Shhhh, this is meant to be our secret 😂. If you're following the border next week you'll probably go straight through our village too. There's some amazing roads round here, you can be out all day and hardly see any traffic, everyone goes straight up the M74 to the Highlands and misses out on some fantastic scenery and roads. The devil's porridge is worth a visit as it shows loads of local history which is fascinating. Our neighbour who's just turned 100 years old used to work at the cordite factory and is full of stories about it, she can't remember what happened yesterday but get her onto 80yrs ago and she's as sharp as anything.
@@LizAndRichGo which village do you live in? I’ll keep an eye out for it when I’m editing the next video. You’re lucky that people drive straight past, you don’t want the place cluttered up with tourists after all 😂 I came up to the area about 18 months ago and fell in love with the whole Border region. I can’t get enough of it now ❤️
@@TheJeff4X4 It really is one of the most fun roads I’ve ridden in a while. Fast, twisty, ups and downs, it was really special. Just wish it was a bit longer 🏍️😂👍
Since I started riding in 1981 it has always been about self reliance, independance and freedom. Not trendy traits but for me they are fundamental to why I ride, repair, modify and build bikes.
Wow first I've heard of it 👍👍👍 just been informing my brother who lives just north of Lincoln....well done sir...big fan of ww2 planes etc we actually where visiting Lincoln when a Lancaster flew over city wowwwww... amazing atb from Cumbria ...👋
Hi, just watched your video on winter riding and why you do it ,really enjoyed it and totally agree with you about it helping with mental health issues and general wellbeing and like you mentioned it helps maintain your skills on a motorbike, I also suffer from PTSD having spent many years in the army serving overseas and northern Ireland so I can appreciate and understanding how you feel and your ups and downs that is associated with your mental health state of mind, like you I get great relief and good feelings when I'm out on my bike although I must say I don't ride when the weather is bad and the road conditions are dodgy, just so afraid of binning my bike, anyway I hope you have a great 2025 and your health issues continue to improve back to full health.
@@stevenhoward8792 Thank you Steve, and have a great 2025 yourself buddy. Of course the other downside of winter riding is the endless cleaning! 🧽 🏍️😂👍
I'm also a lone rider and just back from a six day tour of Ireland. I live in the Highlands and happy to tour about by myself. Reset is a spot on description. Ride safe 😊
Me too every June I tour with camping gear and just go where I want no one to criticise the route, this year was the lakes and 22 and 23 were Scotland NC500 sort of. Next year is a four day tour of the roads south of the Great Glenn on my Rebel 1100 over 600 miles and three nights camping.
Get out my back yard, how many times must I tell you🤣👍. Great video Jack, glad you enjoyed our lovely Border country, shame the sun was absent early on but it’s still good with your thermals on. PS. Glad you enjoyed the Darveen Pass and the B740, great road. By the way the yellow car was an Escort RS2000, bit of a classic.
I started watching this with my lunch earlier, before having to dash out & work! 🤬🤣👍 It seems to be an annual thing you head up & over the border Jack & great to hear the enthusiasm as your riding! 😬👍 I've only travelled in the opposite direction up the B740 & looked awesome heading down too mate! 😎👍 I'm gonna figure out a nice loop around here & include the Dalveen Pass & The Mennock Pass,as I think i love the Lowlands more than the Highlands lately on my medium sized GS! 😬👍
@@johndiehardmclean23 Thanks John. I love it around there. Everyone heads to the Highlands so consequently, it’s pretty quiet. So much to discover and such a lot of contrast. Well worth the effort mate 🏍️❤️👍
A fabulous video Jack. I think you’ve really hit on something here. Was recently staying in the Melrose area, and this region does something to you. Very calming, and epic roads and scenery, and the locals make you feel very welcome. Roll on episode 2! Thank you👍

The video was that good I watched it twice, the point is, I missed you saying the 1st time round that you wished you had shit loads of money so you could ride forever, exactly what I always think when I'm out on my bike. Again, thanks for sharing and see you on your next adventure 🤙 🤟
