- This is not my entry, but just an unboxing and thinking.
Because I've got 5 guitars on the go all waiting for something or other to continue, why not throw yourself at something else?
So yeah like fellow Guitar Builder's Collective member @BoneheadGuitars , I've leapt upon yet another challenge. So far I'm looking at what's in the box and thinking over ideas in public. Got any ideas to contribute?
These are both Harley Benton Ukulele kits, one Soprano and one Concert. Whatever that means!

Haha you took the bait and went for the Thomann challenge too! Looking forward to this. I’d also want to say thanks for your generosity with the recent fundraiser we ran, your a true gent and a valued member of the building community Chris! 👍
You are more than welcome, cheers!
Hi Chris,
A site that sells beautiful products. Now it's up to you to assemble and polish the musical instruments.
Mockery 😂 Way to go Tim I
Needed that laugh
Or chuckles, as he should be called.
Something else Chris, something else!
I'll make a birdhouse as someone else suggested :)
I think we should all have readings of the most prickish things people say. That would be fun.
Looking forward to see what happens here.
Haha. That might just be feeding the trolls! But gather enough and there might be a feature in it!
Would be interesting to see how many were from Tim 😂
@@BoneheadGuitars I've got about 1000 words from him. Hurt the one feeling I had left. dang. hahaha
@@theNextProject He's been a fixture for a long time. Never bothered me until he said that shit to Chris.
@@theNextProject that guy is going to get called out a lot more now
Twin neck FTW. I also make a mockery of a skilled craftsmen, I shall help you bear this burden.
The mock will inherit the earth! No, that's not right...
Definitely need to make a uke at some point! Looking forward to seeing what do 👍
You should! ...in fact, I did wonder on your latest instagram thing if that's what you were doing :)
@@ChrisFranklyn not quite!
wow what a incredibly mean thing for some one to say, especially from someone who has 0 valuable content on their channel! any way what if you did the fabric top... on a michael angelo batio style double uke and put the necks out the arm sleves 🤣 either way im excited to see what you end up doing
Thanks mate! The twin neck is the more terrifying of the options... But also the craziest!
He is a meany that’s why
a vote for conjoined here, looks like it would be a fun project
Will the public get what they deserve?! I guess I've got to now.
@Chris Franklyn The public are a capricious bunch and do not necessarily deserve what they ask for!
I do like the idea of a fabric top, but that might restrict the sound board vibrating. Solid body for one and something else for the other? Will be fun to see what you come up with! 👍
Yeah, it might harm the resonance or whatever people say who sound like they know. Even if encapsulated in resin
@@ChrisFranklyn Don't worry about the resonance. Even an unplugged solid body guitar makes a sound. My vote is for the Hawaiian shirt fabric top. Genius. Double-neck uke, also genius. Maybe combine the ideas?
i say use the german instructions....
go twim necks at 180 degrees to each other
and send the empty boxes and any saw dust to Tim....and ask him to make a cardboard guitar, for his book club ladies
Zaphod Beeblebrox would have fun playing with that :-)
I did one year of German at school, what could possibly go wrong!
Oh, so you can use a scarf joint for a guitar neck. I wondered if that would be strong enough… or is that just cause some shrunk them 😆
Yeah, it's actually considered to be stronger than cutting an angled headstock out of one piece.
Brilliant stuff. I like the conjoined uke idea, and also the fabric top. Looking forward to seeing what you do. I have three nearly finished space themes guitars but I haven't found the drive to finish them, I decided to get a uke and finish them whilst building it, not sure it will actually drive me to do it but I really hope it does.
Thanks! I'm still very much undecided!
I would try to play my mom's ukuleles but .............. ??? ......... that's the end of the story.
As stories go it had a beginning and an end. :)
I wrote you a comment about where Tim Hallas can shove his unwanted opinion, but RUclips modded it. I dig what you do, so ignore him. By the way- Hold that nick on the fretboard over a boiling kettle, then sand it. You might be lucky and the steam could inflate the wood fibres again, erasing the dent.
Thanks for the kind words and cheers! I'll give that a go. Although it's glued on already now, so I'll be careful not to steam the board off.
I draw a blank trying to think of a uke idea… even trying to imagine your ideas brought to fruition. But the Hawaiian Star Wars Christmas shirt is pretty awesome…
Yeah, if I don't use it for this who wouldn't want that ridiculous print on a guitar?!
Another great video.
I always enjoy your "let's have fun" approach to whatever is going on. Well done!
I'm seeing a double neck, fabric top with both acoustic and piezo broadcastabilites.
I instantly saw a birdhouse in the bodies, now I want to go to the garage and make a birdhouse that looks like a uke!
Thanks for the vdieo idea, so much fun!
Got a kick out of the "tim hallas" lead-in bit. Seems like he's not a fan of - anything.
Life is way too short not to be having fun through it and that birdbox idea is fantastic! Perhaps not with one of these kits, 3-ply stuff wouldn't last for long. But it would look cool.
@@ChrisFranklyn seems like he is hellbent on letting people know his opinions
Mommy didn’t love him, or she was a mute and didn’t tell him “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all”
Tim Hallas writes 🤣 oh sweet lord that had me in stitches.
Thanks for that Chris I needed it
I’m with mumbling productions but why go four, when you can join them all together and have it look like a nice ray of sunshine, life isn’t full of downers like a certain person
I thought I’d people had a common hobby/job whatever it is to that person, that it would bring people together, not turn into oh jeez he is at it again, who is the victim this time
Don’t ever change Chris, you have value here, not some troll
Apparently this comment just turned up. There's a time warp!
@@ChrisFranklyn I live in the upside down chris
Making a mockery of skilled craftsmen - isn't that what RUclips making is all about? 😅
I would definitely try out a double body version, and if it goes to shit just salvage the necks and make a hard body version. 😎
Definition of a youtuber :)
Let us know if the tuning pegs keep in tune. I have a uke all the way from Hawaii - darn thing didn't keep tune in UK.
My (now much older) little daughter saw.me play a full size acoustic - she ask why the Uke got bigger :-)
It ate all its vegetables, obviously! I forgot to actually look at the tuners in my haste... Or the fret ends
Dzjeebus, those fretboards are short!!!
Yeah, you'd need a few of them to make a bass!
@@ChrisFranklyn That would make some serious Sid Vicious bass. 😂
That seems like a good site. I just had a browse through, and I fancy building a Cajon 🥁. Can double up as a good kids stool, and can probably knock out some few tunes on it as well. Will have a look in more detail later. Btw for finishing it, Modustrial maker did some funky dip thingy to get some psychedelic patterns. Not sure what the thing is, or if it is expensive
Yeah, I remember that. I've not seen any of his videos in a while. I think hydrodipping is the term for it. I'm not sure what would happen if water gets in the sound hole though, it might warp it wood. You should do a Cajon! It's not the sort of contest I see you in! Shipping from Germany was about three days.
Add 2 more kits for The Quadukele!!
...sometimes....I say things before they're processed...
Octulele! Dodeculele! Perhaps I am going to have to go for the double... we'll see.

Did some actually write that in your comments?
Yeah :) So over dramatic I had to laugh.
@@ChrisFranklyn I just don’t get people like that… 😔
please do a video reading the german manual
Ha ha! Do I have to wear a Bavarian hat with a feather in it?
@@ChrisFranklyn that would be excessive. these guys are almost down there in austria, but they have enough money to hire basically anybody for their promotions.
theres a lot more to german culture than beer, Bratwust, Brezel and Lederhosen, maybe you should visit the place sometimes since everything reopened
@@xenon237 Oh yeah, I was just being silly. I've been to Germany three times before, twice when I worked for Nokia I visited their offices in Bochum. Had to fly with phone prototypes in my hand luggage... I thought I'd get stopped for the suspicious looking devices! The other time I think was Berchtesgaden, to visit a salt mine. Somewhere near there.
