McMahon was the PERFECT QB for this team. He played QB with The aggressive defensive “attack” mentality that this team was known for. Never a team with more character and characters! Doubtful the NFL will ever see a collective one like that again.
@@mesocorny4366 If he'd have stayed with the Bears for all or most of the rest of his career, it's important to understand that the Bears were primarily a running team, and because of that Jim's numbers were always gonna be rather pedestrian when compared to other contemporary quarterbacks of his era, because even though teams didn't throw as much as they do now, they still threw _alot more_ than the Bears did back then, when McMahon played . . . so there was never a chance for him to be a Hall-of-Famer.
Tell that to Jim Finks, who put that team together. It was either Avellini or Evans, as McMahon was a rookie. Avellini started two games under Ditka and never again.
McMahon was slated to be the starter, but was injured during a preseason game. Evans had a cannon of an arm and could run like the wind, but had a nasty habit of throwing more interceptions than TDs. Hence, Avellini.
There will never be another him he brought s ooo much to the bears
Wish we had another one

need the HOF voters to subscribe Mcmahon provided an unmeasurable amount of attention and fans to the NFL
It's criminal he's not in. 22-0 as a starter from 83to87 consecutive or not it's still 22-0
who was the qb before jim vince evans?
Evans and Avilenni
From a rabid bears fan. No way is #9 a HOFer
Absolutely right. That's silly.
I think ‘who knows’ just sounding satirical

HOFer in our hearts but not enough healthy seasons in first 10 years.
Not with Ditkas offense. Marino and Montana wouldn't be either.
Receivers couldn't catch worth a damn
Bears now suck.
Avellini sure did suck why did ditka even start him? Shows ditka was not all that. Ditka more DUI than Super Bowl trophies
