  • Learn how to knit the s2kpo decrease (aka s2kp or sl2tog k1 psso) with this beginner's knitting lesson, which goes slowly through the steps.
S2kpo stands for 'slip 2 together, knit 1, pass slipped stitches over'. It is a technique that reduces the number of stitches on your needles by 2, making it a double decrease.
Unlike most decrease and increase techniques, the s2kpo is a centred decrease, and therefore does not lean to either the left or to the right. It is quite symmetrical.
That's because this decrease is worked over 3 stitches; you start with 3 stitches on the left needle and you finish with just the 1 central stitch on the right hand needle.
