I've used Lew's rod and reels for about 5 years now but just recently bought a medium Googan green rod to pair with a shimano slx baitcaster i bought at a yard sale. Gotta say, I've been slaying walleyes with it of late. The balance between feel and firmness is 👌.

I grew up in Miami and used to fish the canals for peacock and also fished in the keys all my life. It was fun to watch your experiences. Next time hit up the canals off Eureka drive off the turnpike.
While fishing lured you should throw in a bait line, seen some crazy stuff bite in Florida when you throw it in and wait

I’d wager that was a banded water snake 🐍 (non-venomous). I fish alligator ally all the time. Cotton mouth that size would typically have darker coloration
