I've owned a V50 1.6 D 2010 and experienced quite a number of issue's as described, now got a engine reduced power, and then it cuts out , does re start but was told its probs with the e c u so I've got it booked in next week to get checked out on a diagnostic machine, hope they can fix the prob , 👍 sometimes it's just best to buy a car with less electronics on , get back to basics , I've spent a bomb on mine had it 7 years , looking at getting something more simple . Hi, I had that reduced engine problem for a month and it appeared after anti skid service required notice. I have been having a problem with 'Anti-skid service required' and 'reduced engin performance' for a while and went to my mechanic to fix it. They said it is a sensor problem and did nothing. The Anti-skid service required' goes off but 'the reduced engin performance' still remains. Today in the morning the car stopped and didn't turn on because of the following errors: 1. Break failure stop safely 2. SRS Airbag service urgent. 3. Anti Skit service required And soon after showing these errors the immobilizer stopped the car and turned off the ignition. I searched a lot and it could be any problems like the sensor, a valve, male and female connectors or even battery. I need your help. What you are saying is exactly what is happening in my Volvo 1.6 diesel, but when I turn off and on the key when the engine is on but the turbo gives way more power than I know it should and you can hear a whistle coming from the turbo, sometimes the light will stay off for a while, and will come back on, but even when it comes back on it will still will drive fairly well the revs do not stop at 3000and if you did not know that the car was meant to be giving you more power you probably wouldn't realise, the engine has been very well looked after and has a very good service history, do you think it is safe to say that this is my problem?, And can you gain access from like you did? I am due for my NCT
@@LMAutoRepairs By looking at all your videos and the fact I can turn off and on the key and the turbo gives more power than it should and even when the light comes on I still have good power i am 99% that it's what you said, because Sometimes all the lights go off, and the car is on usually clean has a very accurate engine bay spotless cleaning all new brakes brake discs all wiring is new original so if I changed this and that was the problem would the lights correct themselves or do you have to do it I computer and on average how much would you say if costs if I supplied that part for someone fit it roughly I'm in Ireland
The lights will stop coming if you sort the issue... the faults will still logged in the ecu, but that is not an issue... Still, would worth a scan before you start to throw parts at it... The parts cannon can become very expensive, very quickly! Hope you get it sorted! 🤞
I might have the same problem. some errors are coming up as not communication with ECM BCM-0101, BCM 0100, BCM 0101, Communication between control units, Communicational problems with ECM...AntiSkid. ABS... Quick fix is opening up the ECM moving up and down and all good. I suspect a bad connection. I will removed it and give a good clean to all connectors. I would look into the Turbo Pressure Solenoid Valve, but I do not know where is located.

the blue point micro scan 3 has an excellent graphing ability not as good as the maxi scan as a complete tool but the graphing function is second to none plus it works with shopstream connect
Ahh so this is why I'm losing my cruise control .. did not know that and my car is going into limp mode and I'm getting a lot of lagging. Now I just need to find this valve👍🏿
Engine issues can influence the performance of the ESP (anti-skid), that's why they sometimes iluminate at the same time... Scan the car, and go from there... 👍👍👍

@sanmi rufus What do you mean no way to scan it? If the light was on, most likely will be codes logged in the ecu... I am not a fan of changing parts without proper test and diagnose... it can became very expensive, very quickly!

I check it with hand hold vacuum pump,valve it doesn't hold vacuum(I thought it faulty ) and I bought second hand one and doesn't hold vacuum as well . And third one still doesn't hold vacuum . They should old vacuum, providing you are test them correctly... but you have done your home work by searching on how to test them... Go new, that way you know is good... Remember, that you can also have vacuum leaks on the pipe work etc... Let me know how it goes...

Hello mate, having the same issue with a 2008 Volvo C30 1.6D - abs not communicating with the diagnostic device. Car drives but feels like in limp mode struggling to get to speed and eventually the anti-skid service required and then engine performance reduced signs come on and car releases lots of thick black smoke from exhaust when accelerating but the signs disappear when car turned off and started again. Had a new DPF and turbo fitted but problem still persists. Would you recommend anythinh else? Are you based in the UK? If yes, where abouts? Thanks

@@LMAutoRepairs/ so is it most likely that the anti traction thing will just call it and attraction, we all know what i am referring to that is triggered by the fuel pressure fuel pump situated at the back of the engine as you said ,that's what causes the anti traction light to come on Does that mean, that when you fix the fuel pressure device the anti traction will rectify itself ,? and would it probably do No Harm to clean the mass air flow also ,would this be a good assumption not necessarily fact, but a good start of assumptions so to speak is that safe to say.??
@@jasonwade2277 The traction control light will come on every time there is a problem with the engine that will affect accuracy of how system can control the engine torque etc... it will clear once the fault is rectified... There is nothing wrong with the cleaning the maf, providingbyou are using a suitable product... 👍

@@LMAutoRepairs I have taken it to mechanic, he had it for 4 weeks . I got codes - he found to faulty wires which were repaired but after 70 miles it cut out again ?
As I said... something else is obviously wrong then... Anything I would suggest, with no information, would be pure guess work... Best way is to scan the car, visual inspect and go from there...

@@LMAutoRepairs the amount of times that we scanned it is uncountable. So yes, it was scanned. But the only fault we're getting now is an abs communication error. I'm thinking about cleaning all the contacts in the fuse box (located in passenger foot haul)

Start by scanning the car... The anti skid can be caused by many things... but the brake failure is more specific... so see which codes you have on which modules, and go from there... Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Is your problem get solved? My s40 does the same, I think it’s a CEM issue, because mine stops this if I gently tap on the module, so contact issue is a possibility. The bigger problem is, I don’t find any electrician/mechanic who accept the job.
Mine I drive 1,2,3 then once I hit 4th the anti skid comes on and it loss acceleration. Any ideal was just in a accident in which my driver side tire recieved minor impact and I just replace wheel bearings

One of my faults amongst others is 1517 also. Turbo control pressure too high. I have 2a40, 68c7, 68d7, 444d also from the ecm. ABS/BCM 0101, A030, 0108 The anti skid thing is driving me mad, its unsafe losing power and speed going uphill on a motorway and having to restart. Maybe if i address the 1517 fault it will solve it

The anti-skid can be caused by other issues... You should have scanned the car first... Actually, if the anti-skid is coming up, and the ABS is not, most likely has nothing to do with ABS sensors... Always scan and investigate before start to throw parts at it... Good luck...🤞 👍👍👍

Never fixed it though, but check EGR Turbo DPF Belt Injectors and ABS sensors so we never bothered fixing it. How much did it cost you? Oh besides that, we did that for regular maintenance on 200k
I have haven't repaired the problem. Still to replace the abs sensors..... volvo is @ 330.000 km not will spend 2000€ on the problem. Car Purchase price 5000€ repair cembox 1000€ alternator 300€ spaccer liftkit 1000€ 4x shocks200€ 4 discs+ pads 100€ .2 front calipers 400€ + turbo 200€ + intercooler 100€. 4 wheelberaring 400€. Sway bar upgrade elivate 1500€. Front rear sway link arms 350€. Ecu remap 200€. All tapt out no more money to go toward the 2010.1.6 V50 engine is not 100% still able to get 1000km a week out of it.

Get it scanned and live data checked first...

Same issue 2004.5 s40 fwd 2.4L but no turbo and no power loss or limp. Just no abs or cruise

The anti-skid will come up is there is issues on the engine that affects the engine torque etc...

LM auto repair/ can you show me in a video please, where the thing that you replaced is situated, I have the same problem you have exactly described, my sensor light is up about the anti traction control, and I cannot get full power out of the engine, I would like to buy one second hand and put it in myself is there any way you could just point out where it is just to reassure me
Is situated at the back of the engine...
But remember, you can have the same symptoms, caused by a different problem...

@@LMAutoRepairs/ so is it most likely that the anti traction thing will just call it and attraction, we all know what i am referring to that is triggered by the fuel pressure fuel pump situated at the back of the engine as you said ,that's what causes the anti traction light to come on
Does that mean, that when you fix the fuel pressure device the anti traction will rectify itself ,? and would it probably do No Harm to clean the mass air flow also ,would this be a good assumption not necessarily fact, but a good start of assumptions so to speak is that safe to say.??

The traction control light will come on every time there is a problem with the engine that will affect accuracy of how system can control the engine torque etc... it will clear once the fault is rectified...
There is nothing wrong with the cleaning the maf, providingbyou are using a suitable product...

Hey can you please help 🤞🏼 I have a Volvo s40 2012. Anti skid service required “ message appears and my car completely cuts out. I close and open the car with my fob 5 times abs I can drive again. I can drive up to 70 miles and it will happen once and then happen again a few more miles, any ideas what this could be please, would appreciate any help LUCY.
Scan the car and go from there...
Most likely will be faults logged that will point you in the right direction...

@@LMAutoRepairs I have taken it to mechanic, he had it for 4 weeks . I got codes - he found to faulty wires which were repaired but after 70 miles it cut out again ?
As I said... something else is obviously wrong then...
Anything I would suggest, with no information, would be pure guess work...
Best way is to scan the car, visual inspect and go from there...

I have the exactly the same problem with my 08 volvo s40 1.6 but iv changed the tcv for a new one but I'm still having over boost problems and the anti skid service required and reduced engine performance it's driving me mad at this stage any help would be appreciated

An overboost can be caused by several different things...
You need to check vacuum, the solenoid, etc...

hi i have a volvo v50 1.6 changed the turbo recently and have no power until after 3000rpm changed the soleniod. car is remapped and dpf deleted would you have any idea what it might be ? thanks
car has had a full service and a new fuel filter aswell

Anti skid on my C30 in limp mode and says service required .. which pipes do u replace? U haven't really said how u even did it.. please please please tell me how to fix it
Which valve/s do i need to replace mate ? I have anti skid service required and is same sluggish as u explained mine is a 2008 1.6 petrol SE C30 which valves??
In this case the turbo vacuum solenoid... but I would advise you to scan the car first...
Many other issues can cause the same symptoms...

Thanks for the video. I had the same issue as you, so i bought a brand new Pierberg solenoid to replace the old one. I still have the anti-skid service light, and lack of power.
Does the anti-skid put the car into limp mode?

@@LMAutoRepairs the amount of times that we scanned it is uncountable. So yes, it was scanned. But the only fault we're getting now is an abs communication error. I'm thinking about cleaning all the contacts in the fuse box (located in passenger foot haul)

Certain faults do, until they are triggered again... some others don't...
the message ANTI skid service required and after a while the message BRAKE FAILURE STOP SAFELY jumps out.
The blinker does not work and the car enters emergency mode.
What could it be?
the mechanic said it was a computer but another mechanic said he probably did not ...

Start by scanning the car...
The anti skid can be caused by many things... but the brake failure is more specific... so see which codes you have on which modules, and go from there...

Is your problem get solved? My s40 does the same, I think it’s a CEM issue, because mine stops this if I gently tap on the module, so contact issue is a possibility. The bigger problem is, I don’t find any electrician/mechanic who accept the job.
Mine I drive 1,2,3 then once I hit 4th the anti skid comes on and it loss acceleration. Any ideal was just in a accident in which my driver side tire recieved minor impact and I just replace wheel bearings

One of my faults amongst others is 1517 also. Turbo control pressure too high.
I have 2a40, 68c7, 68d7, 444d also from the ecm.
ABS/BCM 0101, A030, 0108
The anti skid thing is driving me mad, its unsafe losing power and speed going uphill on a motorway and having to restart.
Maybe if i address the 1517 fault it will solve it

☆☆☆☆☆ my volvo dealer wants 2000€ for anty skid service...but they can't explain what is been replaced or repaired. So I'm not going to hand over 2000€ ???? For what.... i have orderd 4 ABS sensor (volvo dealer 88€ per sensor) internet 49€ per sensor..... i have the 1.6V50 325.000km.
The anti-skid can be caused by other issues...
You should have scanned the car first...
Actually, if the anti-skid is coming up, and the ABS is not, most likely has nothing to do with ABS sensors...
Always scan and investigate before start to throw parts at it...

@@peterjoseph2803 Hi Peter, can you post results? I for example and my Machanic collaeague who both drive 1,6D from 2006 had the exact same problem.
Never fixed it though, but check EGR Turbo DPF Belt Injectors and ABS sensors so we never bothered fixing it.
How much did it cost you?
Oh besides that, we did that for regular maintenance on 200k
I have haven't repaired the problem. Still to replace the abs sensors..... volvo is @ 330.000 km not will spend 2000€ on the problem. Car Purchase price 5000€ repair cembox 1000€ alternator 300€ spaccer liftkit 1000€ 4x shocks200€ 4 discs+ pads 100€ .2 front calipers 400€ + turbo 200€ + intercooler 100€. 4 wheelberaring 400€. Sway bar upgrade elivate 1500€. Front rear sway link arms 350€. Ecu remap 200€. All tapt out no more money to go toward the 2010.1.6 V50 engine is not 100% still able to get 1000km a week out of it.
