internet traffic in your area and of course the rubbish game engine they use for Wot Console.

    Off topic, but yesterday I grinded through the M1 and unlocked the M1A1.
    Era 3 is let down so much by the inclusion of those stupid Wiesels. The vehicles are so game-breaking that it is astonishing to me that the developers are keeping them around. WoT was never about gritty realism, but those vehicles make a complete mockery of everything the game was supposed to be.
    One of my favorite things about them is when I hit them with a 120mm round, it either bounces, or I deplete about 1/4 of their HP. Given how fast and light it is in-game, I want any 120mm hit to leave nothing but tiny bolts and pieces in place of the Wiesel. This is complete BS.

      Astonishing that they are 'keeping them around'? There are probably veterans that go back way longer than me but from when I started playing: game was great, then they added Vanguard (ELC Even), then they added wheeled vehicles, then they added cold war, then they added missiles, then they added Wiesel... This is the ultra short version because I'm skipping a whole number of other idiotic and inexplicable decisions by wargaming and probably forgetting some others.
      They are not only keeping them around, they are already preparing their next moronic move. Sometimes I really believe that at wargaming they must be sitting down in the meeting room once or twice a week with a selection of some of our posts and wet themselves laughing at us.
      That or the company is run by 6 to 10 year olds...

    All I have to say is on pc the can auto aim a tank circling them and hit. I use the same tank in console auto aiming the same tank circling me and shoot 10 meters behind it. Pc hardly lead shots on moving targets at 500 meters. . Just watch skill and daki. Same 1500ms acpr yet I have to lead 3 tank lengths more than them! Is ridiculous how our version is so poor wether it's our servers or our game engine but it's been a problem since day one. Btw I'm on series x with best internet connection money and buy in the UK.

      I agree %100 with you here. To add to this I believe that addressing the server hardware as Riki suggested, if that were to mitigate the problems, would dramatically improve the game as a whole. Many long time players would likely return to the game for the following reasons, as well as retaining the new players. Long retired players of the game often occasionally dip their toes in to check out the state of the game merely for nostalgia or curiosity. The reason for their long hiatus is then reconfirmed by the aforementioned issues. However if we had these fixes applied, word would likely spread that the game feels different somehow. Old and new players alike would again give it another chance. We would then likely see a stark improvement to the reduction of the vastly common occurrence of lop-sided matches ending within the neighborhood of 3 to 5 minutes of time. Although we still see this as a more common occurrence, even on PC. This is more the result of the increasing speed of the ever growing premium tanks entering the match maker. Consoles experience will still benefit from this as it would reduce the effectiveness of the all or nothing, full sprint assaults by certain tanks which are able to make plays often without consequences as the servers allow for more difficult to hit moving targets. Now with improved servers more players will be able to make effective shots rather than hunkering down behind cover as experience indicates it is not worth while peaking to take a low percentage chance of hitting these YOLO-ing targets just to be punished by the ever present hidden destroyers or artillery. Improving the hit chance to the degree with which we have on PC should only serve to slow down the frequency with which aggressive push plays occur, thereby dramatically improving all aspects of the state of this game within reason.

      I did an Atgm speed test over a week ago, and most of the speeds are all lies. Except for the bmp1 and Sheridan.
      All the others are way slower. They all move around 115. Meters a second.

    You get 30 ms ping times connecting to the EU server. I’m playing based out of India and connect to the same server. Best I get is 150 ms ping time and mostly it it 200+. Add to it frequent internet and power outages and you can appreciate this game is absolutely unplayable for me. Still I’ve been loyal for more than 5 years and have maintained a WN8 of 2k with 52%+ win rate. If I had the kind of infra support like you have I’m sure I would also have much better experience and game stats.

      16ms for server response is when you’ll start to notice lag in an FPS. If WG fix the servers I would imagine a response time of 20ms would be fine.

      @@Rikitikitave I get 2 bars, 328ms and 28 fps from the EU server in Australia. Best speed down is 45mbps and 19 up. 205 idle latency 133 down 141 up.

    Thats why I stopped playing, we here in RSA get an average ping between 180ms to 200ms ping last few months i had severe packet loss, i'm playing Warthunder and WoT PC now, same ping 0 lag!!

    The real problem is the internet is infested with gremlins. Both voodoo charms or gypsi spells work good to keep the gremlins in check. 👍

    While I'd love to think that a company would put out a little money to improve their game, having played this thing for over 9 years I have a ton of history that say's they will not. These issues have plagued this game for over 5 years now that I know of, and then they made the ultimate BS by bending the players over with 6.0.
    Anyone even thinks they will do anything to fix any of these issues is sorely mistaken, they are all about the money, give the player base just enough to hang on and buy the next best thing. They do NOT want long term players, they want grifters, play 6 months, spend that money to buy your way to the top without knowing a damned thing on the game, as they say it works.
    With the cash flowing in, they will not spend a dime to upgrade shit, then they may actually have to admit the game was jacked...not going to happen.

      Was just killed by a tank literally shooting through a hill. I had the low ground, it was a T34 with limited gun depression. I could only see the top of his cupola and I couldn’t shoot him due to the hill but he penned me 3 times “though” the hill. That’s why I don’t give a heck about this game and only play for free and for a diversion, not worth the effort to try and take it seriously. And don’t spend any money either. Period.

    I watch my ping on Whore Gaming...it will dump from playable 10ms to 600ms and f/r. Whore Gaming have made enough money,update server. They've lost sooo many players because of BS updates. So, again, it's all our fault, not Whore Gaming! Not Devs/programmers.

    In the calculations at the beginning of the video, shouldn't you also be including the ping, etc. of the opposing player(s)? An online match is a mix of players with a variety of connection types, which all factors into this.
    In the end, there is a simple solution... stop playing if you don't like the service or the game. There is no use putting yourself through a negative entertainment experience. For me, I just motor on... RNG helps me just as much as it hinders me. I am probably an average player and win rate or stats are not important to me. I just play for fun. The bots and one-sided matches annoy me, but whatever... I just play to have tank fun and accept the many frustrations of online, multiplayer gaming.

    Pause two months ago you said this game was great at a new peak . Now you complaining . Look make sense is the game good or bad . Idk and idc but I like looking at content but complaining a game you play on the regular basis isn’t healthy . I recommend an older system . I got back into my ps1 and enjoying life again. Them pay to win game and dlc’s now aren’t helping us just helping other companies pockets .

    Why do you still keep trying to save this crap game? It's a waste of time. I am glad I left this turd over a year ago and have no regrets. Seeing it go down into despair after 6.0 and the devs just farming premium duplicated tanks Wee-Gee style just put the nail in the coffin of this one fun experience.
