Then you end up at Roosevelt Lake and then go back to PHX through Globe on the 60. I hope you carry bear spray when you are out in the forest!! LOVE your videos! Thanks!!

hey no problem....I first moved to AZ 5 years ago and I pronounced it incorrectly for the longest time lol, but I got it down now. thank you for checking out the video
By who's opinion? What's correct? for a hundred years, the locals pronounced it Muhgeeyon, which was also taught in AZ history classes from the 60s to the 90s. Only recently has it become mohgeeyon. But since it's not really a spanish word why do we treat the double l as a y? I will default to the oldest regional pronunciation, which is also the pronunciation according to Merriam-Webster as me-ge-yon (muh-gee-own) . Calling it moh -gee-yon is as quick a way to identify yourself as a non-native as saying pres-cott rather than pres-cutt, Dy-sart rather than Dy-sert, or Sa-guaro rather than sa-huaro.
@@erichconnally5643 haha good point, I use to call it muggy-on for the longest time. but as i got out more and ventured around the state, and went online looking stuff up about payson, I started to hear it getting pronounced as Mo-gee-on

Seeing this from the air flying home to Arizona is spectacular. The ruggedness of this area with all the lakes and rivers is just mind boggling. We grew up in flagstaff, Sedona and Christopher creek. So grateful. 🙏
My family moved here to Phoenix, when I was 8 years old in '60. This is a Wonderful view that helps greatly to see, define, and explore the Mogollon Rim! Thanks! :)
Awesome video, man.. I was born in in Payson and have lived in Star Valley my whole life. Sure is a beautiful area. Your drone footage was incredible. Whole different perspective..

We were impressed with your coverage, the drone perspectives are awesome. Your commentary and history notes & your humor are stellar. We love Arizona and look forward to getting back there this winter. We're subscribed to your Channel and will keep watching. Thank you Jessie, keep up the great work. Thank you so much! i was kind of doing the same thing on election night. everything else on tv was Election Election Election! so i browsed the web for some movies to watch. Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you so much for subbing!....lol, gotta love the safety recommendations!
I have driven through Payson a few times never being able to explore the area. I have really enjoyed finding your channel. You make it very interesting to watch, I feel as if I learned something each time I watch. Thank you
Thank you so much! love payson! its like home away from home. I always enjoy learning the backstory on places like these and I always felt my viewers would too! thank you for checking out the video!
Spent a lot of time up there it's beautiful country Nice way to get out of the valley I like to go up and have picnics with the family and every once in awhile drive all the way to Winslow The scenic way
First time I went to Payson was 53-54 as a friend of my Dad was building a cabin on Tonto Creek south of the hiway at Kolh's ranch. You picked up the Bush Hiway in east Mesa ,from there on the road was gravel/dirt to Payson and beyond. There was about a mile of paved road in Payson ! I ran pilot car for oversize loads hauling dozers/scrapers late 90s when they were making the road east of Payson into divided hiway. Payson at that time still had a operating sawmill right on the road thru town.
I 100% agree that that area is a complete breath of fresh air when coming up from Phoenix in the summer. The pine smells amazing! I've been on that exact drive and to those overlooks more times than I can count!
and that is partially why I make these videos. I know that at times, people cant always go to places like these, for a variety of reasons, so thats why I bring the places to you! thanks for watching!
It is MONSOON! Welcome to the high country. Happens every day up here during monsoon season. If you don't like snow, steer clear of the top of the Rim. The snow in winter here makes Minnesota look like Arabia.
Love your videos Jessie. If you have a chance you should check out some of the Madrian Sky Islands in the state. The Pinals, Catalinas, Cochise Mountains and Mount Graham over by Safford are all part of this unique geological landscape. They are high altitude mountain ranges that rise up from the desert floor and home to a vast array of diversity. Probably the easiest to access would be taking the HWY up the Catalina’s to mount Lemon. It’s all paved and it’s nice and scary with tons of drop offs. Also if you ever make it up to the Eastern White Mountains in the Springerville/Eagar Area you can check out the Springerville volcanic field, it’s the third largest volcanic field this the USA. Near Lyman Lake in the same area there are ancient geysers. They look like mini mesas north of the lake along HWY 191, but they have large holes going down in them. There are also hot springs in the are along the Little Colorado. :)
ahhhhh! thank you for sharing! always on the lookout for other mountain drives, scenic locations etc etc. funny that you mention some of these, because i will be doing a video in the Tucson area around the end of october....Thanks again!
First of all, I love your videos. Secondly, the Mogollon Rim has been my stomping grounds for decades. I have tons of drone footage from numerous camping trips up there, I just haven't edited and posted much of it to my channel. In fact, it looks like you were up there around the same time I was camping up there earlier this past summer. I have drone footage of those fires off to the west as well. You've inspired me to get cracking on more edits and video posts to my channel. Also, it should be noted that there are LOTS of Arizona Black rattlesnakes up there. I have encountered quite a few of them during my camping excursions on the rim, and I have the pictures to prove it. However in all my years camping up there, I have only ever seen one black bear. Keep up the great work, Jessie. 👍
Hey thank you so much! love the mogollon rim....its a place I dont make it to as much as i wish i could. I didnt know that about the black rattlesnakes, and thankfully I havent encountered one.....Fingers crossed! hope you can break out the drone again and your videos and get them online!.........happy flying!
Another great Jesse video. Before selling our camper my wife and I used to go to Bear Canyon Lake. It's so serene up there .Would love to see more of this.
Thank you for sharing! I do plan on making for videos in the future up in the payson area......so much cooler up there as well! thank you for checking out the video!
nice views at Mongollon Rim, I need to go back to visit the lake there. Walnut Canyon near Flagstaff have those style ruins. Pictograms, plenty along the Petrofied Forest NP drive...
The mogollon rim is the southern edge of the Colorado plateau which covers 130,000 sq miles, the plateau is bigger than Arizona. It covers parts of AZ, UT, CO, NM The grand canyon is carved right through the plateau.
Great video. I was interested in this by reading a couple of Zane Grey books. Also, I live near Redwood National Park. We've had 95 inches of rain since last October, 2023. I look forward to a light sprinkle instead of a torrential downpour 😀
Wow, we just rode our Honda Goldwing on the road today. Absolutely loved it. Will definitely be riding the Camp Verde to Payson again and check out these view points.
Another great video. I fly the DJI mini 4 also. i am suprised how it does in windy conditions. A trip that i dont think you have filmed is the Salt River area where there are kayakers, tubers and wild horses. I fly out there quite often. There is a large area that the tubers use to go into the water where i fly the most. It is the parking lot about 6 blks. east of Blue Point pull off. The area i fly from has a covered area with a concrete picnic area where you can set up. You can fly all the way to Saguaro lake and back and then fly west to Blue Point. Be careful not fly over the dam at Saguaro since the dam is considered a critical structure due to the 9-11-2001 terrorist attack. I believe you live in the East Valley so it should be a fairly short trip. There is a ton of info you could put out- Saguaro Lake, the dam, wild horses, tubers etc. Last weekend we say two basejumpers jump from nearby mountains and a group of horse back riders traveling next to the river.
Thank you for sharing! ive been out there a few times, but havent done much work out there.......actually i think I filmed horseshoe dam and stewart mountai dam in 2023, i got some great shots of the water flowing through the dams!
My mom lives on the Mogollon Rim. I have sat on the edge of the rim, dangling my feet off the side....another time, right as we crested the top of the rim, we were inside a storm cloud. It was so thick, you couldn't even see the windshield wipers on the windshield, even though they were on high.....we had to pull over and wait it out....a rather interesting experience!
Boy, that Ponderosa Pine savanna atop The Rim is staggeringly, vastly huge! It just goes on for miles and miles, of even MORE miles and miles. Ya wanna get "lost"?? That's just the place to do it! For me, snow makes for a mighty nice friend, once you strap on the "gravity rockets" (skis)!
Wish you could have seen this town and area in the middle 1960s!! That's the first time I went through Payson and it wasn't Incorporated until 1973. People used to go to Christopher Creek in catch 10 and 12 inch trout right from the roadway!!! Also the road from Payson to the top of the rim was a skinny little two-lane road and if you got behind a truck it was going to take you an hour to get to the top of the rim!! But the good part was is there was almost nobody around and the population of Payson wasn't much more than a couple hundred!! One last thought also in the mid-60s early 70s there were huge ponderosa pine trees before they had logged the big ones!! I mean 4 ft 5 ft in diameter and 180 ft tall!! Sadly not anymore!!
The local bigfoot apparently also enjoy the scenic overlook at Woods Canyon lake as well, the better to track the deer as their prey! About 3 years ago, a family that I know, I told them of the numerous credible bigfoot sightings up there, before they went, they seemingly didn't believe me. When they came back home, their 7 year old son told me of his sighting, "I saw a what looked like a big hairy man, and as he walked I heard the tree branches crunching under his feet".
That is something I need to look more into. would be fun to make a video on "the Mogollon Monster" but I wouldnt like to have an encounter haha, thanks for sharing!
I'd definitely recommend doing the whole rim road from one side to the other. I usually go up through Pine and Strawberry to the west side of the rim and camp up there. Most of the rim road is gravel and can be done in any vehicle.
see, that was the plan for the video, but there was a huge tree blocking the road, not sure if it was intentional or accidental and it just hadnt been moved yet. but i would like to do that full drive someday ....thank you for checking out the video
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 I think I have bad luck, it's not like that's a rainy area. Haha... though drive up through a cloud layer might be part of it. Who knows, there are so many cool drives through AZ.
lol, it was for me too. i almost didnt do it, but it was a great shot, and the karate kid is one of my favorite movies.....Thank you for watching the video!
Navajo Nation has tons of features like this. Too bad outsiders cant just park and walk around. Maybe if the NN made more hiking trails. More non-locals could enjoy
I went to that particular lookout once, and my friend’s dog kept jumping over the edge of the cliff to different rocks. I kept thinking that if that dog falls, it’s gone forever. It’s a long way down. Sometimes, you can hear the bellows of elk way down on the forest floor.
Say, Jess, do you want to see some Ponderosa titans that truly live up to the name, Ponderosa? Come to California's Sierra Nevada! They grow more than 250' tall, with trunks more than 8' diameter. And if they grow on steep slopes, they get basal buttressing, just like Giant Sequoias.
Well thank you! im glad you enjoyed it. The name of the lake is called, Willow springs lake, and there is a road to it. theres a couple more lake up there too!
I just purchased my first drone. It’s the 4K Pro plus more kit. I’m wondering what software you use to insert the music and do your editing? Your editing is nicely done. Also, where do you get the background music from? Yours In particular seems to be well chosen. .
Great question! I use CyberLink power director 20 for all my video editing, I think the latest version is power director 24. Its easy to use, and I get all of my music from Epidemic Sound and they have thousands of background music tracks and sound effects. You just have to type in what kind of music you are looking for....for example.....western music travel music, mysterious music, creepy, happy, upbeat etc etc....I also just updated the description of the video and included links for the software and music in there as well. If you have any questions...dont hesitate to ask! and you will the love the mini 4 pro....it packs a punch!
1st time viewer here. Was the fire in your footage from the Superstition Mountains? that would be amazing if you could see smoke from that far away on the rim
it wasnt. that fire was coming from west of payson............however!!! in a future video....you just may see smoke from that fire in the superstition mountains!
@jessiesdroneadventures7464 no, it was on the short video you did of this. Maybe it got deleted, though I'm very careful what I say, because I thought I commented on this one too.
I hope I get a chance to head up there to stay at one of the lakes (or just hang out for the day) soon...I'm just starting van life and I want to wake up next to a lake, but I'm not sure which one to go to for that or if it's ONLY for day use or really expensive to stay overnight at, I gotta look more into it, I'd prefer boondocking it, just not sure where.
You need to buy a 4x4 truck. "Pycho with chain saw"... You need a pew-pew wolves, bears... Seems you need to go to "Walnut Canyon Ruins" East of Flagstaff.
@jessiesdroneadventures7464 I'm glad since I study bear, big cats, and Wolf (to incl. pack) attack case studies, worldwide. AZ is no exception. I like your drone views.
Dude, you are at that little paved pay camp tourism area on the East side. Rim road runs the length of the rim in that area. Head West and you can exit on the other highway. There are way better views.
Dude, I’ve never heard anyone pronounce “plateau” the way you do, with emphasis on only the first syllable, “PLAA-toh”. Were you raised in northern Minnesota, near the border with Canada?
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 Totally respectable lol I understand why. And yeah you were right, I found within 2 minutes of research 😂. Thanks for the content though, good stuff. I’d love to see you explore more around there. If you go to Redmans gravesite there’s some pretty interesting underground caves nearby you should explore sometime
Its the " Neutral zone " that sepperates the desert wasteland , from gooberville . wasreland - drive fast , gooberville - drive faster . Hopefully you can get out of that state in less than a day . No good way to get through Texas , Even the pan handle takes too long .
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 The Ohs are all long, and the LL is a Y sound. And you can use a soft G as well, as the word is Spanish. But most Arizonans use the hard G

It was so thick, you couldn't even see the windshield wipers on the windshield, even though they were on high.....we had to pull over and wait it out....a rather interesting experience!
whoa! i would agree....talk about an experience! weather up there can get crazy! thank you for sharing!
Boy, that Ponderosa Pine savanna atop The Rim is staggeringly, vastly huge! It just goes on for miles and miles, of even MORE miles and miles. Ya wanna get "lost"?? That's just the place to do it!
For me, snow makes for a mighty nice friend, once you strap on the "gravity rockets" (skis)!
yes! those ponderosa pines never get old!
Cool vid but ngl I honestly thought I was gonna see a shoe fly off when you did the karate kid crane kick lol
lol, I made sure they were tied tight!
I really liked the map you used to show your route
Thank you so much!
Great video!!! What kinda drone do ya use??? That is Awesome!!
Thank you! I use the DJI Mini 4 pro....for a little drone it packs a punch! Its also linked in the description of the video!
Thanks , I’m thinking about getting one
Sadly not anymore!!
dang!!! those would have been some humungous trees, never knew that, thank you for sharing!
I live in the mountains of Virginia and I think it’s beautiful here, but oh my…your views are stunning ❤❤
oh thank you!! I appreciate that!
I wouldn't be standing on that Limestone shelf for love nor money no matter how thick it is
I live to.............live life on the edge!
You should carry some bear spray with you. 😊
Awesome drone footage. 👍
I always carry multiple forms of protection, and it differs depending on the environment im in...cant be too careful 👍
I'd love to see drone footage of other runes. Here's some in the verde valley.
And I think I know just the ones you are talking about!!
it´s sometimes not easy for a european brain to realize, that this rim goes for 200miles, bigger than some countries over here
I've never gone up that way without it raining... ever lol.
right lol, happens frequently
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 I think I have bad luck, it's not like that's a rainy area. Haha... though drive up through a cloud layer might be part of it. Who knows, there are so many cool drives through AZ.
Majority of the times I've been up there it's either been cloudy or rainy haha
Amazing
It sure is! thank you for checking out the video!
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 my pleasure
that was a high anxiety Mel Brooks moment at the ledge....LOL
lol, it was for me too. i almost didnt do it, but it was a great shot, and the karate kid is one of my favorite movies.....Thank you for watching the video!
Old native Arizonan here if you are up on the rim during monsoon season you can expect showers and hail nearly daily.
Thank you for sharing!
Sometimes, you can hear the bellows of elk way down on the forest floor.
yikes!!! thats a long way down!
Jessie, what’s your FPS setting in the mini 4?, thanks
The majority of the time I shoot in 1080p at 30fps 👍
I worked at Kohl's Ranch from May to Sept 1992
I do have some interesting stories to tell of my experiences
mogollon monster?? i want to do a video on that in the future
I hope to explore this area more in the future
You will love it!
Are there dispersed camping areas on the rim?
Theres many!
Say, Jess, do you want to see some Ponderosa titans that truly live up to the name, Ponderosa? Come to California's Sierra Nevada! They grow more than 250' tall, with trunks more than 8' diameter. And if they grow on steep slopes, they get basal buttressing, just like Giant Sequoias.
ooooh, good to know! and im actually heading to california in a few weeks too!
I call this place home❤
it sure is beautiful up there! I try to make it up there at least once every couple months, never gets old!
Wonderfully done! What was the name of that beautiful body of water? Is there a road or trail to reach it? And Yes, please do the exploration
Are you using fpv or your Drone app
drone app!
Cannot find out the details of your drone - you said it was in the description but I don't see it
Let me check...one sec
Toward the bottom of the description underneath the "gear I use to film and edit" section
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 got it- thx - great vids
Thank you!!! And if you ever get a drone and have any questions.....don't hesitate to ask 👍
That's strange, I know I watched this one and commented, but I don't see it now. 🤔
Could the comment have been further down on the page?
@jessiesdroneadventures7464 no, it was on the short video you did of this. Maybe it got deleted, though I'm very careful what I say, because I thought I commented on this one too.
Welcome to arizona in the monsoon season
I hope I get a chance to head up there to stay at one of the lakes (or just hang out for the day) soon...I'm just starting van life and I want to wake up next to a lake, but I'm not sure which one to go to for that or if it's ONLY for day use or really expensive to stay overnight at, I gotta look more into it, I'd prefer boondocking it, just not sure where.
yes! put the mogollon rim on you list! that place never gets old! many place to camp along the rim too!
Last time I went camping on the Rim I tethered myself to a tree just incase I started sleep walking. It's a long way down in some areas.
not a bad idea!
Well done, kid 😊
Gracias sir!!!
You need to buy a 4x4 truck.
"Pycho with chain saw"...
You need a pew-pew wolves, bears...
Seems you need to go to "Walnut Canyon Ruins" East of Flagstaff.
4x4 vehicle is in the works!! And I never travel anywhere without multiple forms of protection 👍
@jessiesdroneadventures7464
I'm glad since I study bear, big cats, and Wolf (to incl. pack) attack case studies, worldwide. AZ is no exception.
I like your drone views.
Dude, you are at that little paved pay camp tourism area on the East side. Rim road runs the length of the rim in that area. Head West and you can exit on the other highway. There are way better views.
Thanks! I plan on doing that in a future video!
Dude, I’ve never heard anyone pronounce “plateau” the way you do, with emphasis on only the first syllable, “PLAA-toh”. Were you raised in northern Minnesota, near the border with Canada?
yes!!! minnesota!! growing up, we shot 22's, went snapping turtle fishing and had green bean casserole....oh you betchya!
I would like to see that
noted for the future!
Watch out for the mogllon monster!
it walks among us!
You’re not able to disclose that site of the pictographs are you?
I can, I just prefer not too.....I dont want to put too much exposure on it....but honestly, its not that hard to find
That is the largest stand of Ponderosas in the world.
amazing isnt it!
I think this is Arizonas ( train station ) ! 🤔
That makes Phoenix the butt of the state
Its the " Neutral zone " that sepperates the desert wasteland , from gooberville . wasreland - drive fast , gooberville - drive faster . Hopefully you can get out of that state in less than a day . No good way to get through Texas , Even the pan handle takes too long .
Thank you for sharing!
Moe Goe Yone rim, not Moggy On Rim. Just Sayin
Muh gall on rim?
@@jessiesdroneadventures7464 The Ohs are all long, and the LL is a Y sound. And you can use a soft G as well, as the word is Spanish. But most Arizonans use the hard G
why are you worried about the amount of daylight left...just wait about 10 to 12 hours and the daylight will return.
I like to shoot all my videos in one day....most of the time, its litle bit of a drive from where I live....didnt want to have to make 2 triips
Just curious Jessie, when and where is your next trip. Would u mind if i shadow u in my own vehicle. i will not interfere with anything u do. I am a retired police ofcr and u can trust me. i will not interfere with ur videoing with ur drone.
Hey theres no harm in asking, but I'll have to pass. nothing personal, I just like to operate in secrecy
“Exporing”? Really? Doesn’t anyone proofread before pressing send anymore?
fixed it....i was on molly the last few hours that I was editing this and my assistant no longer works here........"co-caine is one helluva drug"
SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE A CANDIDATE FOR BECOMING A CITIZEN OF EITHER SEDONA KINGMAN BULLHEAD CITY LAUGHLIN OR NEEDLES
DAVID ADAM GRENIS CURRENTLY IN HOUSTON TEXAS
I love Kingman, AZ! not so much a fan of needles though haha
Welcome to Arizona👍 Please leave your voting habits behind👍👍
cant argue with that! Merica!
If you're going to do a story about a place learn how to pronounce it properly there's no e or I in the word
i know how to pronounce it....its pronounced xzenjikolozxhipclipzen!
If you think the mogollon rim is Arizona’s most striking geological feature you really gotta check out this place called the Grand Canyon lol
LoL The rims Nice..
Grand canyon in Utah
eh its cool, but in my opinion, it overrated.
Really , you think the South Rim is in Utah , Like Really!!!@allstar2709
