Great job Pete! Peter Criss has a great voice and played killer drums on Kiss Albums from 73-78 just an incredible singer and visionary songwriter! This album is really cool and Eddie Kramer did a great job producing. All the guy’s performances are stellar!
The EXACT album that got me into rock and metal. Mom gave this to me for my sixth birthday in 1976. I don't care what anyone says: No six year old in 1976 would have stood a chance when confronted out of the blue with that album cover. Mom said I stopped dead in my tracks. Before this, I was an athletic, outgoing kid. After this album, most of my time was spent in front of a record player listening to music and pouring over the artwork. A practice that continues today, 45 years later.
Kiss ‘ Rock and Roll Over’ is one of my favorite Kiss albums/ CDs!! Love all the songs on this record!! Thank you for the Kiss rewind!! *Life is better with music!! * All the damn time!!🎤🎸🎵🥁
For some reason, I became too cool for Kiss and gave all my vinyls to my younger cousin - who was just getting into them. And now I want them back. He will not return my calls - my emails - my texts - my lawyer - my pleading - my begging. Kiss first, family second.
Who else likes Pete's singing at the 1:26 mark? Because I honestly think that his voice sounds quite good. So, Mr Pardo i think it's time for some vocal lessons and you should start singing in a rock band that's near New York. Or even your voice sounds very jazzy when you sing so maybe sing in a jazz band at a pub or something when covid ends. 🤘
Some more 70's GOLD....agree with you,Pete....I always 🖤 Peter Kriss' voice on the couple of tracks he performed on those early KISS albums! Black Diamond & Strange Ways, being my favorites!
Ace Frehley says he has no recollection of making this record, but I agree with Pete and many others that say this is probably there best album, although I do really love Alive II, but this is a strong record, they wanted to go back to basics with this one, just rock n roll with flair, and this record does that. I really like the riff and playing on Mr. Speed, Baby Driver great song, Love 'Em and Leave 'Em great song to sing to, Makin' Love another stand out track.
Big Brother is watching me...I put on my Rock and Roll Over shirt not ten minutes ago, fixed lunch and sat down to watch some RUclips. And here this is....
My FAVORITE KISS ALBUM. Heavy, clear, and fast for the most part. Destroyer was a big experiment, but this one really gives us the pure sound of the band at the time. Ace in particular does a GREAT job here.
Yeah brother, to me, Alive 2's version of "Calling Dr. Love" may be my favorite KISS track. It is certainly one of their heaviest tracks. It never gets old to me!
While I like Destroyer alot. When I would just want a KISS album to pull out Rock and Roll Over gets more choice listens today then it use to. It's a gem and any song sounds good live off of it as well. So it goes as number one with me today.
Great album, even if I don't rank it quite as high as others. Hard Luck Woman is my fav tune on the album. Clearly modelled after a Rod Stewart song (I was never a big Stewart fan, ironically enough), the backstory on it has been mentioned countless times. It's the one song that gets played over and over whenever I'm in the mood to pull this album out.
This week, Hotter Than Hell, is my favorite KISS album, closely followed by this album. I love the 70's albums a lot, being one of my favorite bands, these albums are like children, so it's hard to pick a favorite. Destroyer and Dynasty were the first two KISS records I heard/had, I love those albums almost as much as the others. Great vid Pete!
Good afternoon (evening, night or morning), Pete. Came to the band with its release of the Live album and remember my folks and siblings despising me playing it while we put up the family Christmas tree that year. Destroyer was kind of overlooked by me but this album got a bit of attention and, as you say, has grown some over the years. Another great selection for the Classic Album Rewind series. Always get a charge our of your singing as that demonstrates your passion for the music. Thanks again, Pete.
I went to see Kiss in Buffalo with a good musician buddy of mine, who was a big fan, at the Aud, for their reunion tour, with the four original members and all the makeup and everything. It was a terrific show that I'm glad I saw. You know when you're going to see Kiss, you're not going to see Yes or Genesis or Deep Purple or Iron Maiden, you're going to see KISS, and their whole schtick was putting on the best live show that they possible could, and man, they certainly delivered! Paul Stanley is an excellent frontman and a great entertainer. Gene did his thing where he flew up into the rafters and spit blood. Great stage presentation, and they sounded fantastic. That's what you go to see Kiss for, and that's what we got that night.
Baby Driver, Take Me, I Want You. Makin' Love. That album has some good vintage KISS songs. I think all their albums are legit vintage rock. Long time major KISS fan here. My friends and I used to wear Kiss make- up alot back in the 7th grade. They was something else.
I started getting into KISS in 2001 when I was 10. My dad was a huge fan growing up but only transferred Alive!, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over and Revenge over to CD so those were the ones I started with. Of course, Alive! rules and Revenge was great but that brightness of Rock and Roll Over really appealed to me at that age. Always been a favorite.
Oh yeah! Rock and roll over is definitely my favourite kiss album. It's very hard rock and sounds like classic kiss but definitely overshadowed by In this case, hotter than hell or destroyer. But rock and roll all over is the best. Every song rocks I would say that this album is the nearest flowing album kiss has ever done in my opinion.my top 5 songs of this album would be Take me, ladies room, hard luck woman, baby driver and mr speed. And also the album cover is the best kiss bas ever done.
Rock n Roll Over was one of the albums I had as a very young child. Like pre K childhood. Recently listened to this album again and yeah Makin Love is the stand out track. My favorite when I was a kid. Its a faster track and heavy. Why my parents let a three or four year old version of myself listen to lyrical content full of innuendo is beyond me. Double Platinum was the other KISS album I had and liked it better than Rock n Roll Over because it had a lot of the other KISS songs I liked, but yeah good solid album.
I didn't really discover them until like 1979, but wish I wish I had as a younger kid, this and Destroyer would have blown my mind. Love 'Em Leave 'Em and Ladies Room live are definitely the definitive versions IMO. Baby Driver is awesome! I agree fully vocally the diversity of the classic band, Ace and Gene are so unique... A great, consistent album 👍
For friends who have preconceived ideas of what Kiss sounds like, play them " hard luck woman". Even after I play it for non- Kiss fans, they don't believe it's them
@@neuropete1 What is the point of trolling on a video, made by a KISS fan, celebrating a KISS album? If you don't like KISS at all, that's fine, and you certainly have the right to your opinion, but why be a troll about it?

That Was The Second Cassette I Ever Bought. I Have An Original Vinyl Copy As Well. My Mom Hated That Band. It Is One Of My Top 5 Kiss Albums Of All Time. Revenge, Destroyer, Like It Up & Alive Fill Out The List.
'70s-era KISS was my childhood introduction to rock and roll. I played "Rock and Roll Over" to death, on the original vinyl, when I was a mere seven years old. To be sure, my parents didn't really *want* to buy KISS albums for me, but I told them that I would just ask *Santa* for the albums, so I ended up getting them, lol!
When this album came out I got a copy for Christmas! Little did mom know I already bought a copy. I still have the unopened, shrink wrapped copy I got for Christmas! One of the special lp's in my collection for sure...
In 7️⃣6️⃣, Destroyer was my choice over Rock / roll / over. Like PETE, summed up I definitely 💯 take it in opposite direction today. Great job PETE. 👍💯
First 6 studio albums (the best of the batch!): 6. Love Gun 5. KISS 4. Destroyer 3. Dressed To Kill 2. Rock and Roll Over 1. Hotter Than Hell But all of them are badass!
I've always view this as the Kiss album where they made a pure rock and roll album, take away the make up, take away the histrionics, just visceral rock and roll, it just bursts at us in over 30 minutes, Ace puts in a proper shift here with his guitars, and overall an excellent Kiss album.
My favorite KISS album from the classic era. Callin' Dr Love and Mr.Speed are my favorite tracks from the album and probably my favorite KISS songs in general
My 2nd favorite of the 70s era. Hotter Than Hell my #1 but RnRO a close #2. That kickoff track I Want You is a fantastic rocker. So many great tracks but my favorite is Makin Love.
Perceptive comparison Pete. Paul wrote Hard Luck Woman and wanted Rod Stewart to sing it, but Peter convinced Paul to keep the song in the band and let him sing it. Garth Brooks famously covered it at the height of his fame. I think it's a great song, and Peter sings it beautifully.
Paul tried to sell Hard Luck Woman to Rod but was either convinced not to or was rejected by Rod, I can’t remember which but having Peter sing on that track was smart. It came off like a Rod Stuart track and I love it
I've always just loved the raw energy of this album and it's got some of my favorite Gene Simmons songs love em leave em , calling dr love and the hilarious ladies room
Great video.I love Rock and Roll Over. Kind of a side note….I always thought the first part of the guitar solo in I Want You was very close to the I Stole Your Love solo from Love Gun!
Great album...kiss fan since 78....my favorite for sure.🤘🇺🇲
Definitely a classic KISS album. Absolutely solid & a rockin album.
Always one of my favorite Kiss albums and to this day has not lost its luster

My favorite Kiss album with my favorite Ace solo on Makin’ Love.
My favorite KISS record

I did the same circa '79-'80. Sold my KISS LPs. Dumb. By the mid-'80s I was back into the band and regretting my decision.
First KISS album I ever owned! Shoveled driveways in early '77 for the money to get it.
This is the best KISS album ever!
My second favorite KISS album after Hotter Than Hell 🤘 awesome pick Pete 🤘
Great album .......where have the years gone ? 🤘👍🍺🥃
My favorite cover and definitely is on my top five Kiss albums of all time, love the rawness sound of it, killer album!
Brilliant album and artwork! Like all 70's KISS!
Ace did his best solo’s on this album!
Agreed!
Love Gun as well !
One of their best albums!
In my top three kiss albums.
Such a killer album. One of their best albums.
Love everything about this album, and today we get a vocal by Pete Stanley:))😁

crazy back when bands would drop two albums a year
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard still do.
Rock and roll over and love gun are my favorites from the classic lineup.
This was the first Kiss album I bought. Loved it for the hits Hard Luck Woman and Calling Dr Love, but there was more to it!

Good call

still have the RnR Over 8 track 👍 fav. studio pick: Dressed To Kill
Still have my Destroyer 8 track! I'm going with that one as my fave because of it's cinematic quality and sense of humor.

My second fave KISS studio album right behind the debut!
My fourth favorite Kiss album right behind, Dressed To Kill, Self titled debut album, and my favorite Hotter Than Hell. R.N.R.O. is a MASTERPIECE.

My favorite Kiss album for sure.
Great cover. This was the first album I bought with my own money. Do kids even have paper routes anymore?

Great Album review. Second best Kiss album after Dynasty. 😃😀😄😁
Paul wrote "Hard Luck Woman" for Rod Stewart, but Gene talked him out of it. I like this album better than Destroyer.
I do too bro. It's close, but I have to go with "RARO"!
I heard that Rod rejected it. If true, dumb move on his part, he could have made it a big hit. Especially in 1976/77 when he was always in the charts!
HLW sounds like You Were It Well from 1972. Rod was a pop star in 1976. Not retro.
Paul tried to sell Hard Luck Woman to Rod but was either convinced not to or was rejected by Rod, I can’t remember which but having Peter sing on that track was smart. It came off like a Rod Stuart track and I love it
